Hi mga sis, I just saw this. Maybe this is a reminder and baka they will strictly implement it na.

http://www.mb.com.ph/cbcp-wedding-vows-are-not-allowed-to-be-recited-during-the-wedding-liturgy/

^ Yeah. Sad news. Sa reception nalang daw if ever meron. :(

Nung nagpeprepare kami for the wedding, we were told by the church that personal vows or message are allowed daw. Pero one week before ng wedding namin, kinonfirm namin to sa church and hindi na daw pwede :/ Medyo sad kasi akala ko papayagan talaga kami and i know someone who got married in the same church na pinayagan sila. Pero yun nga hindi kami pinayagan. We just let it go, since wala naman kaming magagawa. Hindi din namin option yung sa reception.

I thought our wedding will be incomplete without our custom vow/message to each other. Pero everything changed while we were actually saying the standard vows. Grabe iyak namin ni husband while reciting them. Iba pa din pala talaga ang feeling ng sinasabi mo yun especially our mass was in tagalog. What's in  the vow were the very words I wanted to promise my husband. That moment I realized na kahit anong personal message ko for him, it still boils down to sticking with him no matter what. Kaya even if wala kaming personal vow/message, I still felt that the vows from the church were very personal, kasi it was my husband's promise to me.

I do believe that the vows provided by the Liturgy and the Sacrament of Marriage are beautiful. However, I wish that the Church will put more emphasis on its importance. Reminding couples during canonical interviews and/or pre-marriage seminars about the sacred vows and its meaning will definitely help. Couples opt for personal vows because they feel super cliche and standard na ang sacred vows provided by the Church. If the Church can do something about this, to shift the notion of couples that are getting married, then better.

I personally like listening to personal vows because they move me, but if the Church prohibits this na, then we have to adhere. Couples should start thoroughly checking the Sacrament of Matrimony and put it by heart.   :)

Sad. Even before lumabas yung issue sa personal vows. Walang paliguy ligoy.

^^^sis simang, gusto talaga namin ni h2b ng may personal messages sa ceremony, but since bawal na now, we're still happy kasi we chose a tagalog version ng mass. Preferred talaga namin ang tagalog ever since.

^^I couldn't agree more sis juwie. That's the right thing to do.

^sis stylus, thanks for that idea! Ang galing nyo! Parang sa Dong-Yan ba? Ganyan kasi yung sa SDE nila eh, may voice over. I just don't know if voice over lang to be used sa SDE or voice over with instrumental sound during procession sa church during their wedding. Since Cardinal ang nag kasal sa kanila at madaming priest, for sure they did not allow them to have their personal messages kahit pa celeb sila.

^stylus, that is a wise idea. :) videographers can definitely add a voice over to your sde and make it appear as if you were saying your vows pa rin. :) at least may option na for couples.

Same here juwie, the personal marriage vows are the ones I wait for and listen to when i watch SDEs.

i have this very rare health condition kasi na pag pagod nako, affected yung facial muscles. So nahihirapan ako magsalita at kumain pag tired na.

And for that.. ma-search nga! Hehe.

^yep sis, may voice over ng personal messages nila sa isat-isa. Then the videog just used instrumental background music para hindi ma overlap yun messages.

I watched some IG videos nung mga nag uupload na press last year sa kasal nila. As far as i remembered kasi one of the clip there was habang pa open yung door, then sa bridal march ni Marian parang may voice over sya then parang soft instrumental music lang ang background. Kaya napaisip ako if pinatong lang sa SDE nila yung voice over na personal messages nila or if they recorded it and played it during the march.

You can watch the video of Mayad sis.

They explained this in pre cana na non-catholic talaga yung personal vows. It's just that some parish priests were more lenient in deploying the rite of marriage that's why it was allowed.

In our church, strict sila and we had no problem with it naman. One less thing to think about ;D And we're also private people hehe so we're more comfortable telling each other directly our "personal vows".

^ sis stylus, you can definitely request your videographer to record your messages for each other and include these in your sde. our videographer used our messages for each other as voice-overs in parts of the clip like the introduction and in the middle part of our sde. it was during our reading that i cried really hard and my poor hmua had to retouch my cheeks afterwards.

they gave us these tiny microphones so our voices would be super clear and i hid mine in my bodice! hahaha!

But it's still a good step to check with your Parish/officiating priest.

Oh my, i read a news article on this right after our wedding!! Totoo pala? Fr. Orbos allowed us time to say ours last Dec 30 pa. Nagulat pa nga ako na it was so soon into the ceremony and not at the very end. Shucks, sayang naman if bawal na :(

This was actually good news to me. I'm a bit of an introvert although not shy to say I'm eloquent when drunk. Plus, I'm too emotional. So for sure major huhubels if I do personal vows as my fiancĂ© wanted. Also, kasi inunahan na ko ibrainwash ng sister ko that the vows are sacred & complete. Add to that parang turn off yung "vows" (or maybe yun na yung message part) napapanuod sa videos that goes "Magka-office mate/schoolmate/blockmate kasi kami. Actually, hindi pa nga kami nagpapansinan nuon."  But that's just me..
