Wedding Supplier Tips
« on: January 22, 2016, 03:12:32 pm »
Am I expected to tip the photographers, coordinators, HMUA,  videographers on the day of the wedding?? I know the waiters need to be tipped, but what about the other suppliers? How much is the usual tip also?

Also, in my prenup photos and videos I ended up tipping all the suppliers. Is this normal? Some friends told me they do not tip the HMUA anymore.

Just want to ask because my finace has a tendency to give exagg tips. Like he wanted me to give my HMUA 1k tip which I think is too much because she only stayed for 1 location, and I paid pa OOT. Last time he tipped the guy assisting us in Pinto Art Gallery for our shoot 1k also. I got mad at him after hehe because those guys normally dont get tipped and to think, they charged us even for the hour we didnt use, but it is our fault because we came late.

Please advise!

Hi Chili!

I won't give my suppliers tips but will get them small tokens and gifts instead.

It's just the waiters that we'll provide tips :)

These are all part of my miscellaneous budget na din. Padagdag ng padagdag sa budget :p

^ Hahaha, I just asked a friend of mine who got married Dec of 2014,  this exact question a few hours ago. 😄😄😄

What she told me was that we don't have to tip the L/S, Photobooth, musicians. But we can give gifts /souvenirs ( little tokens of appreciation) to those who worked closely with us especially if we really appreciated their effort in making our wedding (especially us brides) as close to perfect as possible :D. Like our HMUA, lead coordinator, host, designer, etc.

Oooh Thank you msdiane and Missus O! Sounds good to me... So basically it is:

TIP: Waiters
NO TIP: Lights and Sounds, Musicians, Stylist's crew
GIFTS/TOKENS: Lead Coordinator, HMUA, Host, Designer

Hmmm what about Photo and Video, and how about the other coordinators?

Question?
1. How much do you normally tip the waiters. My coordinator said 5-10k is the usual?
2. What gifts do you plan to give the suppliers? I want sana something small and compact not bulky.

Hayyyy ang hirap!!! Why O why is this a common practice these days. When I got married 10 years ago, this wasn't the norm. And all of them performed so well.

My photo and video are high end. I guess thank you nalang :)

But they will be part of my guests table too. fiancé told me perhaps a box of chocolates would do.

Hi Sis Chilli. Since suppliers (not all) charging us too much, pwedeng wala na siguro. We can tell them na we will refer na lang their team to our friends na ikakasal soon. Haha. (Hindi naman siguro. 😄)

Hmm, I think I gave gifts to the major suppliers (pero none pa to my P/V kasi I wanted to wait for their final output, hehe!) so that would be: HMUA, lead coordinator, L/S, couturier and florist. I bought L'Occitane goodie bags from an outlet store and Clinique makeup kits. Around $12-18 in value? It's not a must but I liked working with my suppliers so I wanted to give them a treat. :)

The waiters in Enderun were tipped Php 100-150/head if I'm not mistaken. We just gave the captain an envelope with half of the total at the start of the evening. Then the remaining half at the end :)

Such a useful thread  ;D I remember allotting budget for this in our excel but we haven't figured out the breakdown or what to do with that budget. I think it's something that can just slip off your mind.

For me monetary gifts/tips are okey naman if you have too much money to give but gifts/tokens are also ok. Either of the two it only means that you appreciate your suppliers' efforts and the outcomes of their services and even if for example you don't give anything to them at all because of your tight budget, choosing them to be your supplier is already a privilege on their part but a simple text/letter messages are much more appreciated so that they can use it for their endorsement on fb or ig.

Nagbigay kami 500 each sa mga coordinators on the day kasi natuwa talaga kami sa performance nya.

We gave tips to everyone, even the generator set operators, photobooth, etc. If you feel that they deserve it then go ahead, as long as you do and give it wholeheartedly. I personally think that giving tips is an act of appreciation, not a standard. If your supplier has been really great before and/or during your wedding, whether he is a major supplier or not, and you feel that a little token or monetary gift won't hurt, then you are very much free to give. your suppliers would be pleased to know that their efforts are appreciated. May mga supplier lang talaga who goes beyond what they are expected to do so they surely deserve a tip, or a little more than everyone else. Like for example, the gen set operators we had, we never really saw them roaming around the venue, but I know they were there since 5am pa and never nagkaroon ng electricity fluctuation so I know they did their job well. There are also labor intensive suppliers like catering, stylist, and lights and sound who goes to the venue early to setup and madami pa silang gamit na dinadala so we also considered that factor. Every supplier has a role on your wedding day. Bottom line, give tips to those you appreciate. If you appreciate everyone's presence, then give tips to all :) if you have a pasaway supplier and you don't feel like giving something to him or her, then don't :)

we treated our suppliers to thanksgiving dinner a few days after the wedding. we included the coordinators, photo team, video team, hair and make-up team, host, and cake artist. we felt it was a great way to personally tell our suppliers how much we appreciated their work on our wedding day and during our preparations  :)

kami we gave cookies for every suppliers we bought it sa SNR suggest ko lang siguro mas ok kung maramihan yung ibibigay mo like chocolates para mapaghatihatian din ng team  then nilagay nalang namin sa card like "Anna & team thank you etc..." then yung sobra sa giveaways namin binigyan din namin sila since made in candy naman siya...

for me mas ok pa din mag bigay ng kahit simple token/gift to show gratitude na din sa kanila hindi naman kailangan bongga sabi nga nila it's the thought that counts =)

Need your opinion mga sis.

We are planning to include as part of the official headcount ng caterer yung mga suppliers namin. Coord, host, HMUA, PV Team -- tancha namin nasa 20-25 silang lahat. Since kasali sila sa buffet service, and hindi crew meals ang bibigay namin, mako-compensate na ba yun as a tip/token of appreciation?

TIA!

May problema ako dito. haha. We are overseas couple kasi. For sure pagdating namen, I will meet the coordinator since full kame, madami kame aayusin. We will also meet the photographer and videographer for the shoot. And most probably some other suppliers pa.

;D So I plan to buy small gifts and give them pagdating ko.
