@120515
excited to see all of your DIYs in your wedding!
What's your theme pala?

Question:
For buntings, which is better to use? fabric or paper cutouts? This is in terms on ease of use at madaling gawin. haha!

^ depende sis sa theme mo. If rustic ka, you may get burlap then glue or sew the letters on or canvas transfer it. Pwedi din mga floral, or pastel colored fabric then glue or sew your cutouts.  Ngayon kung [textspeak!] mas maganda, parehas sis. Nagkakatalo yan sa pagkakagawa hehe. Sa ease, dun na ako sa paper cutout. hehe. Kasi you'll just print it and then hang it. hehe.  Good luck sa preps sis ;)

^ sis twinxz, i called it "sparkling rustic" when i described it to my coordinator last year...i'm praying that all the elements will all come together on the day itself  ;D

i agree with you, missus o, paper cutouts are easier...i bought blank kraft paper buntings and then wrote the letters on them myself using a white paint pen but printing them out directly would make the process even easier  ;)

@Missus O @120515
thanks sisses!! will just use paper cut outs then! :)

@120515
wow! unique theme sis ha! you have moodboard ba? I guess it will be easier for your coord to visualize if you have this. (like what sis chinadoll6 did to her wedding)

i created a moodboard for our wedding and showed it to our coord para we're on the same pace. too many ideas are being passed on to each other kasi, minsan ang gulo na haha!

hi twinxz, i don't have a moodboard...hahaha! i made (some - still currently making) all the decorations myself together with my husband (on some elements) and family. i just did mock-ups of how i want everything set up and took pictures of those so that on my wedding day, my wedding coordinator will just put them on the tables  ;D

i guess i have a very specific vision in mind of what i want to see - like how the ceiling will be decorated (string lights and tissue paper pom poms), what i wanted to be the center of attraction (the dessert buffet table with our wedding cake in the center), what i wanted in the entrance (ribbon curtain), the design of the photobooth backdrop (chalkboard with firefly jar and string light designs), etc. then from there, i worked on the design elements  ;)

however, i do agree that a moodboard would be a very helpful tool indeed to keep one focused especially with all these ideas out there in this information technology age - pinterest, wedding blogs, tumblr, etc.  :D

mahirap din pala gamitin ang spray paint, my first attempt was epic fail, hindi smooth yung pagkaka paint. I forgot yung pinaka importanteng bagay, distance, hindi dapat close contact yung pagspray. Medyo traumatic haha. kala ko kasi madali lang but anyway ok naman yung result ng sumunod ko na gawa. random rant lang  ::)

hihi! yes sis, may recommended distance si sis 120515 for spray painting. Photos of her painted jars look pretty! Ours naman was painted by my BIL so I don't have any idea. He painted our kraft letters and frames with air pressure machine kaya I think its easier.

Been to Tabora and Dapitan Arcade last weekend and we bought lots of stuff! Trivia though, I didn't find any katya bags there, only burlap bags. Good thing, the SA in Dapitan Arcade suggested we go to a shop just blocks away from there and voila! We have our 6 customized katya bags printed there. Yeeeey! :D Shop's name is Kamiseta, they don't require minimum order unlike most online shops.

Another thing, kawayan sticks (larger and longer than bbq sticks) are very hard to find in Divisoria. It just so happened that we found a "delivery boy ni ate" carrying it and so we followed him. Ayun, it was sold for 2/pc. Seller told us that there were only few supplies of kawayan sticks delivered hence it was quite hard to find. Note that we asked 4 native shops but only ate on a tolda have it.

Treasure boxes in Divisoria is way cheaper than those in Dapitan Arcade.

Noticed that there are more selections of Tea lights/Lanterns in Dapitan Arcade compared to Divisoria.

2 more visits in Divisoria and I'm done with all the shopping for my DIY.

Question: What's the best thing to use to tack a pinwheel into a kawayan stick? TIA!

as my husband says, one finished product goes through several ideation and prototyping sessions before the final output  ;D hope you're done with all your jars, sis tiffany24.

i just finished the last jars to be spray painted over the weekend. just 6 more sparkly jars to go and i will have all my 75 jars and bottles for the table settings.

^ sis twinxz, i have not made pinwheels before but have you considered decorative pushpins? there are pushpins sold in daiso here that come in various designs.

Yes sis twinxz may recommended distance na but I got too excited using it so I did it witout thinking, like an experiment eh medyo mahal pa naman ang gold spray paint as to compare with the regular color. Good you have a lot of people to help you, ako kasi feeling school project ako ngayon haha. I can't wait for our next trip to divi on Nov, I might also check out dapitan arcade this Thursday to check out wooden ornaments na balak ko i giveaway sa principal sponsors, i heard marami dun, meron nga ba sis? TIA  :)

Sis 120515, I stopped muna, I only sprayed 5 bottles and our Paper Mache Letter Standee, I had to take a break para ok na yung next batch. I guess you're almost done with your DIYS, just in time for your big day sis  :)

^ yup, almost done! my brother is also making my wooden frames back at home - he had to make three and they're all nearly done, too. they just need "feet" so they stand.

happy preps, everyone!

@tiffany24
naku sis, thanks to my BIL talaga coz he was also spray painting his motorcycle that time, so we asked him if he could also paint our letters and frames. Yeah, quite hard lalo na if its going to be your 1st time to do it. (which would be my case too if not for my BIL)

@120515
yes sis! found decorative push pins in NBS, then eraser na lang din sa back to avoid getting pricked?

For those who made wedding wands, what did you use for the stick? Been looking for wooden dowels but haven't found any yet. TIA.

I'm halfway done with one of my entourage bouquets. Lalagyan ko na lang ng studs and handle and 6 na lang tatapusin ko.
