So yun na nga…

I had my eyes lasered. I can’t say that my eyesight is back to normal since I don’t remember having a normal 20/20 vision. But yes, I have a 20/15 vision now. 1 step better than normal vision.

I won’t bore you with the details of how I decided with the chosen clinic, basta, I chose it. Maybe because na-sales talk ako or their marketing team is really good.

So I decided on a Wednesday, January 20, then had my eyes screened Saturday morning, January 23. Then had the procedure that same Saturday, evening.

10:15am, nasa clinic na ako, then filled up some forms. Around 10:45, I started with the screening. Screening was divided into 4 parts, I forgot na the names, basta part 1 consists of 4 machines to check on your grade, curvature, thickness of cornea and tolerance of eyes under pressure. Part 2 was the manual checking, maybe just to validate whatever the machine said. This one was tiring, because we have to go on and on, until I don’t know what they were trying to get from me. Part 3 was the dark room. I think its around 4 machines ulit. Maybe checking on how my eyes under dark environment. And the last part and most uncomfortable is the dilation. They dropped some medicine on my eyes and it sting so much. It made my eyes sensitive to light. Full effect of the medicine will be in an hour, so I have to return to the clinic after an hour so the doctor can read the tests and check my eyes if I passed the screening. I’m done with the 4 steps around 12:30pm, and had lunch outside with Omar. And oh boy, they are not joking when they said that I will be sensitive with light. I was literally blinded.

1:30pm, the doctor checked me and declared that I passed the screening. According to him my eyes are healthy, malabo lang talaga. Curvature is perfect. Thickness is ok. With all the abuse my eyes experienced, I’m still lucky to have a “healthy” peepers. According to him, if I want, I can proceed with the operation that afternoon, as soon as the medicine wears off. It will take around 4hours for the dilation to subside.

6:30pm, I was in waiting room with 9 more patients. Funny thing, one lady removed her graded eyeglasses because she wants to savor the last few moments of her imperfect eyesight. Weird girl. So I did the same. While waiting, we were able to talk to each other, some were nervous, some were excited but one thing common was the experience of wearing glasses/contacts hindered us from having the time of our life. I don’t feel nervous the whole time until this girl told me that, on the procedure, the doctor will slice part of your eyes to access the area to be lasered. OMG!!! My eyes will be sliced?!? Of course, they laughed. I  did not researched on that and anyway, she stopped making kwento when she felt that I was getting nervous. Oh well, ignorance is a bliss.

Procedure proper. So I’m a bit nervous because of what I’ve heard. But here it goes. After few pleasantries with the doctor, he taped my right eyelids to prevent me from blinking. Just follow the green light. Then an instrument (maybe tubelike) were placed over my right eye and I felt my eyeball being sucked/vacuumed. Total darkness… after few second, maybe 10 seconds, I can see syringe, metal instruments, light, and some film like material all at once. Just follow the green light. It felt like forever. No, it’s not painful, just uncomfortable. I think it took him 5 minutes to finish my right eye. As for the left eye, it’s just few seconds. It’s really fast. maybe because I was less nervous. Or my eyes cooperated. Left eye done. Then back to my right eye… huhuhu… he fixed my right eye further. Just few seconds more.

Recovery. Right after the procedure, I was transferred to the recovery/discharge room. Additional reminders from the nurses and

Had lasik in 2010 with Dr. Richie at SLMC-BGC. I actually discovered him here in the forum. He's also a GT member. Had another check-up a month ago and happy to say I still have 20/20 vision.

Re the procedure itself, mas matagal yung prepping ng eyes ko kaysa sa mismong laser treatment. I wasn't aware of it but my husband said it didn't take more than 10 minutes to do both my eyes. And the result was instant! I couldn't believe how clear everything was. On the recovery naman I had to wear safety googles 24 hours a day for at least three days (even asleep ha) to prevent any bunggo to my eyes. After that I just had to wear it during waking hours for a week.

By the way, there was no pain whatsoever during and after the procedure. I kept thinking after the procedure when I had clear vision already that I should have done it years ago.

gusto ko din magpaLASIK kaya lang natatakot ako and how much ba aabutin? nahihirapan na ko magglasses at contacts. imagine asa beach ako at nakaeyeglasses. kamusta naman yun. nagtry ako magcontacts sa beach before pero mahapdi sa mata kaya glasses na lang. natatamad na din ako sa maintenance haha.

Relatives and friends who did this have very good eyesight now. Most of them got promo packages kasi mahal talaga. I think group buying sites meron din.
They either got American Eye Center or Shinagawa. Both good clinics daw and with great doctors.

Pero before the treatment and during checks, scary daw hehe. I suggest you do a research on the different types so you can choose what's best for you and it will show pros and cons din.

I want LASIK so bad too but I'm scared. Sisses, between SLU-BGC, American Eye and Shinagawa, which do you recommend? And helpful also if you give the respective costs...

had my lasik done with Doc Richie din in 2012. Super bilis ng procedure.
If you have questions regarding lasik procedure & pricing, active naman siya sa PEX. Madami din siyang clients dun. Isa na ako.. lol

Funny nga during lasik operation kasi nakalimutan ko magdala ng medyas, nilamig talaga ako. Sobrang lamig sa operating room. Buti na lang mabilis, it only took 15 mins and bye bye contact lens & eyeglasses na. If i recall correctly, nasa 60k ata binayaran ko. Marami na din Lasik clinic ngayon that only charges 40K, yung iba may voucher pa. Pero syempre mga sis isipin naten na mata naten eto, kailangan careful tayo at todo research sa mga eye specialist na gagawa ng procedure.

I had this procedure last year and it was the best decision I made! Eye glasses and contact lens free na. Ang saya saya talaga!  Ive been wearing eyeglasses since I was in high school. I had it done at Shinagawa and it cost me 75K. But now I think mas mura na kasi yung cousin ko had hers at 50k only.

Is this not advisable if nag-iincrease pa yung grade sa mata? At hindi po ba painful yung recovery period?

^dapat stable yung grade ng mata for a certain period, one year yata if I remember correctly. No pain during and after surgery. Ang naging side effect lang sa akin naging dry yung eyes ko so I had to apply eye drops every so often. I did this for mga 6-8 months lang after that no need na.

I want to have this done. There are different kinds of laser procedure pala. Will research on it and malaki din price difference.  Ang mahal ng smile para akong mag lalabor ulit sa mahal.

almost 1month na yung lasik ko. yes, nag-dry sya and madali mapagod nung first few days. but now, di ko na need yung eye drops. kaya lang, nag-drop pa din ako just to finish the bottle, sayang e. maski once a day, sa gabi, when i'm reading.

right now, i dont have any complains. mas sensitive lang ako sa light. kasi dati, when i wear contacts then naka shades ako, i feel na too dark, so di ako nagshe-shades maski outside. but now, pag suot ko shades ko, sobrang comfy. parang tama lang yung liwanag.

so initial dryness and sensitivity sa light lang yung negative reaction ko. its still a great decision overall.

mga sis, gusto ko din ito, kaso mahal talaga...ang taas na kasi talaga ng grado ng mata ko 375 na...hirap na ko...covered kaya ito sa mga HMO?

^i wish covered ng hmo pero parang hindi haha! Ako din nga nahihirapan na 400/400 mata ko:( pero yearly nagtataas sya.

^^No hindi covered ang lasik sa HMO. Yung grade ng mata ko rin nasa 275/375 when I had lasik.
