Mommies, when did/do you plan on weaning your little ones from latching or breastfeeding all together? Howd you do it? I have a 14 month old and ang hina talaga kumain. Mas gusto dumede lang talaga. Minsan even in the middle of meal time maglalatch siya tsaka ulit susubo. Ang pagdede ginagawa niyang bisyo. Maglalaro tapos dedede, tatakbo ulit tapos pagbalik dede ulit. Wala ako matapos sa bahay, and tulad nung weekend i was sent to the er and was advised to be admitted, i declined kasi i breastfeed...HAMA tuloy labas ko lol! syempre si baby muna :) pero napaisip ako pano kung kailangang kailangan.. (pero sana wala namang ganun) also i want to work na ulit... or maybe when she turns 2.
I tried bottle feeding with expressed milk or cup din, wala talaga. Is there any way na medyo dahand dahan ang process?

^my 15 m/o used to be like that too sis. Ang hina mag solids last month. But a couple of weeks ago biglang nag change yung appetite nya kasi pag mealtime we let her hold her food, even rice. Yung dati na 2 tablespoons nya now eh 1 full bowl of rice na kahit nag kakamay sya. Try mo din sis, let her explore her food. Yes a bit messy and it takes a lot of patience. Imagine 30 minutes to 1 hour sya sa high chair nya, Kala mo naglalaro lang but she's really eating.

My OB said bumabawi sya sa gatas kasi mahina sya mag solids dati. As of now kahit malakas na kumain, malakas pa rin mag gatas. Ayaw nya mag bote, she prefers glass or sometimes with a straw pag nagmilk if not direct latch.

Try mo Lang din sis :)

^ hi sweetsweet, my 13 month old gained only a pound from april to june. and i am kind of worried.

since reaching her 7th month,  she takes very little pumped milk now because she prefers her milk directly from me. around 6-8 oz lang dinedede nya sa bottle within the 11-hour period that i am away for work.

her yaya feeds her nutritious food especially sinigang, which she loves. but i think she should be eating more. i want to try your suggestion regarding lettting her explore/play with her food. but have you tried that with rice and soup?

^yes sis actually that's her meal lagi, rice and sinigang. But separate yung sabaw because the ending is she will bathe herself with it haha.

She wasn't gaining din after her 8th month, when she started walking (and running!) lalo pa pumayat. Her pedia suggested that we mix Cellife with her water para tumaba but still mahina pa din. Pina blood test and dun nakita na mababa ang levels ng iron nya, so nag vitamins but sinusuka nya kasama food :(

Unli latch Lang talaga Kami every hour para bumawi sa food nya, since I'm working from home din.

I hope this works for you. Are you a member of breastfeeding pinays in fb? Madami tips din dun :)

Thank you for the tips. actually her pedia has prescribed Sangobion baby months ago pa. along with Ceelin Plius and Cherifer. pero minsan tinitgil ko. yes, member ako sa Breastfeeding Pinays. and dun ko nababasa lagi na hindi daw totoo na kelangan ng baby ng vitamins so inistop ko yung vitamins. pero naisip ko ituloy ko na lang ulit. i already bought another set of her vitamins yesterday.

pinapahawak na rin namin siya ng bread, fruits and crackers. even veggies, pero yun nga. nagkakalat. haha. thank you.

@sweetsweet thanks for the suggestions... well, lately malakas na siya kumain, baka phase lang. We do baby-led kaya lang breakfast lang kasi may time pa ko mag ligpit after and mas may patience ako lol... pag lunch dinner sinusubuan ko na. Regarding sa milk, i think bumabawi din siya sa breastfeeding kasi i think she knows its readily available anytime, strike anywhere lol... sabi ni pedia kung gusto ni lo mag bf til she's 5 hayaan ko lang, its good for the 2 of us. Problema ko lang talaga hindi ako makaalis ng hindi siya bitbit.hindi siya marunong marunong magstraw and sort of sablay pa din siya mag baso on her own even pag assisted. Laging nasasamid.

^yes, specially honey. We strictly followed TK din when my daughter started her solids. Fruits and veggies, no meat talaga. When she turned 12months i started to add a little salt na and chicken, fish, pasta and whole wheat bread. Ngayon, she's 15 months na, i give her table food na. :( Though until now i dont give her anything na masugar. No chocolates, candies, ice cream, cookies, cake and junk food. She still dede anytime (anywhere) she likes. Unlilatching pa din.

Mommies, do you do breastsleeping? Kami kasi until now,oo. Kaya lang i noticed she still comfort feeds. At her age dapat daw diretso na magsleep. I say, tulog naman siya while dumedede hahahahaha... pero yun nga, what do you do about breastsleeping at this age... dapat ba hindi na nagfefeed sa pagtulog?

^sis my LO is 14 months and we do breastsleeping as well, especially during naps. She could nap for 2 hours na nakalatch. Lol. When she does, nagpapaparty ako haha! Kaya totally wala akong nagagawa at all when she's napping kasi parehas kaming nasa bed. Otherwise, she'll up in 30 minutes. Literal na 1 sleep cycle lang.

Sa gabi naman, she still comfort feeds pero hindi naman matagal. Usually 5 minutes then sya na bibitaw then tulog na ulit. My daughter used to wake up around 10x at night to comfort feed, until last month. This month, mga 2-3x na lang. Minsan dumidirecho na ng 5 hours sleep without latch. Dati sobrang bothered ako, especially when she's up almost every 30 minutes para dumede.

Pero hindi ganun baby ko eh, so we'll just make do with what works for us now. Although nagbabasa ako before about night weaning, possible naman sya, try to read about it din sis, baka may mga tips kang makuha. Usually ang suggestion dun is to let baby sleep beside daddy para when she wakes up walang amoy milk, tapos let daddy put her back to sleep through rocking, tapping, etc

Lol! Wfh and Night shift kasi si hubby kaya hindi pwedeng pabayaang umiyak.

^like simang, we are still breastsleeping at 14 mos. i do not know when she will wean but i have also started reading about it.. i am a full time working mom, her yaya takes care of her while i am away for the day. she takes 5 to 8 ounces of milk from her Pigeon bottle to help her sleep while I am at work. i have also started to introduce soy milk and fresh cow's milk to her, and she drinks them as beverage in a glass. she also eats 3 meals in a day with snacks in between.:)

she is still spoon fed and we do not exactly follow baby led weaning. but we give her pieces of veggies, fish and meat on her booster seat tray because she likes to hold and play with her food and feed herself. she likes to hold her own spoon while being fed by yaya. so we let her do that and she tries to feed herself with her spoon. nagkakalat talaga siya tuwing kumakain. and she does not like to wear a bib.

I never tried breastsleeping so it was veeeerrry hard at the beginning. It was not in my plan to co-sleep kaya bumabangon talaga ako every 2 hours except for one feeding (my husband feeds baby with expressed milk in a bottle), so I can have consecutive 3-4 hours of sleep. Hindi ko ma-imagine paano ko nalagpasan yun. Haha. Although, the reward is ok naman. Unti-unti humaba yung tulog ni baby starting with the 2nd month. Kung dati, every 2 hours gising, by the 2nd month, he started sleeping for 4 hours during the night until naging 6 hours until it reach to 9-10 hours by the time he turned 4 months. Our sleep training, of course, has pedia's go signal.

I was excited for the 6th month to start on solids. Lol. Tikim tikim lang daw sabi ng pedia but we were advised to start on baby cereals, and meat especially eggs.

Back to breastfeeding.  I was able to exclusively breastfeed my eldest (she's 8 now) for 5 mos. only.  I had a corporate job then.  Now that I work-from-home, sana ma-breastfeed ko ang bunso ko longer, one year man lang. I gave birth Aug. 1. :)

I think in the recent years, mas may chance tayo mag succeed in breastfeeding than say 5-8 years ago. mas maraming resources, mas informed ang hospitals, may mga breastfeeding counsellors. goodluck sa Inyo mommies!

Ayoko naman din i fm si baby. Mag ti-3months na po sya next week.

Ganun ba sis. Kahit less than 5 minutes lang siya dumede?
