Need advise! First time mom at 11 weeks
« on: September 03, 2015, 08:57:04 pm »
Hello girls!

I am 11 weeks pregnant with our rainbow baby (already had two miscarriages). As early as our 6th week, our OB has ordered me to take a leave from work and advised me to rest, bawal mapagod at bumiyahe. I have been religiously following all her advises except for one; I have not done the trans vaginal ultrasound yet. Natatakot kasi ako. During our first two pregnancies, ginawa namin yung transv pero parehas na nagstart ako magbleeding 3 days after ko magpaultrasound and yun nga, we ended up losing them. Our OB clearly stated that transv ultrasound has nothing to do with our previous losses; but I am still too afraid to do it for our third baby. [textspeak!] mga sisters and mother in law ko, and even my own mama have advised me not to do it, antayin ko na lang daw [textspeak!] ika-4th month para transabdominal ultrasound na yung gagawin. Pero torn pa rin talaga ako. I am planning to go back to work after the first tri, hindi ako makakahingi ng clearance from our OB kung di ako magpapa ultrasound. At sa kabilang banda, gusto ko na rin malaman kung ok naman ba si baby at wala naman problema. Next week, mag 3 months na kme ni baby, pwede na ba ako magpa transabdominal ultrasound by that time? thanks girls.

For many women, especially after 8 weeks gestation, sufficient information about the baby may be obtained with transabdominal ultrasound only. However, in the early pregnancy, the developing embryo is very small (at 6 weeks gestation, the baby is only 5-9mm long) and a transvaginal ultrasound may be required to get a better image of the baby. Transvaginal ultrasound is safe and commonly performed during all stages of pregnancy, including the first trimester. It will not harm you or your baby.

pero as a Mum, you will have to trust your gut feel... if you don't feel comfortable doing the transvaginal ultrasound, then don't. It's your body and no one can force you to do anything.

sabi naman sa article I pasted above, abdominal ultrasound can be done after the 8th week... you can try na siguro once you reach the 3rd month.

My OB used to do transvaginal ultrasound nung maliit pa talaga yung baby sa loob. Super alaga kasi ako nung OB ko kasi we had treatmeant to make sure on time ang ovulation, etc.

If you are scared, then don't do it. Pero I doubt transvaginal ultrasound was the reason why you had your miscarriages - miscarriages are very common lalo na sa 1st trimester.

Hope you have absolutely no problem sa pregnancy mo this time sis :) Trust na "this is it" na! :)

Sis, i don't think that is the reason for the last two miscarriages, I think nagkataon lang talaga.

It is very safe kasi hindi din irerecommend ng ob mo yun kung hindi safe. :)

Pero, at the end of the day, it is your choice and prerogative. :) Kung hindi ka comfortable, don't do it. Baka lalo ka lang mastress which is bad for you and your baby.
