How to know if a branded bag is authentic?

Hi! My aunt gave me a ralph lauren and versace bag from london..pinapabenta niya sa akin, so i wanted to know kung authentic to or hindi..marami na rin kasing replica na bags ngayon eh..

what bags are they?

research. look at the straps, the logos, the stitches. fake bag makers ignore the smallest details. its as little as a fold here, a pleat there, or the shape of a hardware you can't even see.

if its leather, smell it -- it should smell like leather.

also, they don't come in cheap plastic bags. RL carefully wraps them up in tissue paper or puts their items in boxes. if its a cheap flimsy plastic, its fake.

if you do find out that it is, please don't sell it as the real one. i feel bad when i see people get duped into buying these things.

Usually you can tell based on the way the bag looks.  When I picked up my supposed purchase from cashcashpinoy, you can see by the look of the bag that they are fake.  Leather should smell like leather. And I agree that packaging should also look right.

Designer bags should come with certificate of authenticity, if I'm not mistaken...

^ not always. If you buy from the store, the receipt could be the proof of authenticity.

Unless you're really familiar with the bag, it will be hard to tell. There are after superfakes nowadays.

Best is to compare two bags side by side, hardware is key, font, tags, etc.

i was in greenhills just recently.  i saw a bag (not sure if that was Hermes) nakapatong pa sa estante.  and they're selling it for P15k    wow that much for a fake bag!

^^ I know right, why bother buying Hermes if it's fake. I can see so many Chanel replicas na super obvious talaga. The idea is to be proud of what you're carrying, how can you, if it's fake. Better buy Michael Kors or Kate spade nlng.

yes i agree very much. never buy fake bags! you will never ever be confident in wearing it. fake na nga expensive pa. just buy a lesser expensive bag na original and durable pa. for me kasi i want to buy a designer bag not just for its brand & design or masabi lang na may designer bag ka. This designer bags are designed to last a long long time and you also pay for its sturdiness and durability kasi pure leather. you can even pass it down to your kids. you wont be able to do this with fake bags
