Change of status for remarriage purposes

I already posted this on the Married Life section, pero baka mas okay rin ipost dito.

I'm a widow already but my bf and I are planning to get married next year. Ask ko lang if I need to change my civil status to widow ba para payagan kami magpakasal or do I just have to show the death certificate of my previous spouse to the church/government agencies. I got confused kasi when I saw the SSS form, which showed an option to change the civil status from married to re-married. So I was thinking na maybe I can update my status once I get married again.

Enlighten me please. Hehe. Thanks!
