Birthday for a Cause

Hi everyone. My son is just 4 months old. He will turn one in Marc 06 next year. He's a Muslim. So his dad is not really into a big celebration kinda thing. And I'm not a fan of big birthday parties either. Back in the province, everytime I celebrate my birthday, I do a feeding program in rural areas. I'm thinking of doing the same here. I've actually googled some orphanages around the metro but since they do not allow pictures to be taken with the kids and inside the bahay ampunan itself, I wonder if anybody of you have done this before and if you have any suggestions which place is safe for a 1 year old kid. I say safe because my husband isn't really into the idea knowing our son is just a year old and he may contract whatever, which I've thought about already. He told me we can do it maybe when he gets a little older and his body shield is up on high. But just in case it'll push through, I want to solicit inputs from anyone. Thank you.

Following. I like the idea of a birthday for a cause when my daughter turns 2 this May. I've yet to start planning but it would be nice to spend the day with other children and be able to give back.

I love charity events Please try going to Bahay Aruga near PGH, its a halfway house for pediatric patients with Cancer. You can also try Grace to be Born shelter, they adopt babies and pregnant mothers. There's also the Karinderia ni Mang Urot, he regularly feed people in the street.. you can sponsor a dinner or something. I have a long list of venues for a birthday for a cause.
