Mall Buildings Shaking But No Earthquake

Have you felt the building of SM North the Block shook while you were there?  I got so scared last night thinking it was an earthquake but the waitress said from the restaurant we were at that it was  because of the parking building at the back. It happened so many times! Gateway and Trinoma too because of the trains nearby but only near the railings or near the train area. Ugh it's so scary even if these aren't caused by earthquakes!

Based on my friend's explanation who is a structural engineer, it is normal for buildings to move because of vibrations caused by cars, trucks, vehicles. but overtime it may also cause the material to become brittle. but if the building is moving and it is far from this possible cause of vibrations, then maybe there is something wrong with the foundation. but like what you said, the north block is near the parking lot, maybe that's the cause. (sorry haven't been at sm north).

These are vibrations and are normal kasi nadidistribute ang weight carried by the structure to its different members (columns, beams and all structural elements), ganon din ang bridges. Sa house kasi hindi masyado nararamdaman pero meron din yun. But that's normal kasi if sobrang stiff ng structures and its members mag ccrack sya and will cause it to fail.
