Hi! Is it common to hire a professional emcee? Acceptable pa ba kung relative or close friend mag-emcee? Or better to get a professional?

For me sis. Even if I have friends that can host, they can't cater to some of the profile of my guests... I was afraid that they'll be relax since friends but seem offensive to others. But if intimate naman and you really trust someone who can handle your program why not, it will really cut costs. It's your personal choice at the end of the day

In my 1st wedding some friends of ours did the hosting and it was OK. They were given the script by our coordinator and they just read it. It was all good, until that they included a surprise speech from a friend of the groom who wasn't prepared and sounded incoherent and said some awkward things. They meant well and  they assumed it would please us but it didn't. So if you get a friend, just make sure they don't have any surprise antics up their sleeve hehe.

This time we are also having our friend host the wedding., but he is a professional. My coordinator said she will email him the outline and just brief him before the wedding. No need na daw to meet him ahead of time since he is really a good pro.

On my friend's wedding, she got one of our friends as her Emcee, its a shotgun wedding so parang wala syang choice, biglaan na lahat, budgeted pa. Ok naman, though madaming awkward na nangyari, medyo may mga tawanan na kame lang nkakaintindi.

Pero it went well kasi magaling naman sila, bading pa yung isa, so nakakatawa din. 

Acceptable naman na friend or relative lang, though better to hire professional pa din.

I kinda toyed with idea of having our friends as hosts. Fiance's friend is really maPR and comfy with talking in front of a large crowd while my friend is a actually an up and coming wedding host. It would have saved us a lot of money and Im sure theyll have a connection with our audience. The thing though, they have already hosted 3 of our friends weddings already. I also thought that I want them to be relaxed during our wedding. Im sure they wouldnt mind hosting our wedding pero wala lang.  I guess gusto ko lang din maiba thats why we opted to get a professional host instead.

Tempting talaga!  I really want to cut costs by asking a friend or relative to be emcee…

But as you all pointed out, hiring a pro who has a good track record seems to be a safer option. Will start looking.

I went to 2 weddings where friends were allowed to co-host/ host... ayayay. Medyo sabog even if the jokes they cracked were funny. Pero halata mo na madaming mali so dinadaan sa humor. Biglang may nakakalimutan na segment. May mga mali na iniintroduce, ganun. Medyo naging informal. But thats fine if you want things to be kinda casual. Mas bagay kung bata ang crowd, kasi the elders dont like it that way.

Safer padin ang pro, especially if you want to create a formal atmosphere

Attended a wedding yesterday hosted by Sam YG. Yes, he was funny and entertaining. But his style really isn't for me. Too many green jokes and a bit too hyper. I can't believe people pay him 50k heheh

Attended naman a wedding hosted by Ramcy Tirona. I think he's a DJ from a radio station. Diction was good, he spoke in English and Tagalog and when pumalya yung audio ng SDE he quickly was able to divert the attention of everyone else to another activity while the L&S team fixed the audio. He also didn't need to read off a script, which is a plus for me while hosting because you can look at the people around you and adjust accordingly.

A professional host would already know the ins and outs of reception hosting.

YUN LANG... people left after during the parents speeches!! It isn't the host's fault of course, pero ang sad lang makita habang nagspespeech ka, nagaalisan yung mga tao around you  :/

We got Eri Neeman for our wedding. Infairness he's lively and entertaining. Peg namin comic. We met him sa bridal fair ng Getting Married.

Sam YG is too costly as well as Ramon Bautista.

hello, booked richard agtarap, I hear good reviews about him and he sings well din..  ask ko lang kung pwede ko kaya sabihin kung anong games ang ipapagawa ng emcee? may peg kasi ako na games for my entourage kaso baka naman hindi ma-execute ng maayos since bago para sa emcee yung game na naisip ko.
