^ako sa dollarstore lang bumibili ng gloves. For petite clothes, you can check out reitmans or gap kids. Zara is also a good option since sobrang mura nya especially sale season and free shipping if you buy more than $50.

Yeah the weather is definitely different compared sa middle east but mageenjoy kayo dito...even your kids, im sure theyll love playing in the snow

Well, to those who are new in canada, there are programs available for you, fyi...
There are programs available for internationally-trained professionals na govt-funded.
They teach newcomers about the canadian workplace, how to make resume na tailor-made sa mga jobs you want to apply for, mentorship, etc..
It takes 8-12 weeks, tapos after that may job placements, which is unpaid, pero it will work as the "canadian experience" companies are looking for.
Minsan sa mga community centers, sa mga colleges, CET, polycultural.org, etc...  inquire kayo it is called "ELT" "enhanced language training..may specific na profession-based, may general for any profession..

There is also a program here in Winnipeg and the organization that conducts the workshops is Manitoba Start. To those who will be coming here or plans to go here, it is a good program. I was on it and masaya. It will also help you interact with people with the same profession as you do. Malaking tulong sya.

Hi sisses! Not sure kung dito ko ba dapat post tong tanong ko or sa kabilang thread.. Last year kasi, nag research na ako about immigrating to Canada, plan namin this year mag IELTS na ni hubby. Kaso nung November, nalaman ko preggy ako and medyo sensitive.. So change of plans, medyo madelay kami. Tanong ko lang, kung sakali mag apply kami as immigrant, pwede ko na ba isabay mom ko, sabihin ko sana need ko sya para mag alaga ng baby ko? Nabasa ko kasi before dito rin sa GT na dapat ideclare kapag may anak ka. At yung iba, ginagawa is pinapasunod yung mom nila doon. Pwede kayang sabay namin yung mom ko para pagdating doon makapag work na rin ako? Thanks in advance.

hindi pwede sis e, kung idedeclare as dependent..pero kung i-aapply nyo as tourist, pwede siguro, tapos sabay sabay na kayong umalis

^kung tourist sis, mas mabilis, yung iba 2weeks lang may response na sa application...kung sponsorship, hmm, yun ang hindi ko sure, kung gano katagal..saka hindi ko pa din binabasa yung requirement nito e, haha

lam ko may, super visa, nasabi lang yun during seminar, kasi parang temporary ata nila, clinose yung parental sponsorship, ang pinalit yung super visa, pero sabi binalik na din daw e..

yung super visa naman, for 10yrs valid siya allowed to stay for up to 2 years in Canada per visit.

Parental sponsorship comes and goes. Minsan bubuksan tapos limited number of applications, isasara ulit then bubuksan. Kailangan mo abangan talaga if you want your parents to be with you. May supervisa, tama si sis gorgeous_me, para syang tourist visa pero 10 years valid and allowed to stay ng 2 years.

It's only end of January and parang natutunaw na ang snow dito sa Mississauga. I don't know if in other part of Canada is the same, but here parang patapos na winter. Sometimes during the week it will snow, then over the weekend, maaraw naman.
Maaraw but not necessarily hot, it doesn't add warmth, and the air is still cold. Pero parang yung time na nag-snow consistently is over, so wala nang build up.
Not that i'm complaining, i just find it unusual.
So sa mga padating pa lang, i think okay yung timing nyo.

^Snow melted abruptly too yesterday in Winnipeg as in big puddles everywhere and there is a forecast of hitting positive temperature tomorrow. Not that I like the -30s pero it just tells you something about the environment, isn't it?

I'm just curious how do you battle the coldness of winter season when at home? Kun turn on palagi heater parang ang lakas naman yata sa kuryente nun. Mahal din yata yun wood/charcoal na ginagamit sa fireplace.

Laging naka on ang heater kahit wala kami sa bahay. Malamig kasi talaga ang winter here in Winnipeg. If hindi naka on ang heater, baka magfreeze ang mga pipes. Sasabog yun. Deadma sa bayad sa kuryente. Pag summer, naka "auto pilot" ang thermostat so aircon blows once in a while. Kung hindi kasi, masyado maghuhumid ang basement at baka magka molds. Advise yan ng friend namin na engineer/house inspector.

related sa Climate Change yata mga sis. its our first winter in Ontario din and sabi nila usually umaabot nga daw ng -40 (including windchill) with up to 4ft na snow. pero ngayon mag February na, parang mild snow shower pa lang ang nangyayari. not complaining din ha pero this is not what we have expected but thankful na din at ganito lang ang winter ngayon. ang hirap lumabas ng bahay ha.

^^ are you staying in apartment or landed house? kasi kung sa apartment, usually kasama na sa rent ang heat or if not, mura lang din ang consumption (yun ang pagkakaalam ko ha). in my case, i do work from home kaya maghapon lang ako sa bahay. close lahat ng windows and balcony, and kinakaya naman ng heater (centralized ang distribution ng heat sa Ontario, tama ba?). bale walang controller dito sa unit namin kaya no choice, minsan i will wear sweater na lang. minsan naman, kahit malamig, medyo nakaopen yung balcony door. mga 5mm lang hahaha. para lang may fresh air ng konti. at saka we do the same sa bedroom window, parang may aircon na din ang pakiramdam.

^^ouch, parang ang sakit yata sa bulsa hehe. yun heater dyan sa Canada is yun aircon type (inverted) ba then may settings to select hot air. Ayun kasi yun heater na alam ko apart from portable heater and fireplace

^nope sis, I'm not in Canada. I was just curious pano ginagawa nyo to battle the winter especially when snowing when you are at home. I live din kasi sa country na may winter pero walang snow and it's hard for me to deal with it. Hindi kasi insulated mga bahay dito and pag minalas walang heater function pa yun aircon na i-rerent mo. So only remedy is to use portable heater and wear winter clothes when at home. There were times pa nga na mas malamig pa sa loob ng bahay kesa outside in the morning kasi naiiwan yun lamig sa loob ng bahay.

Mahal nga rito kuryente pag winter, sa amin umaabot ng $400+ tapos maliit lang bahay namin pero pag summer nasa $100+ lang.

Sa amin, during the winter season, we pay around approx 100/mo for gas/heating. We have a moderate sized house and the heater goes 24/7 for several months - mostly starting Oct to around April.

Electricity & water during winter is around - $80

During summer electricity & water- since naka A/C we pay around $120/mo and we pay less on gas.

Im not very good at handling cold, nade-depress ako on the onset of winter but I cant do anything about it but to suck it up. This year is mild winter due to el nino but last year and the previous year was major pain.
