Don't Compare Your Own Wedding
« on: November 03, 2015, 10:36:57 am »
I hauled this from the Bride & Breakfast
i am sharing it with fellow brides, kasi napansin ko my bride-friends as well sa FB newsfeed they tend to show off, outdo or compare their prenups/wedding

Don't ever compare your own wedding to others' you've attended.
The goal is not to outdo others' weddings.
The goal is to make it personal & relevant to you as a couple,
as well as the family & friends that will spend the day with you.

A wedding is not just a showcase of style, but a celebration
of love & commitment.
That is not what you will remember 10 or 20 years from now.
Think out of the box and dont be afraid to not to follow
every cookie cutter
rule about how to do a Filipino wedding.
 :)

so in the chaotic wedding preparations & fiasco of mixed opinions about our weddings
we should keep calm, just be ourselves & let it go, let it fly!

Afterall, it is Our Day! Not Theirs!  ;D

True.. But I remember on coordinator I talked to and she told me that weddings these days tend to become a production number now instead of being an intimate affair.

I so agree with this. Sabi nga ni h2b the wedding is for the both of us. Not for our families most especially not for our guests. Pero syempre we both want a good wedding but not to the extent na other things or worse more important things would be compromised.

Thanks for sharing this! Sometimes I get caught up in the hype of the wedding industry in the Philippines. May pagka-production number na nga minsan. I mean do we really need a pre-nup shoot, a save-the-date photo AND video? I am by no means criticizing those who have availed those services. Business is business and to each their own. But sometimes I wish that more importance be placed on the marriage and practices (i.e. having guests stay for the entire reception and not just eat and run, having guests actually dance when it's time to party) rather than focusing on superficial elements of a wedding (i.e., styling, photo booth, food carts, giveaways). I mean wala naman mga yan nung sinaunang panahon na kinasal parents ko but their marriage remains strong nonetheless. Anyway, that's just my two cents.

Totally true..but then again because of unlikely pressure you would still resort to do them kasi nga once in a lifetime lang sya. May instances din naman na having one appears beneficial like for the save the date for example espc if you have guests or family members coming from abroad na you guys would definitely want sa wedding nyo. Fiance and I didn't intend to make one since okay na kami with prenup shoot but then inquiries from families and guests who are based abroad kept on coming so we decided to make our own na lang.

I'm happy that my (close) friends' weddings were varied. From the usual grandiose ones, simple but still had a long guest list to someone who literally ran away from the fanfare. This puts less pressure on me, aside from getting married years after them, to keep up with what they had.

Thanks for this reminder sis cornflakegirl  :)
Anyway, yes, focus on your partner, focus on your union in front of God

Very true sis Chili1113 expect na namin ni H2B na may masasabi ang mga tao sa amin at baka ma compare pa kami sa iba kaya there is really no point of exerting effort to please everyone.

If i would have to decide for my own wedding i would want a very very intimate one. For me lang naman.

No-no. Every wedding is beautiful. After all, It's better to have a beautiful marriage than have a beautiful wedding. :)

I am happy that there is a thread like this as a wake up call for the soon to be couples who are also planning their wedding too.

Ika nga  ni Bo Sanchez wedding is just 60 minutes while the marriage is 60 years.

I also agree na those prenup shoots, save the date and everything wala yan nung kapanahunan ng parents natin saka kailan ko lang rin nakita yan. I am not against with it lalo na sa trip ng iba pero in my opinion it is just a bonus part or parang spice sa wedding preparation. In my case nga ayoko nyan kasi I don't want to pay suppliers for me to act or if I want it as long as ako gagawa ng storyboard and style. But I totally appreciate others seeing those pre nup shoots lalo na kung bagay sa kanila.

More so kapag kasal ang usapan mas nagiging focus pa sa reception rather than sa church.

And same here I would rather want the intimate one as in ang pipiliin ko yung alam kong may concern sa pag-aasawa namin. I don't want to invite other relatives kahit na first cousin ko pa na alam ko namang ang concern lang naman niya is just the wedding and reception. Yung puro show ang gusto. I could imagine the agony if my mom will force me to invite the people I don't like na baka it will end up na lang na hindi na lang namin itutuloy kasi kasal na kami.

Madami kami friends and kamag anak na kinasal last year and this year. Nakakainis lang na hindi kami nag cocompare pero other people ang hilig mag compare. Naku even a relative telling me na di magpapadaig si ganito kaya bongga kasal. I always tell them, ayun gusto nila let them. Di sa pabonggahan yan. Kami pinili namin simple wedding kahit Kasi mas inisip namin ang after wedding kesa sa 1 day na gastos lang. Kung choice nila bongahan kasal nila, let them.

^I couldn't agree with you more sis belle_v2g. ☺☺ All of us brides dream to have the perfect wedding, and there's nothing wrong with that. But sometimes wedding planning consume us brides so much, that we forget that all of these will be forgotten days, weeks, months after our wedding day. Sabi nga ng isang pari, if only couples spend so much planning on their marriage as they do on their wedding day, maybe there would be less complications and less problems in families. 😊

^ditto. hence, the real essence of a wedding is distorted. sad reality.
if the main purpose only is to brag, magpa sosyal or to make others feel inferior, baka need ulit bumalik kay father para mag seminar. hehe! :)
