Child with ASD in Traditional School

Hi mommies! Meron ba sa inyo na enrolled and anak with special need in a traditional school? How is your child coping? Is he thriving?  I'm school hunting for my son who has mild ASD (mild as in hindi na daw halata). I initially planned to enroll him in a progressive school but naubusan ng slot. Now im torn between this traditional school and montessori. Medyo pricey kasi si montessori kaya i'm wondering if baka mag-thrive naman sya sa traditional school. TIA! 😊

me too san pa ba choices and oey ba feedbacks?,,kahit hindi tradition like progressive school aside from COLF and cradle of joy. anymore suggestion?...sa angelicum ba may inclusion programs din?

Enrolled my son in a non sped school... Okay naman siya but may occassions na super hyper or nag bibite so we were required to get a shadow teacher kasi syempre kawawa din naman yung school if other parents complain.

Now lilipat ko anak ko sa school that offers traditional and sped kasi hanggang 5 years old lang dun sa current school ng anak ko. Okay din [textspeak!] may traditional and sped kasi atleast di siya full sped - ispesped lang siya when needed.

What is the advice of your dev ped and therapist? It is better kasi if the recommendation comes from them.
You can also try enrolling him in integrated schools or inclusive schools which offer a mix of traditional and progressive method of teaching.

^ mukhang okay curriculum sa Reedley International School. my son was diagnosed with autism when he was 2 and a half years old and he's now 3 years and 3 months. Meron bang may idea magkano tuition? Gusto ko na paghandaan ngayon palang. Btw, my son is enrolled in an Early Intervention Program, laki ng improvement niya dun. He talks now, super daldal na nga. My son can read na rin. Behavior naman niya ang problem namin. Super likot na parang hindi mapakali.

My daughter was also diagnosed with ASD pero she's currently studying sa traditional school. Naka katuwa nga kasi accelerated sya from Nursery to K2. No need na mag K1 at saka lahat ng lessons kaya na. The only thing that her teacher always told us is very malikot sya. Pag tapos na sya sa lessons nya iikot na sa room at titignan mga classmates nya kung tapos na din. The school was aware that my child has this condition and we even informed them na nag therapy sya.

so far ang alam ko na traditional school na may inclusion is tabernacle of faith in J ruiz  tsaka yun Mont michel sa banda banawe... pag progressive school pagkakaalam ko mas madami

^ parang ganyan din anak ko. kapag tapos na sa work time kung ano ano na ginagawa. my son is eager to learn, super likot saka fidgety siya. papano ba i-enroll ang child with ASD? pwede bang ipag entrance test sa mainstream/ traditional school? kasi papano yung mga bata na hindi na-diagnose noon tapos may ASD pala talaga?

Sana makapasa sa assessment ang son ko. My son is almost 4. He can recognize letters and numbers. Can count. sing. Etc. medyo non verbal lang sa needs. Pero marami alam na words. Undergoing ST and OT din siya

ano name ng school na yan sis? hope you can share it para it help those mommy's like us looking for other choices of school for inclusion lalo na very steep kasi ang tuition fees for inclusion dagdag pasakit sa bulsa ng mga special needs moms

Hi sisses, last year bago kami mag enrol, dumaan sa assessment ang daughter ko and we were informed na pwede sya mag enrol don but we have been required na mag summer class sya para maging familiar sa school at hindi na mahirapan mag adjust pag open ng regular class.

I was there nung first 2 weeks nya and ayaw nya magpa iwan at umiiyak sa room pag nawawala ako sa tabi nya. But of course lahat naman ng kids i guess ay dumadaan sa ganong stage. Sobrang laki ang improvement nya although yun nga malikot sya sa class. I think much better kung sa traditional school ang kids as long as nakakasabay sya sa lessons at wala naman complaint from the teachers as well as from their classmates.

4 students silang na qualify sa acceleration. Around 15 students sila sa buong section. Her OT and ST teachers are so proud of her nung binalita namin na accelerated sya.

I will share with you pag nalaman na namin ang mga awards nya after ng final exams.

Hope that these gives inspiration to all Moms.

Recently ko lang nalaman na my mga schools pala na tumatanggap ng kids with special needs (talking about traditional schools). I found 2 schools in our area pero di pa naman ako makakapag feedback because this school year sa day care na muna yung daughter ko.
