Hi, mga sis!

My question is very simple, kasi simple lang din naman ang favorite ko na lutuin - pancakes and brownies. I want to experiment with toppings kasi, para naman may something unique ang brownies and pancakes ko. I've tried M&Ms na crushed, but do you think mas ok if I use chocolate chips talaga?

Also, I plan to try making some pudding ulit. Matagal ko na kasi akong hindi nakagawa. It was one of the things that my mom did a lot when she was still alive. Gusto kong i-try gawin ulit to find out if I can still recall my mom's recipe. Any suggestions on how to make a unique pudding? Ano ba ang mga uso ngayon?

I've just gone back to baking, so one step at a time muna. :)

^Sis, I tried Reese's peanut butter cups and marshmallows. I only added towards the end of baking time para di masunog. Inspired by one Buzzfeed video.

On a separate baking conquest, I tried chocolate chips and made the mistake of adding them from the very beginning that's why they ended up burnt. If you want to use choco chips, I suggest adding these towards the end of the baking time rin.  :)

Hi, sis! Thank you for your tips and suggestions. Hmmm...mukhang masarap 'yan. I think I saw that Buzzfeed post/video you're talking about. Might as well try na rin gumamit ng Nutella. I'm sure maraming matutuwa pag Nutella nilagay ko!

I think you're right din na dapat towards the end ko na i-add yung chocolates/choco chips. I plan to bake again next weekend. Will keep your suggestions in mind para makuha ko na yung desired outcome ko.

Thanks again, sis!

^Go sis! Yung brownie mix mo ba from scratch o ready-mix? If you will use Nutella, you may also consider adding a teaspoon of coffee to the brownie mix para di super sweet.

Other options would be to add nuts to add texture and crunch. Happy baking!

Hi, sis! Sometimes, ready-mix ginagamit ko, but I like making my brownies from scratch. We've been doing it since we were kids - my sis and I. Turo ng mom namin. Yay! They'll love the smell and the taste!

Will also try using nuts along with coffee. Hehe. Baka ok rin ang results!

Next in my list are pudding and cupcakes. Pero pag-aaralan ko pa talaga ang cupcakes. Haven't tried making it pa, eh. Try ko muna siguro yung ready-mix para makapag-trial and error. Yung pudding naman, still trying to look for my mom's recipe. I remember making some with her when we were younger.

Salamat sa mga suggestions mo, sis! Greatly appreciated! Weekend baking na naman ako ngayon! Yey!

^Very nice naman that you've been doing it since you were kids!  :)

My baking has taken a pause because I'm trying to lose weight, hehe! I cannot help but indulge after baking kasi. I haven't tried pudding!

Let me know how your new baked products turn out!  ;D

Hehe. Thanks, sis! Before kasi, parang I turned my back to baking kasi naging super busy sa work - and it reminds me so much of my mom who passed away in 2006. Pero, timing na I resigned and decided to go back to it.

Anyway, experiment muna ako sa pudding, then I'll try to post a photo of it para makita mo. I wish my mom wrote down her recipes! Most of the time kasi, hala bira siya kung mag-bake! :)

Bakers,

Did you enroll ba sa baking school bago kayo natuto mag bake or enough na yung info sa net?

Feeling ko baking is sooo complicated kase everything should be exact. Unlike sa cooking, madali lang remedyuhan if kulang timpla.

My private class na offer saken. Cake, bread and pastry making. 3days. 9500php yung fee. Tama na ba yun mga sis? Ingredients included na. Thank you

^Sis, I just like experimenting in the kitchen.

The thing though if you don't take actual classes is it's likely you'll waste ingredients along the way. That's what usually happens to me. :)

Not familiar with the cost of baking lessons too so sorry I can't help with that, hehe.

There are recipes talaga which calls for technique but if you already have equipment, ingredients and a recipe in mind, why not try? It takes practice pa rin naman. :)

^ I'm not a professional baker pero enough naman yung info online. Actually, when I was a kid I used to watch Heny Sison's cooking show. Basta dapat sundin lang yung exact measurements, substitutions (kung meron man), baking temp., and baking time.  :)

Thank you sisses. Will try muna siguro yung cupcake class to test if mag eenjoy ba ako sa baking. Hehe. If palpak, then kelangan pa talaga ng guidance. Haha

Hehe

I am not a professional baker din but i feel like recipe books and online sources are good reference materials. Baking is science so aside from reading recipes, read up on how temperature of oven, temperature of ingredients, , ratio of dry and wet ingredients works. Also, lagi ko inaabangan ang winners of james beard foundation and see kung sino ang baker of the year and read up on the winner. Amazon reviews of cook books helps too. So far, my favorite baker is joanne chang. She is a harvard gradute and worked with francois payard. Her explanations on her recipe books are very well written. So far, so good.

I finally took a leap and created frostings on my cupcakes! I used to not do it kase I thought it would be too much a hassle. Madali lang naman pala.  ;D

I'm not a pro baker din, hobby lang talaga. And I never took baking lessons, although na-eentice ako. My tip is to buy an oven thermometer, kase sometimes, di accurate yung temp sa oven natin. As for the recipes, I usually google them and if marami yung good reviews/comments, then I'd follow it. ;D

If you are a first timer, I suggest you start with cookies, easier and lesser yung ingredients compared to cupcakes.

^Agree with Oven Thermometer.

Another is buy kitchen scale. Akala ko mas hassle mag bake by weight pero mas convenient and of course mas accurate. Mas madali mag mise en place.

You can also start with Banana Bread.

^ The very first thing I baked was banana bread. ;D

No expert here either, I just learned to bake from reading recipes online and occassionally watching YouTube tutorials. :P

Bump into this thread..

I've been wanting to do some baking too pero wala akong proper lesson or classes attended.
