How not to be BORING?
« on: January 01, 2016, 03:45:59 pm »
Even the title is boring haha. How to improve character / personality? Improve....? How to have a*

I'm 20, often home alone. So yeah, I have  minimal human interaction, how pathetic. Been always that way heh. Social interaction is a fail, so much anxiety that I just reply with an awkward laugh / just avoid / not try at all to have a conversation. Plus... I have a resting b**ch face.

I'm sick of being awkward. Boring. Blah. I qant to have a character, a personality. Not thus basic person, boring... I even reply in conversation boringgg.... basic reply.

How can I develop my charact / personality with social anxiety?;because I s*ck at it real bad. I don't know how to react, no comebacks, aarghh. Just plain boring

Una sa lahat, don't be such a PEOPLE PLEASER. Dapat wag mo unahin yung perception nila sayo kasi YOU CAN'T PLEASE EVERYBODY. BE YOURSELF.

Maging comfortable ka with yourself. Ibahin mo mindset mo. Tandaan mo, others will see you the way you see yourself kaya wag mo i-down yung sarili mo. Kakaisip mo na boring ka, magiging "boring" ka nga talaga sa lahat. I-praise mo sarili mo. Like yourself. Talk to yourself the way you would talk to someone you love.

Tapos alamin mo mga strengths mo. Magfocus ka sa mga positive traits mo wag dun sa mga kulang sayo kung hindi wala nga talagang mangyayari sayo. 20 ka pa lang. You are so young. Marami pang pwede matutunan at idevelop sa sarili mo. Focus your attention on improving your strengths.

Thanks! That's my new year resolution actually, on point lahat hehe :) Done a bit of thinking, and I think being surrounded by negative people and problems hinders me from perceiving myself as something more positive. Its like my mindset is automatically negative, since positive things such as mood, happy moments, laughter, and as such RARELY happens around my place. Yep, I am surrounded with too much negativity, anger, hatred, that being nega becomes "normal" - eeeekkk

But I'm sick living and not enjoying it, so I want to be the happy or positive person in this house. My mom is too stressed out, she is not happy, she always cry because of the chaos and hatred in our house. Besides our home, bad things also happened outdoors. Her STUPID *ss boss still does not promote her! Work=Main source of stress. She's been doing the position she should have gotten for THREE years, and her salary is nothing compared to the two positions that she's juggling. The hell. And a llt of other things...

Being surrounded by positive people to influence me is somehow the hard part? It will be the opposite. I should change and be the positive influence to them, so heroic lol.

I do wish to change this year. I pity myself, and don't believe in myself, and that hinders me on a lot of things. I'm too insecure, because I am indeed not good at anything. So yeah...

1. Like and believe in self
2. Other ways to be surrounded w/ positiveness
3. Change mindset
4. Not let negativity to bring me down (having hard time in this)
= more productive, and enjoying life.

Life is not hard, I think it will just depend on what you do to not make it not hard. Instead of hard, make living a pleasant and memorable experience. Haha

Mas common ang mindset na 'i am sad because of the negativity around me'. Nothing wrong with that, naapektuhan naman talaga tayo ng mga bagay bagay sa paligid natin. Pero para sa akin, my truth is the opposite of that. Negative things surround me because i am sad. I am a strong believer of the law of attraction. Yung mga negative stuff around us, we have little to no control over them. However, we can have total control of ourselves and our thoughts. Yung mindset natin, yun ang pwede nating baguhin. So instead of blaming the negativity around you sa pagiging boring and miserable mo, why not focus on building your positive emotions. Madali lang maging masaya, you just have to choose to be happy all the time. Lahat ng insecurities mo, nasa isip mo lang. If only we realize how powerful our thoughts are, we wouldn't dare think of negativity, kahit pa puro negative ang nakikita ng mata natin. We see bad things kasi we think bad things. if you change your mindset, it can change everything in your life.

If you have time, try to read The Secret. Or maybe watch the movie para mas mabilis. I think a full version is available on youtube.

Good luck.

I have to agree with changing the mindset, which is my goal. But I have to disagree on the "blaming" part, I'm not "blaming" those factors, but I think the post makes it sound that way? But i was rather just stating one factor that may be the cause why I'm such a pessimistic person hehe :)

Changing mindset will take a lot of effort and time for me, because that's how I think for more than 15 years (?? *hwat*). Baby steps... Baby steps...

The question now will be how to change your mindset, perception on things, when you pretty much think that way for a long period of time

First of all, stop being too hard on yourself. Sa pagkakabasa ko ng post mo I didn't find you boring at all, but there's so much negativity that if I were to meet you in person I probably would stay away. I'm saying this bluntly but I hope you wouldn't take it as another reason to see yourself in a negative way but a push sana to change your view about yourself.

So, to answer your question.. Interesting is in the eyes of the beholder. But normally interesting people are confident and they know/do something that you don't. So my advice is: seek adventures, find your hobby/passion and share it to your friends, listen during conversation (i.e., don't talk about yourself all the time).

Agree na you shouldn't do this to please other people but to improve your character. If your character shines makikita naman yan ng ibang tao. :)

I'm a boring person din kahit walang nagsasabi sa akin but I sometimes love being boring. Boring in everything. If you think you are a boring person, do not ever try to please everybody. I've tried to please people around me and it sucks. Hindi din ako naging masaya. That is a big no.

Same here sis. I have a friend who told me that I am boring. What bores her is that I don't want to go out for clubbing or boys hunting or anything. Then she just suddenly left.. No hellos or no warnings that she will leave. She did not contact me at all. This usually happens to most of the friends and acquaintances I meet since I was in high school. I rarely find friends who enjoy my company and I make it a point that I keep them. I do not want to spend time and effort to people who doesn't want me or doesn't find me enjoyable.

Good thing I have a husband who buys all my jokes and my chosen activities. We are both home buddys and I thank God we share the same interests. :)

I think if people are unable to see the interesting parts of you, then they're just not meant to be your friends--lalo na siguro if they go out of their way to TELL you you're boring. Kahit na out of concern pa yan or whatever, why would you need to conform to their idea of being an interesting person?

I just think life is too short to spend with people who don't share your interests. I think everybody is interesting in their own way, and it's just a matter of finding the right company. "Being boring" is only a problem if you're complaining that you're unhappy and you personally want a little more excitement in life. If it's only a problem because other people are telling you so, politely inform them that they have nothing to worry about and you're doing fine.

i think im boring based on what i do. before kasi im a social butterfly, pala gimik, pala tambay sa coffee shops, but now, id rather spend my night in my room reading books or watching movies kesa pumarty and gumastos sa labas. if ever naman na magcocoffee ako sa labas, mas na eenjoy ko pag magisa ako or pag may 1 friend ako na kasama na sensible kausap. siguro out of maturity na rin.  ;D kaya lang pag binabalikan ko yung memories ng lifestyle ko before, masaya, kasi parang ang active ng life ko non compared ngayon na chill na lang. sometimes nalulungkot ako pag yung ibang friends ko lalabas with tas mapapaisip ako na bat kaya di na nya ako niyayaya? tapos bigla kong maiisip na okay lang atleast makakatulog ako ng mas maaga and di ako mahahaggard kakaparty then magigising ako sa morning without any regrets  ;D parang di ko na rin kasi maimagine na ibabalik ko pa yung old lifestyle ko since inayawan ko na yun. aside sa magastos, nakakasira ng figure yung palaging pumaparty sa labas esp kung heavy drinker ka  :P Now i value sleep and my [textspeak!] with myself already.

first of all maybe stop pitying yourself, on how boring you are and all that. you overthink it too much and you tend to try so hard na nagiging fake na. just let go and be yourself, maybe that way you wont be boring anymore and you wont think na you're boring.

i have always thought i'm boring. i do boring things. i prefer to stay at home and read a book than go out with friends all that. i feel a bit uncomfortable around people etc. pero when i started really being myself (during clerkship lol), showed the good and the bad part of me, people seem to accept it. i became kinda like "the star" lol. everyone finds me fun to be with etc. i bring laughter around whenever i go lol. basta. i'm not flattering myself but yun, i just went with it and it flowed lang.
