here sa bicol, we have what we call tinutong, a rice coffee.

madali lang sya gawin. lagay ka lang ng grain of rice sa pan (without oil) then set mo yung fire sa lowest. constant lang ang pag mix ng rice hanggang magblack sya. need lang na super hina ng apoy para hindi sya maging mapait. once black na yung rice, let it cool then pwede mo na sya itago sa container for future use.

to make the coffee na, just add 2 tablespoons of your rice coffee sa 3-4 cups of water. boil the water like how you would normally do. then once kumulo na, pwede mo na ilagay sa cup. just add sugar and okay na sya.

usually ginagamit ito para daw pang iwas pasma. madami sya uses, normally for traditional healing.

What kind of rice grain?

If I want it hot, brewed black sweetened coffee. Pag cold, I freeze the same thing in an ice cube tray tapos lagyan ng fresh milk.

I'm still figuring out the frappe ish version hehe.

Rice coffee! Napakasarap nya, may kakaibang lasa. Masarap sya with sugar and kremtop.

Haven't really tried making our own coffee. My husband, who's the coffee drinker, simply uses a French press para gumawa ng coffee niya. His favorite brand is Monk's Blend, which is made in Bukidnon.

May friends din akong chefs who make their own civet coffee. Medyo mahirap lang kasi rare yung civet coffee atsaka dapat talagang marunong gumawa ng kape. Mahal din yung gamit.

I remember na during my younger years, sa ancestral house namin, my lolo had a coffee grinder. Regular na naga-grind ng coffee; I think every weekend. Di ko na naaalala yung process, basta super bango siya! Atsaka manual pa yung pag-grind. Iniikot mo talaga yung handle nung grinder.😃

i just recently bought a french press and eager ako gamitin siya so i'm looking up how to amp up the usual coffee. read about making your own chai latte. basically it's just steeping both the coffee and the chai tea together sa french press. will try that next time! also i tried to make my own breve by mixing milk and all purpose cream, first time ko kahapon na as in half-and-half talaga, masarap and creamy but maybe i'll make it 2/3 milk and 1/3 cream para di masyado lasang lasa yung all purpose cream flavor. :)
