on our honeymoon right now! One thing I can say that I don't regret doing is makingkķ the 1st part of our trip itinerary very open ended. No particular activities planned unlike when we go on regular trips. But after this 5night  stay in Santorini, we are going to follow a reasonably paced itinerary.

So there... what makes a honeymoon speciaI think is taking time off to do whatever you want or even sleep all day and just relax!

BTW we are also doing Northen Lights in Iceland and also Norway in a Nutshell from Bergen to Oslo at the end of the month. I think it is cheaper if you book the tours yourself rather than get a package

oh yeah... for those still planning their weddings ... if its a choice between splurging on extraa and upgrades for your wedding VS splurging on your honeymoon... choose the honeymoon!!

Sydney to Melbourne is still a 9 hour drive. I would advise you fly. It's 1.5 hrs to fly and it will cost you the same.

My top pick for our honeymoon next year (September) is either New Zealand or Australia. It´s the tailend of their winter  so perfect for us yung weather.  Still balancing the costs, kasi I think mas cheap sa Australia (NSW and Victoria) because madali ang land travel,  pero nakavisit na ako there, so mas excited ako sa NZ, kaya lang reading back parang mas expensive if NZ because of plane fares to/fro different islands.

Hi sis!  I´ve done this na before, yung roadtrip from Victoria to NSW.  We didn´t drive straight naman. We passed through Victoria (countryside) then to NSW to Sydney.  I like it kasi coastal towns yung madadaanan.  Anyhow, since I´ve been to Oz, more on the experience of driving together, going to the spots and wineries together ang gusto namin :-)
Nice yung Northern lights sis Chili!  Plan ko sana mag iceland this year for it, pero I will wait na lang next year when the hubby is here.  Madami akong nadedefer na travel here in Europe now hahaha, kasi parang mas fun to wait na lang after the wedding, since our plan is for him to try it out here for a year before we make plans kung saan na talaga kami magba-base.

Thanks so much ladies for wishing us a happy honeymoon! Just got back a few days ago and I am still hungover from the trip and experiencing post-vacation blues haha

Lesson learned: NEVER prepay hotels!!! It will cost more, but flexible bookings will save your thousands should any unexpected event happen. We hit a big snag when our travel plans were messed up by a supposed 4 day airport strike in Greece.

Always be careful and aware of your surroundings. Thieves can tell from the your demeanor if you are vigilant or not. Once we got to Berlin we put our guards down a bit and that was when my husband was physically harassed on our first night by someone asking for money.

Re Iceland. it is just utterly amazing but it is not a particularly romantic destination. In reality you battle extreme weather conditions esp during winter so it kills the romance in my opinion haha. But Iceland was really one of the highlights of our trip.

Re Norway in a Nutshell. It claims to have one of the most beautiful train rides in Europe. Then you do a fjord cruise. It was nice but I am not sure if it is worth going out of your way to go to Norway just for that. Bergen was really pretty and relaxing though.

If I would rank the the destinations from top to bottom it would be:
1-2:Santorini and Iceland   (would go out of my way to return)
3.Dubrovnik-inc. Mostar and Kotor (would like to return with friends or family)
4.Bergen  (not likely to return)
5.Athens   (maybe return)
6.Oslo       (not likely to return)
7.Berlin     (will never return, haha)

^wow sis Chili1113, nice to see na number 1 sa list mo ang Santorini. We're planning to include this in our list. Sorry to hear about Berlin, super crowded na din kasi siya kaya madami na ring loko. 

For our honeymoon, we already booked a year ahead for our Royal Carribean Cruise pero after few months pa ito. Dito ako naeexcite and siguro a little side trip around Florida. But a day after our wedding, we'll be in El Nido

^Sarap ng cruise sis!!! =) =)  Ang exciting mag plan ng honeymoon noh?  Kami din, 4 months after the wedding pa yung honeymoon namin. But it is nice that you also have a minimoon in El Nido right after the wedding. Sarap!!

Sis I really enjoyed Santorini. We stayed in Oia, and I would stay here again if ever I will be lucky to return. One thing though, I realized after my trip that I don't need an expensive room to enjoy Santorini. We really splurged for our suite hehe super mahal for me. While we have no regrets, ang dami ko nakita na cheaper hotels with superb views!!!

Good to know na madaming mura with superb views, kala ko talaga pag sa santorini lahat mahal. So depende padin pala talaga. Thank you sis Chili1113.

maedonnas Santorini ka pala, mag Greece din sana kami + 2 European country pa kaso SUPER bitin ng bakasyon namin, jampacked na 1 month. I did my research andami must visit sa Greece, Athens, Mykonos, Zakynthos, Crete, I hope nasa IT mo.  We've decided mag 5 days sa Maldives. Parang yun na din pinaka pahinga namin. For Europe we need minimum 3 weeks. Hays buhay OFW, IF ONLY.

^sis Rory_Lorelie_Gilmore we might visit din other places in Greece para minsanang gastos  Yes pag Europe kelangan mag-allot  ng madaming time kasi di biro ang pamasahe lalo na pag manggagaling ka pa sa Pinas. Sakin naman it's not a problem kasi I live na here in Europe kaya madali na lang puntahan. 

I want to go to Maldives too, someday! haha ang daming gustong puntahan, pero kulang na kulang sa VL.

maedonnas Europe ka pala litong lito ako sainyo ng twin mo haha kala ko nasa SG ka. True, magastos at di birong amount for Europe so dapat backpacking trip itu! Mga 3 weeks haha! Someday! Hopefully on our 1st wedding anniversary. 

Go sa Maldives, sarap ng water villas, right outside your door turquoise water na sasalubong! Imagine when you wake up at ganon ang view, woooo hooo excited ako sa honeymoon!

We plan to spend our honeymoon in July next year in Europe, but we've both never been. Since parang stressful ang DIY for first-timers like us, we might just join a tour. Any recommendations as to tour companies/ travel agencies?

Great food, beautiful architecture and a relaxed time are our top priorities. We're thinking Rome, or Greece-Turkey. Suggestions are most welcome
