Hi mga sis, my parents are attending a seminar at Centara Grand Bangkok Convention Center at CentralWorld. Any recommendations for a cheap hotel/inn na walking distance lang sa venue? TIA

Sis dun sa may tapat ng Platinum mall / Amari Watergate area in Pratunam maraming small hotels/inns na mura lang. Soi 15 to Soi 16 Petchaburi Road Pratunam yung areas na sinasabi ko. Di naman kalayuan, nilalakad namin yan before pag pupunta kami ng Central World. Try to google maps nalang

^ yes but always be ready for rain. Bring an umbrella and always make a backup plan in your itinerary in case it rains

What we did before is buy dollars in the bank then exchange it to baht sa Bangkok.. I'm not sure which bank sells baht pero mas madali ang USD.

you can just purchase baht here at mb aguirre in alabang. if not, you can just exchange peso to baht in bangkok at super rich. mas mura lumabas in my experience kahit sa hotel nako nagpapalit. if dollar kasi to baht, twice ka mag convert at selling rate: peso to dollar, dollar to baht

If you have USD on hand mas better ang exchange but kung magpapalit ka pa ng peso to USD then to THB sayang kasi you lose a bit in the double exchange. Do a direct exchange PHP to THB na when you get to BKK.

For extra convenience there are 5 to 6 money exchange stalls at the basement level where you catch the train to the city. If you will be exchanging a lot, check the rates of all the stalls kasi iba-iba rates nila. But if konti lang exchange mo say mga 10K below no need to compare.

I'll be in Bangkok next week also!     Re clothing, it's not really required for tourists to wear dark/mourning colored clothing. Parang sign of respect na lang not to wear bright/happy colors while the country is still in mourning since wala pang one year yung passing ng king nila. I plan to bring light-colored clothes.

Will be in BKK Feb. 2-5 for my daughter's 7th birthday. Staying in Juldis Mansion/Tower in Pratunam (condo, Pinoy owner) for 900 baht a night (yan lang keri ng budget for lodging, hehe). Arriving in BKK Feb. 2 Tursday, 930am, leaving BKK Feb. 5, Sunday 930am

May marerecommend ba kayong travel agency na nag offer ng decent package? Gusto ko kasi sana iyong may flight, accomodation at itinerary na.

Pwede din ba iyong flight at accomodation muna tapos pag nasa bangkok ka na, meron tour guide na gagawa ng itinerary nyo? Ganun nangyari sa amin sa hong kong. Sana pwede din sa Bangkok.

Mga bes -- malulurki na ako sa kaka-revise ng IT namin. Dami ko kasi gusto gawin at puntahan in 3 measly days.

Questions:
1) Worth it pa bang mag Chatuchak weekend market kung nag Pratunam market na?
2) Worth it bang puntahan ang Chinatown?
3) Ok ba mag BTS/MRT from Pratunam (Phetchaburi Road) to Terminal 21 and Khao San? Kahit hindi direct (lakad konti from station)? Or mag cab na lang? May mga feedback kasi na mej marunong ma rin mang-goyo mga cabbies sa BKK ngayon eh
4) First time to travel w/o check-in luggage. Pwede ba sa carry-on ang hair dryer?
5) Sino na ang naka-try ng buffet dinner sa Baiyoke Sky? Sulit ba?
6) Nakakapagod ba masyado ang Safari World? May energy pa kaya kami mag libot after? O may "energy gap" na? Drink Milo everydaaay)
7) Mas ok ba dito magpapalit to baht o dun na?
There's a sim card daw na good for 7 days Internet access na. No need to "load" that? Consumable siya? Can it also be used for texts and calls?

^sis why do you have to bring a hair dryer? Wala bang hair dryer sa place na pag stay-an mo?

If it's your first time in BKK, maganda pa rin puntahan ang Chatuchak. Pero kung shopping lang balak mo mas mura sa Pratunam. Though you might not find some of the novelty items na binebenta sa JJ.

BTS/MRT pa rin kung sa central BKK kasi sobra traffic aabutin ka ng syam-syam.

Check mo website ng AIS, DTAC and TRUEmove. They offer mga tourist sim cards. Iba-ibang package yung offer nila. Pinakamabilis ang internet is Truemove kung BKK ka lang. Yup pwede sa text/call din.

^Not sure if there will be a hair dryer 'cause it's not a hotel; it's a Pinoy-owned condo unit. Anyway, I can live without a hair dryer naman for 3 days, hehe.

It's actually my third time in BKK but first time with the family (hubby and 7-year old daughter) and first time to make an itinerary. The first time I went, I went to all the "touristy" places already (including all the temples, palaces, floating markets, malls, etc etc) and I was with friends who knew their way around, so...sumunod lang ako, haha. First time to DIY in BKK next week kaya medyo confused.

1) Yes! In Chatu, you will find much more than clothes. Madami rin household items, pet stuff, antiques, shoes etc. Very accessible naman siya by BTS or MRT. You can also visit Or Tor Kor farmers' market after!

2) Depends. Chinatown is a good place to eat, buy jewelry etc. We went there very quickly lang though, carry na to spend a few hours.

3) Ok yan! No bad experience naman riding cabs in Bangkok so far. Avoid tuktuks though, sila ang malakas mang rip off ng tourists. When riding cabs, better if sabihin mo yung destination mo in Thai. Or print a map!

4) Not sure about this one!
5) Have not been to Baiyoke, sorry!
6) Pass din sa Safari World.

7) We usually bring USD then dun na kami papalit ng THB

Yes. We usually use AIS. They have a booth right at the arrivals area in the airport. No need to load as long as di ka naman ma call or text. I usually just use it for data. Yes it can be used for local and international texts and calls.
