Travel with your kid with different surname
« on: June 03, 2015, 08:53:02 am »
Hi! My son and I are planning to have a vacation, one in HK (no need of visa) and in AU (needs visa). My son and I have a different surname: he uses his biological dad's surname na nag AWOL na sa pagiging dad niya and ako naman surname ko sa new husband ko. Is it possible to gain entry and ano ba ang kailangan namin ipakita? Anyone who had this situation?

By the way, his dad and I are not in good terms.

Sis ok lang to. Just bring supporting docs na he's your son - birth cert, marriage cert, etc.

I have a friend na iba naman surname ng mom, tapos yung dad and kids pare-pareho. Just be sure to bring documents that will prove your relationship.

If in doubt, you can contact DSWD. Meron sa kanila na in charge of minors travelling without any parent. You may ask what docs you need to show to immigration.

I traveled with my daughter (she's taken on her Dad's surname) when she was 5 months old to Manila. Walang problema, di kami sinita. Pero I did bring her birth certificate with me saka our marriage certificate na rin. Di naman hiningi ng immigration.

Sis sa Australian Visa, did you provide a consent from his dad? Sorry daming tanong. Yung Australia kasi target namin.

^we didn't get a visa kasi we're Australian citizens. We went to the Philippines for a holiday lang. I didn't provide any consent forms. Ang tanging dinala ko lang talaga is marriage cert and my daughter's birth cert.

Subscribing to this thread. I just got married and I'm planning not to change my surname. We don't have any kids yet, but I am anticipating and considering future issues like this. So once you bring with you 1) marriage certificate and 2) birth certificate, okay na? How about in other countries? Will it be super dyahe or problematic for us? Thank you.

My daughter and I have different surname.

When I took her to be with me during summer vacation, we did not encounter any problems sa immigration ng pinas and singapore.
Nagtanong both immigration (Pinas and SG) ka-ano-ano ko sya.
That's it.

This is so timely. My first born is also using her dad's surname nagawol na din sa obligation though they still talk hindi ko na mapigil because of social networking eh. My daughter is 10yo na kasi so marunong na din. Anyway just last night my husband's side is planning to go on a US trip next year. With every trip lage naman nila kasama daughter ko kaso this time need ng visa and eversince I got married in 2013 plano na iadopt ng husband ko kaso ayaw makipagcoorperate nitong biological dad. So now in case matutuloy kame kailangan ko pa ba ng consent nya?

caleeice: I think walang magiging problema sa inyo sis. :) Kahit countries requiring visas okay lang.

Obachan: we have the same situation thats why I created this thread. If I may ask, did you re-marry? I was married and got annulled and re-married. I think walang magiging problema pero kasi ang destination namin is Australia w/c requires visa.

LGV: same situation tayo sis kaso ang magkaiba lang is wala na talaga kaming contact sa bio dad ng son ko. Ang alam ko kasi pag may visa, they require consent from the bio dad eh. Kaya pahirapan :(

From the posts here, it looks like wala namang magiging problem na magkaiba kami ng surname ng baby ko as long as may valid supporting documents, no?

I'm a single mom and surname ng father ni baby ang gamit nya.  I'm planning a trip abroad with my baby and parents early next year.  Mag-a-apply pa lang sya ng passport this year :)

Any single moms there with a recent experience travelling abroad with their kids na surname ng father ang gamit?

TIA! :)

Up! :)

After reading BOI and DSWD websites, tama ba ang intindi ko sisses:

1.  My baby (illegitimate child, using her father's surname), can travel abroad even without DSWD Travel Clearance as long as kasama ako (biological mom)

2. My nephew (illegitimate child, using his father's surname) can travel abroad with his father as long as may Travel Clearance from DSWD.

If illegitimate, subject to a Local Civil Registrar-issued Certificate of No Marriage.

Pero ang required naman sa DSWD is

*Issuing office of CENOMAR is the National Statistics Office not the Local Civil
Registrar

^Yup i'm planning to bring his birthcertificate. First time namin siya isasama for trip abroad, 3 kaming magkakasama (my kid, bf and me) pero iba-iba ang last names namin.

We've been to Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, at sa mga time na yun wala naman akong naencounter na problem. Never akong kumuha ng DSWD clearance. Based on my experince, paiba iba yung mga IO.

Nag-apply na ko for Solo Parent ID, hopefully makuha ko before this month ends, i'm planning to bring his Birthcertificate din talaga kasi andun nakalagay yung relation ko sa  bata and siguro magrequest ako ng form 137 na din from the school.
