Wow, bummer. But happy to hear your pup is back to normal.

Sorry about your vet though. When my other dog got sick with heartworm and soon after with distemper, we had discussed with my vet the options we have given our financial constraints. And when the time came that euthanasia was the only option left, he charged us just the cost of the shots, which was less than 1k for a 11kg dog, no consultation fees at all and we were so thankful not only for the consideration but for the support and we never felt it was all about business.

I would suggest that you shop around (now that your pup is healthy) for another vet you could trust and feel confident in their ability (also important). Ask around friends which vet they go to or strangers. LOL. I find that usually people with dogs are approachable. They would LOVE to talk about their pet. Like one time we were at the groomers waiting, clients would come in and small talk ensued. Vet practices were discussed and we found out that the vet our pup used to go to had a reputation for having a lot of pets die in his care. This other lady takes her dog there and was alarmed at the information from another lady. My cousins and I added our stories (3 of us with dogs) about that vet as well and why we no longer use his practice. We recommended our new vet and the bigger facilities in Alabang (VIP and Animal House).

Would you mind letting us know your vet's clinic and/or name so others can avoid making the same mistake in the future?

If ever that happens to your puppy again, I suggest that you bring him to a real animal clinic, not just to a private vet in practice. My observation is most private vets charge more because they don't earn salaries unlike those who work in clinics or pet stores. If you live in Quezon City, I'd recommend Pendragon along Kalayaan Avenue. That's where I bring my pup. They have complete facilities and the vets are good. They have a drugstore but since the meds are cheaper outside, my vet suggested that I can just buy my pup's antihistamine in Mercury Drug. My pup's all good now. We went back for a follow-up check up and they didn't charge us consultation fee anymore.

I experienced that when I took our dog to a private clinic. I really felt that they were over charging everything, from the meds to get the lab test. I am never going back to that vet again. I only took my dog there because the clinic of our regular vet was already close.
Since our old vet decided to open his own clinic in the province, I decided to take my dogs to another animal clinic. because I felt that the new vets were not as competent as our old vet. I hope that they will be treated well. Right now, my dogs are under the care of Pendragon.

I suppose first thing to do is to ask the average cost in that clinic.  Vets are doctors too, when you reach my age, you will realize some things cannot be quantified?  The vet need to earn money too.  Besides being a professional, she has a business to maintain, a future to prepare for and bills to pay   Happy to hear she was able to properly diagnose your dog and that she's doing well.  At 18, she's probably assuming that your parents will shoulder the cost naman?  I'm not saying na ok lang to overcharge pero depende din siguro yan sa expertise ng doctor na pupuntahan?

In our case, we had our dog stay at their clinic for fluids and such, our dog was super lethargic... as in walang gana kumain, walang gana uminom ng tubig, red eyes at hindi makatayo.

findings nila is poisoning.

They charged me 1500php for the first 24 hours, then 700php for the succeeding days. the charge would cover medicines, fluids, supplements, the turok and karayom and bulak.

before ko iuwe yung dog ko, ni-recommend na ipatest pa ng ehrlichia, pero nahuli ko sya kasi after ilang tanong ko, sabi nya hindi na magiging effective ang ehrlichia kung napainom na ng vitamin k. eh sinabi na din nya na during our dog's confinement, binigay na lahat ng medicine na kailangan. so bakit pa nya io-ofer yung erhlichia test kung di na magiging reliable yung result.

in total, i paid them 7000php for 5 days confinement and yung medications nya na dadalhin pauwe.

is it worth? i don't know. di pa din nakakatayo yung dog ko pero nakakakain na at umiinom na din ng tubig, may head bobbing din.

Hmmm,  I'm from Laguna too. What happened to you parang same lang sakin, same pricing, maybe same Vet? Check up 350, muzzle 350, IV Fluids 750  good for 3 days,  Antibiotic 900 per shot per day,  (need 3 shots daw), oral antibiotic for 2 weeks (popy doxy only 200 online) pero I paid 650, my dog has only fever symptom, so walang appetite kumain and more than 1 week kaya putla na sya, her fever is on and off, Vet told me after few lab/tests it is either viral or bacteria daw, as of today almost P7000+na total cost but I hope makarecover ang dog (aspin) ko.

We pay Animal House  P350  for a check up.  Sorry to hear about your bad experiences. Hope all your puppies are better!

Check up fee is fine but for the meds is way too pricy, it's a ripped off ,

Yung vet ng dog ko kahit hindi kailangan gusto bilhin ko like supplements na ang mahal, nakakainis nagdadahilan na lang ako.

I'm so lucky with my vet. He doesn't strike me a as the greedy type and the assistants are also nice.

One time, I was waiting with an older lady with 2 puppies awaiting vaccinations. She said there were two other puppies left at home as she could only manage 2 at a time in a bayong by herself. She didn't want the puppies squeezed into a small space. The assistant advised her to come back with the other puppies so that they will be covered under one consultation fee.  That's 200 for 4 puppies + the cost of the vaccines. An acquaintance of mine told me PetExpress charged consultation fee per dog (she brought 3 that time).

Man's Bestfriend Veterinary Clinic. Aside sa overpriced, Halos di sila sure sa ginagawa nila. CBC test will take a day before mo makuha yung results. :/
