Anyone with IUGR babies?

Hello mommies, anyone with IUGR babies here? How's your baby? Catching up fast? Or not growing as fast as doctors would want?

Some background:
My baby was on the smaller range on my third trimester. Pero, my baby was only diagnosed IUGR on my 39w1d kaya pinainduce na ako on my 39w4d. My OB told me that my borderline BP (140/90) shouldn't be the cause of it so he's diagnosing it as placental insufficiency.

My son was born 2.015kg and we stayed in the Special baby care unit for 5 days. We were able to go home when he was almost 2.1kg. Pinagformula siya for the first 3 days to supplement my colostrum because of hypoglycemia. We are having an awesome breastfeeding journey so far and I think he's growing well kasi nasa 400-800g a month ang nagegain niya in a month. At 6 months, he's around 5.8kg na - for WHO weight chart, lagi kami behind ng 500-600g. Doctors aren't worried pero they'd want my son to catch up faster (pero diba 2 years pa talaga sila nakakacatch up sa weight and height?).

What did your pedia recommend for your IUGR babies? Kasi yung isang pedia sa hospital (naka monitoring kasi ang anak ko sa govt hospital eh, and he has a separate private pedia), gusto sana itry yung lalagyan ng powder yung expressed breastmilk ko. My private pedia said we could try that but don't expect too much.

My son started solids last Aug 21 and he's not so happy/excited about solids hahaha! He doesn't like the bottle either...ako parin talaga ang pinakagusto niya.

Please share your experiences mommies. Thanks! :)

Hi sis, I am not that really familiar with it, basta ang alam ko lang, dapat pag 1 year old na, nasa 10kg na.. And if nagsosolid na sya, try to incorporate merienda na din.. biscuits and cooked/raw fruits

Hi @epang, just in case you aren't updated on the WHO weight chart, 12mos normal range is 7.7 - 12kg for boys. The minimum of 10kg is not until 26mos for boys.

I understand my son needs to eat more solids when he's ready but I probably won't be giving him biscuits because I'd like him to eat vegetables, fruits, rice first.

IUGR babies are those who did not grow well while in the womb. If you'd lke to be more familar with it, here's a link: http://www.babycenter.com/0_intrauterine-growth-restriction-iugr_1427406.[textspeak!]

Hello mommy luckymom7, My son is now 14 months, very active, happy and okay naman ang motor skills din. His pedia doctors are pleased with his development and are not too worried about his height and weight. I think ngayon palang siya mag-8kg. Last month nasa 7.6kg palang siya eh.

Hindi din masyado nagsaslita though he says "de" for dede, "Vrrrr" for car, "Buhbah" for "Bye Bus", "Bah" for "Bob (the builder)", "Boh" for ball pero ang galing niya mag sabi ng Banana saka Baby. He also says "ish" for his fish shapes crackers.

I think tayong 2 lang ata ang may IUGR babies sa female network or lurker lang yung iba.
