Depende sa industry... May mga unique perks ang bawat isa per industry.

Pag nurse at teacher mas ok sa Government kesa sa private. Pero sa ibang field I think mas ok sa Private.

Pero kung ako ang papipiliin, Ayaw ko sa Government magtrabaho pag sa Pinas.

^ Corruption cases. Sa ngayon, pansin ko sa ibang government agencies, parang walang sense of accountability at competence. Sa araw araw na nakikita ko ang mga infra at sistema na gawa ng government lagi ako napapatanong sa sarili ko... Sino ba ang nag e-evaluate ng performance ng mga ito? bakit palpak at patuloy pa ring palpak? Not to blame the employees pero mostly may kinalaman sa higher ups.

I work in the Government. At masakit din makarinig madalas ng mga negative comments. Nagegeneralize kasi eh. Hindi naman po porket ginagawa ng ilan eh ginagawa na ng lahat. Respeto na lang din for those public servants na malinis ang konsensya at nagttrabaho ng maayos. Di ba puwedeng appreciation and commendation naman for those employees? Try din natin misan. Baka makatulong sa pag-multiply ng mga katulad nila.

In terms of benefits, mejo limited (at least, for this agency). Lahat kasi ng budget nanggagaling at dumadaan muna sa DBM. 


I used to work in a private company also. I can say mas maraming benefits dito, sariling budget naman kasi ng kumpanya ang gagamitin.

Pinaka gusto ko yung may libreng health card. Ang ayoko lang yung kailangan pa yata mamatay ka muna bago ka makapag leave. LOL.

Well, hindi porket sinabing private company e wala nang anomalya. Of course kung ano meron sa government meron din nyan sa private for sure, politikahan, palakasan, etc. Kahit saan ka naman magpunta eh. I understand na ang mata talaga ng pinoy ay nasa mga taong gobyerno. Di mo rin naman talaga sila masisisi. Di naman natin talaga maitatanggi ang kapalpakan ng maraming mamamayang gobyerno. Only in the Philippines Kaya vote wisely. LOL (out of topic na)

So far, mas gusto ko working in a government agency. Kahit pa maraming negativities na ibato itong mga "tax payers" na nagpapasweldo at nagpapalamon daw sa amin. Hehe. FYI, tax payers din po kami. Baka mas malaki pa nga ang kaltas samin Wala kaming takas sa BIR, while ang ibang private pwede pang umistyle. Ang galing magtago, like ibibigay in a staggered pattern yung bonus para lang di makaltasan. Hihi. Kanya kanyang strategy.

^ I feel you sis. Minsan hindi sa employee ang prob kundi sa management talaga. At kahit anong gawin ng mga hamak na empleyado, walang impact at mangyayari dahil yung management ang may issues.

Choosing between a private company or a government agency on where to work is crucial.

I once worked as a Consultant in one government agency. However, due to proximity, I refused when a plantilla/permanent position was offered to me. (I am convincing myself that the real reason why I refused is the proximity thing.) Perhaps, I am too afraid to be eaten by the system if there was such. I felt for one that makisama ka, may mali. Hindi ka makisama, may mali. If you favored one, galit ang kabila. If I stayed sa government, restricted din ang practice or kilos in a certain sense kasi sumusweldo ka na sa government hindi ka na pwede magpractice ng profession mo unless may authority.

Sa private company, definitely mas maluwag. Yung security lang financially, kailangan mo paghirapan.

In the end, considerations in deciding:
1. compensation
2. career growth
3. benefits/incentives
4. proximity
5. happiness/contentment

Depende siguro, kung pwede both na lang? like sa case kasi ng husband ko, he works for a government institution pero part time lang...last salary na nareceive nya was for sept last year pa, almost 4 months nang walang sweldo, ganun kaefficient 😬 So kung eto lang ang source of income, never mind na lang, literal na nganga kami...buti na lang employed din sya sa private institutions na regular magbigay ng salary so main source of income namin comes from the private institution, anything he receives from the government additional savings na lang for us..

I've been working in private company in PH all the time. I'm currently here in Doha and planning to go home for good. I would love to work in government if there's any chance.

^^Actually, depende rin talaga. Maraming malalaking kompanya ang maganda ang benefits at maganda magpasweldo na parang hindi ko naman maranasan ngayon sa government. At yun ang namimiss ko sa private company na pinasukan ko before - yung halos buwan buwan na incentives, health card, uniform na maganda, etc. LOL. Saka, believe me, may palakasan system kahit san ka magpunta. Sa Pinas pa ba?! Hihi.

It depends where you get accepted. 

Not all government agencies are corrupt. do your research on the government agency or office you are interested in.  mahirap mag generalize at makinig sa ibang tao lalo't its all heresay and nababasa lang sa press.  may ibang nananahimik na agencies naman dyan, and depende sa kung anong agency ka papasok for the benefits and perks.  Again, do your research, there are government agencies that pay well and provide benefits that can match private companies.

Not all private companies pay well and provide better benefits.  Again, it depends so you better do your research as well on the companies you are interested in.  Some will offer high compensation packages, but, will expect nothing less from its employees.  They will get their money's worth, of course. They're doing business for profit, hindi para magbigay ng mataas na sweldo lang basta basta.

If security of tenure is a factor, go for government.

As long as wala kang gagawing hindi maganda (like mag-nakaw ng pera ng agency kung saan ka nagwo-work), then you can expect to be employed until retirement, kahit petiks ang performance mo.

For me, private companies.  Salaries and benefits are not artificially suppressed by any standardization laws.  Your compensation is determined by market forces and how well you negotiate and perform.

Me, private. My husband is a specialist working in a GOCC. Yes, they say okay magretire sa government. But the salary, it's really standardized. Hindi competitive sa industry. Whereas sa private, your pay is equivalent to your years of experience and skills.

Kung salary lang, depende din sa agency eh, meron kasing competitive naman ang salary compared sa private.
Work-life balance wise, mas okay sa government. You can file your VL if you want to, unlike in private, depends on your boss if he will approve it.

By the way, I work in the government. I'm always wondering what if I chose to work in the private sector instead.

depende sa industry.

first job ko is sa teaching industry at ang baba ng salary kahit college instructor ka na may full load. kalahati lang ang sweldo namin sa sweldo ng mga public school teachers. tapos kung mag MA ka naman konti lang ang increase sa private university kaya iba kong co-teacher nuon gustong lumipat sa state universities and colleges kasi ang laki ng perks kumpara sa private.

sa government naman, nag try din ako mag hanap ng job postings nila. siguro depende din pero sa IT graduate na kagaya ko kailangan ata may experience nako at nakapag MA bago ko umabot sa mataas na salary sa gov't pero ok ok naman kasi ok daw ang work schedule sa government at omadali ma permanent lalo na pagka CSC passer para sa walang board ang course o board passer.

sa private madami naman akong nababalitaan na ok na perks sa IT industry nila, yun nga lang ang hirap makapasok sa experience ko. nakapasa ka man sa exams at interviews ang higpit naman nila sa background check, kahit hindi naman ako nag AWOL sa previous work ko.

This is just my opinion, I meant no offense if you fall under the kind of private company/govt agency that I'm describing. Observation ko lang yan, but of course may exception sa iba din.

Sa private company, it depends sa owner. Ang napansin ko, western owned companies tend to have higher salaries & more benefits compared to companies owned by Chinese. Also, pag western owned, kung ano lang job mo, yun lang. kung sa Chinese, parang all around ka kahit na may "job title" ka. And yes, may corruption din sa private companies. Retail sales kami sa family business, ang daming big companies na bumibili sa amin na gusto magpapatong ng prices.

Sa govt agencies, I feel sorry for the innocent victims. Meron  mga iba na maganda and mabubuti loob who are sincere in doing their job pero nadadamay sila sa mga corrupt officials.  Someone mentioned why not praise them instead of concentrating on the bad officials? This is my answer: Why should we praise them when it is their job to serve the Filipinos in the first place? I'm not saying na pwede natin tarayan or abusuhin ang mga govt officials. All I'm saying is that they are in the gov't to do gov't related work. We, as citizens, should do our job by following the correct procedure in whatever we need from a gov't agency. Giving our sincerest thank you after they have helped us with our concern is also a good. But, to the point na kailangan pa i-publicize yun every good action nila... what for? Again, I'm not saying all gov't agencies ha. Meron lang kasi ako nakikita sa facebook (when I still had one before) na people overly praise their lgu when their city hall has more chairs for people to wait during payment period of real estate tax. Parang hello, hindi ba trabaho naman talaga ng lgu to provide a comfortable waiting area especially if alam nila madaming tao? Feel ko masyado ng bad image ang gov't natin to the point na when they actually do their job, people tend to always publicize and hype it. To be fair, the same din pov ko sa ganyan when it comes to private companies.
