How do you encourage/teach your kids to eat on their own???

Hi mga sis! Kindly share your experience on how did you teach your kids to eat on their own. TIA

I first held the spoon with her so alam nya yung action na kukuha ng food and then subo... we did that ng sandali lang maybe less than a week. Then, we let her feed herself na. It was messy so we bought her a pocketed a bib (like http://www.babybunting.com.au/jj-cole-large-pvc-bib-pink-blush.html) so it can catch lahat ng di nya nasusubo she eats with us on her high chair so she sees us and I think that helped too

took her maybe 3-4 weeks to really get the hang of it

we started late maybe 22 months old kasi my Mum lives with us and ang daming komento na kesyo kawawa naman naku ang liit liit pa nyan!

Hi mga sis. Nung 13 mos pa lang si baby, kumakain na sya using spoon and fork. Kasabay namen sya ni hubby kapag weekends. Kung ano yung nakikita nya, gagayahin nya kahit hindi turuan.kapag nasawa sya, nag kakamay sya.

ang problem namin kay DD is ayaw nyang mag stay sa seat nya during mealtime... takbo ng takbo.... ayaw naman nya ng naka-strap sa high chair....

We waited for her to be ready sa spoon and fork. Nung nakita namin na curious sya sa spoon binigyan namin sya. Now, she is 11 months and attempting to eat on her own. So when we feed her dalawa nakaprepare na lalagyan, isa na konti for her and isa for me na isusubo ko sa kanya.

When my daughter was 1 year and few months palagi ko na sya nilalagay sa high chair and kasabay ko sya kumakain. Super messy grabe pero hinayaan ko lang sya. Hanggang sa natuto na. Basta ang no-no is yung sanaying susubuan ng food nang nakaharap sa tv. Asahan nyo puro nguya hindi naman i swallow yung food or bago i swallow siyam siyam ang aabutin.

^guilty ako jan sis.  para lang kumain ang toddler ko, kailangan most of the time nakaharap sa TV or hawak nya ang phone or tablet. minsan naman may mood sya na kakain sya mag-isa but mas madalas na hindi

^napansin ko na ganyan kasi yung niece ko grade 1 na sinusubuan pa din ng yaya.

My daughter learned to eat on her own at 3 years old and it's mostly because that was the last time I had a yaya. Now my daughter is 5. We bought her a small set of spoon and fork tapos pinabayaan ko lang kumain kasabay namin after I cut up her ulam. I told her that she has to learn how to do that cus she was about to enter summer school that time. Paminsan sinusubuan pa din namin up to when she turned 4 years old para mapabilis minsan especially pag may school. Syempre kase pag pinabayaan sya, mejo mabagal.

When we eat,  walang TV, walang phones. Ever since she was a toddler, pag meal time talaga, kasabay namin sa table (using a high chair) and I ask the helper to turn the TV off. Ayoko kase matulad sa mga pamangkin ko na hinahabol pa para subuan or pinapakain sa harap ng TV.

Maarte lang daughter ko when her dad is around, konting kibot, gusto ipaayos sa Daddy nya yung food, ipa cut yung kung ano-ano, ipaayos yung rice, kahit kaya naman nya. But when I'm with them, I tell her to do things on her own. Kaya naman, umaarte lang hehe
