Saw this article about the link between autism and vaccines. Maybe we should start looking for other options. Will ask our pedia about giving vaccines one at a time instead of those 3 in 1 or 5 in 1.

We actually discussed this when I was in college pa. Also it's not just autism.  This news and study is not new. The new hybrid vaccines are kind of scary because they can cause daw long term unsuspected damage to users. There was also this show in History or somewhere in the cable channels, i completely forgot what it is, ages ago about hollywood couples or celebrities whi are opting not to do the new vaccines, just the ones that are specifically made for like (flu,measles, etc.) apparently the new hybrid vaccines like (3 in 1/ 5 in 1, etc.)  are somewhat dangerous. The way the show explained it's like the person who had the vaccine will develop immunity for unmentionable diseases or sickness but will be succeptible to other bacteria, or something like that. Vaccines before, like way way way years ago are much more safer than the newly developed ones.

I got curious and asked my mom what shots or vaccines I got when I was born in 1990. She then pull oit my baby book full of doctors notes and records of visits and turned out I only got Flu Vaccine and Measle Vaccine. There was no "X in 1" vaccines before. And same with my sisters who were born at 1995 & 1996. There wasnt really a time YET of our lives where we got seriously sick. Never had measles too, our shots are not even updated, no dengues. Just asthma and nasal allergy which is hereditary from my mom's side.

I hope there will be new study with regard to this.

Im planning to consult our OB as soon as possible. Luckily i saw the article. (Baby will have his first 5 in 1 vaccine a few weeks from now). The court cases are fairly recent and its from several european countries as well. As a first time parent it makes you paranoid specially since ive met several folks with autistic children.

Whoa scary nga. Nakakinis naman sa daming ng issue,  hopefully yung mgaing pedia ng baby ko maging ka-vibes ko para open ako sa kanya about this without being too suspecting.

I've heard about this from my mother-in-law. Nakakatakot nga. Ano kaya yung mga vaccines na kailangan na kailangan talaga? Sana nagbibigay pa rin sila ng mga pa-isa isa.

Nabanggit na din sakin yan before I gave birth, na wag nga daw ako agad maniniwala sa pedia re vaccine. One of the reason we changed our pedia kasi yung nilipatan namin naging pedia na ni youngest SIL (15 y/o) and hubby's two nieces (3 and 10 y/o) so we thought hindi pa siya gumagamit ng hybrid vaccines kaso gumagamit na din siya. So we guess wala na sa market yung mga dati. Kasi tinanong ko din si pedia sabi niya hybrid na daw ang uso. So far wala naman akong nakikitang kakaiba kay lo, masigla at nagrerespond naman siya.

I think meron pa din vaccines na paisa-isa. You can actually get your own vaccines sa drugstore or look for a supplier and have your pedia do the shot. the hard part is looking for a pedia that will support your decision not to opt for certain vaccines. Minsan kasi the reason why they push for that is to make sales.

i asked my pedia about autism being related to vaccines particularly MMR. Sabi niya yung time kasi na MMR is given to toddlers, yun din yung time na ma oobserve mo talaga kung delayed na yung baby. So akala nila cause ng vaccine yun. Wala naman tubo yung pedia ko sa vaccine niya so i trust her with her answer na hindi lang siya ng pupush ng vaccine para kumita.

One sis here is right. This isn't new. And I agree that it's really best to consult with your pedia about your concerns, but study after study has found no direct link between vaccines and autism. Highly credible organizations like the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization have consistently debunked the claim that vaccines can cause autism.

I just got in touch with a pedia who's sister with my friend and asked her about it. She said that the "x in 1" vaccines are not really required. They are more of a choce from parent. Dor her she only insist on getting the gov required once as these are specific vaccines. Some pedias just make it sound "needed" because these vaccines are new, and expensive.

Ang alam ko din is there's no link. This has been widely discredited na. It just won't die because there are a lot of people, who refuse to listen to reason. I just hope na hindi sumikat ang Anti-Vaccination movement sa Pinas, like it did in the US. I now fear being around kids, sometimes especially after what happened in Disneyland. It bothers me that some parents would rather risk exposing their children and other people for that matter, to fatal diseases than deal with the practically nonexistent link between vaccines and autism.

And given how much we love our kids, whatever the pedia suggests, we will go for it.  So far my baby is very healthy even after long travels so far hindi naman nahahawa.

My personal belief is, kung may risk man ang vaccinations, the benefits still very much outweigh those risks. So it is our (my husband and I) decision as parents to make sure na complete ang vaccinations ni baby, especially sa first 2 years..

In this regard, it is important to work closely with baby's pedia. And if hindi kayo kampante sa pedia, then change doctors and look for one na magiging open at kampante kayo as parents. If you have doubts on certain vaccinations, ask questions. I'm sure a self-respecting pedia will not force parents kung ayaw. He/she can explain risks and benefits so parents can make informed decisions.

Just want to share my experience, ako isang bakuna lang ang nakuha noong baby ako. BCG if I'm not mistaken. Sobrang hirap nitong tumanda ako at kung saan nagpupunta. Halos lahat yata ng sakit na pwede ko masagap esp nung time na commute ako araw araw nasagap ko na. Imagine, twice ako nagka measles. First time toddler ako, ang tagal kong naconfine sa hospital sabi ng nanay ko. Second time adult na ako, pakiramdam ko noon ito na end ko. Nung nanganak ako di ko naramdaman yung ganun ha so tingin ko severe talaga nangyari. Dami ko pa naging sakit, sobrang haba if ilista ko dito. Right now I am trying to catch up sa bakuna with my kids. So if ever you have doubts, think long and hard bago kayo magdecide na hindi pabakunahan ang mga anak nyo. Best to find a pedia na pagkakatiwalaan nyo.

I strongly recommend joing Gentle Birth Ph who are composed of professional doula, obs and midwifes and members who have shared their pn hand personal experiences about vaccines and shots. the topic being discussed right now is how effective and advisable single shots are rather than getting the "x-in-1" shots  - because the problem with this is that there are certain age before a child gets to have that kind of shot since the "x-in-1"s are composed of different immunization. It's also just a matter of prolonging such vaccine and waiting for the child's proper age before getting it - which often than not are not being cared for by some pedias. Being knowledgeable as a parent is our responsibility and not your pedia.

I agree that it is completely okay to get the pedia's recommended shots and vaccines as long as the parent are informed and knowledgeable what they are, what is not okay is that the parents are not researching about what these vaccines are. Just because "the pedia said so" and "because they are the expert" as an excuse so you are getting the vaccine/shot is not responsible parenting. I find i really stupid and childish action. Let's not treat this as a social responsibility but rather a personal and family decision.

^ except when personal decisions have dire consequences to society. ok lang if diseases go, ok, this kid didn't get vaccinated. let's just set up camp here & his parents. eh hindi.

the way i see it, single, hybrid-- whatever. i don't care as long as children get vaccinated. like what bagaholic_chewy said, the benefits far outweigh the risks. autism is not a death sentence but meningitis, pneumonia, etc. can be.

and if people prefer to listen to doctors and scientists who have the necessary background & experience & have done studies to make this judgment that again, for the nth time, vaccines are ok-- i wouldn't call that childish or stupid. i'd call that saving time by being you know, sensible.

Like what I said in my earlier post, find a pedia that you can trust. Hindi childish iyon. Recently, may mga matagal nang wala na sakit sa isang country na bigla susulpot uli dahil sa mga personal decision na yan. Let's try to be responsible para doon man lang sa mga taong truly hindi pwede makakuha pa ng vaccine (those who have illness/allergies and those na too young pa to take vaccines).

I know before they said that walang link ang vaccine sa autism. And im a firm believer in that....but what troubles me is that this decision is fairly recent. And i know of one vaccine by GSK that has a component that is harmful. As a parent id rather be safe than sorry. If you have seen an austistic child ang hirap for the parents, not because of the tantrums but you will not be able to bond with your child EVER. Wifey had a friend who recently found out autistic child nila...its so hard to watch them deal with it. Just to be on the safe side ill have our baby injected individual vaccines. You cant take back autism. I think its a personal choice as a parent. I believe there are options naman. I still belive in vaccines but i just dont trust the new ones and ill be damned if i take the doctors advice blindly. What is scary kasi IF there is no link talaga why are there several studies being undertaken? Virtually all articles ive read ang bottom line is they are not sure or they cant totally rule out. But one think is for sure, vaccines in some cases cause encepalopathy or brain damage.

buti nalang pala I never got those types of vaccines..laging individual. for one thing, I couldn't afford it that time when I just gave birth..and until now namamahalan ako so I always opt to individual shots pag nagkakabudget ako. thanks for sharing this bro..
