all about the Second Trimester
« on: November 02, 2015, 07:27:24 am »
Hi sis, wala pa ata thread about the 2nd trimester...

So sa mga graduate na ng First Tri, (like me) here's our thread... So far, ano na na-experience nyo?

Ako, nag-sstart na sumakit lower back ko... I'm not sure if it is pelvic girdle pain (PGP). I called my doctor about my lower back pain ang sabi nya for the meantime i-rest ko lang daw and observe (wala naman din spotting). I hope everthing will be fine. mas madalas sumakit pag upo-tayo-upo-tayo ang ginagawa ko sa office.

Second tri is the best time ever. No more morning sickness, but you're not yet super heavy. I'm on my third tri na and ang bigat ko na. Ang hirap na matulog and gumalaw galaw. I also have to watch what I eat now. Not like in my second tri when I was actually ordered to gain weight to make up for all my morning sickness in my first tri.

^entering second trimester na rin. 13w4d. ganyan din ang nararamdaman ko, lower back pain, especially pag matagal akong umuupo. according sa article na nabasa ko sa babycenter.com, normal lang itong naeexperience ng mga pregnant women.

Excerpt from the article: "Low back pain during pregnancy"
Link: http://www.babycenter.com/0_low-back-pain-during-pregnancy_9402.[textspeak!]

"What's causing my back pain?

You can probably blame your growing uterus and hormonal changes for your aching back.

Your expanding uterus shifts your center of gravity and stretches out and weakens your abdominal muscles, changing your posture and putting strain on your back. It may also cause back pain if it's pressing on a nerve. In addition, the extra weight you're carrying means more work for your muscles and increased stress on your joints, which is why your back may feel worse at the end of the day.

What's more, hormonal changes in pregnancy loosen your joints and the ligaments that attach your pelvic bones to your spine. This can make you feel less stable and cause pain when you walk, stand, sit for long periods, roll over in bed, get out of a low chair or the tub, bend, or lift things.

You're not alone. As many as three-quarters of pregnant women experience back pain at some point. Most often the pain appears in the later months or becomes worse as pregnancy progresses. It may also persist after the baby arrives, but postpartum back pain usually resolves in a few months.

The good news is that there's no link between back pain and pregnancy outcome.
What kinds of low back pain are common in pregnancy?

Experts describe two common patterns of low back pain in pregnancy: Lumbar pain occurs in the area of the lumbar vertebrae in your lower back, and posterior pelvic pain is felt in the back of your pelvis. Some women have symptoms of both types of low back pain.

Lumbar pain is like the low back pain you may have experienced before you were pregnant. You feel it over and around your spine approximately at the level of your waist. You might also have pain that radiates to your legs. Sitting or standing for long periods of time and lifting usually make it worse, and it tends to be more intense at the end of the day.

Even more pregnant women have posterior pelvic pain, which is felt lower on your body than lumbar pain. You may feel it deep inside the buttocks, on one or both sides or the back of your thighs. It may be triggered by activities such as walking, climbing stairs, getting in and out of a tub or a low chair, rolling over in bed, or twisting and lifting.

Positions in which you're bent at the waist – such as sitting in a chair and leaning forward while working at a desk – may make posterior pelvic pain worse. Women with posterior pelvic pain are also more likely to have pain over their pubic bone."

^^sis, buy a back pillow. Yung made for people talaga who are prone to back pain like office people who sit all day. Nakakatulong sya. I use it in the car while in transit and I use it in the office.

Prenatal Pilates also helps. But get approva first from your doc. Matagal na kasi ako nagpipilates, even before I got pregnant. Pero ok talaga ang Prenatal Pilates even for beginners.

I'm on my 16th weeks, no back pains but I am feeling numbness sa arms at lalo na sa hands ko pag nakahiga.  Di ko pa natatanong ang OB ko.  I don't know what's causing this, kahit di ko nadadaganan, nagigising ako kasi masakit at numb na.  Weird kasi pagnakahiga lang naman ako.  Also, napapansin ko parang lumalaki ilong ko.  :(  May natural remedy pa mga sis na di mag swell ilong? lol.

thanks sis fionaapple and caterpillar-girl and  for the suggestions.

sis Wantstobeamom, ang alam ko ang pag swell ng ilong is really part ng pagbubuntis... and sabi ng matatanda, pag lumalaki daw ilong lalake daw ang baby... :)

yey! Entering second trimester!
Lately medyo nawawala na ang pagkaselan ko sa food..except for garlic and white onions! Galit pa din ang ilong ko. So hopefully mawala na sya soon.
Ako din may backpain lalo na pag bumabyahe, kaya bumili ako back pillow pang support ba. :)

Guess, I just have to deal with this.  hehe.
Unfair naman, yung sis-in-law ko boy naging baby nila pero di lumaki ilong nya.  Nagswell lang konti ang mga paa nya.
