^^ yup, nag-driving school ako ng April, 5 sessions na tig-2hrs. Sa last session, own car ginamit namin, pumayag naman ang instructor, para masanay ako sa pedals ng car namin.
Got my non-pro ng May. First few drives ko e kasama si hubby, nasa passenger side sya. Nagko-comment sya at nagbibigay ng tips (na minsan nainis ako, haha).
When hubby left for a 2-week trip, ayun no choice but to drive on my own. Tapos sinundo ko na din sya sa airport ng ako lang mag-isa when he got back.
When i drive alone, i put my handbag sa floor sa may passenger seat. Para hindi kita agad (at maging temptation) pag may sumilip pag nakatigil sa traffic. And i make sure na lagi naka-lock ang pinto, mula pagsakay hanggang sa makarating ng destination. Before leaving, make a quick check sa paligid ng car. pagsakay, lock doors, adjust mirrors, check fuel, etc. Bilin din ni hubby na if may nambato ng windshield sa may tunnels/underpass, wag mag-stop. Look for nearest gas station, park there and dun i-check ang damage. Pag nakatigil sa traffic, don't open windows ng basta-basta. If you must, small lang, yung hindi kasya kamay ng tao from outside.
Re accidents, minsan talaga kahit gaano tayo kaingat, me mga g**o pa din sa daan. So follow traffic rules and be observant sa paligid while on the road. Keep a safe distance from the car in front of you, and avoid sudden abrupt brakes, para yung nasa likod mo e aware din esp if medyo dikit sya sa yo. Wag magpa-pressure sa mga kaskasero at nagmamadali sa daan (lalo yung atat na atat sa pagbusina). As long as you are within reasonable speed limit (not too slow naman as to disrupt traffic flow), hayaan mo na, padaanin mo na yung mga nagmamadali. Don't hog lanes.
And if i know na mapapadaan ako sa tollgate, i make sure my wallet or money (or e-pass) is within easy reach (either nasa passenger seat sa tabi ko, or sa lagayan ng coins/bottles sa may kambyo).
