Just wanted to ask, for those who have already inquired, would anybody be able to quote how much is a bottle of white/red wine in Manila? Just an approximation even if by bulk. My hubby and I and most of our friends are not hard drinkers, but we do enjoy our wine. We were thinking of sending the 5L boxed wines home. But if its cheaper to buy bottles of wine in Manila,  then  we may as well resort to that, instead of paying for shipping fee and put other things in our balikbayan boxes.

^hi sis dolphin, can't comment much on other types of liquor but as for wines, for white wine my go to would always be Pinot Grigio from Italy or Argentina. There are some cheaper ones from Australia and California but I find them a tad bitter. Although I have to warn you, if you are not a fan of dry whites then this is not the wine for you. A good bottle of Sauvignon Blanc is also nice. For reds, I prefer Merlot or Shiraz. The ordinary red of Campo Viejo is also good. I don't normally drink  red, but I found it particularly good, no need for food. Of course Rose' is also a safe choice If you want sparkling, a bottle (or 2 😄😄)of Proseco is also a great choice.

I  am no wine connoisseur, these are just my preferred choices. It would be better if you'll have some wine tasting and pairing. That way you can check how well they can enhance your food. happy preps 😊😊

Dophine, it really depends on your crowd. You should serve what you think they would enjoy For our guests who were mostly professionals, we served cognac (brandy), scotch (whisky) and beer (especially because wedding fell on a weekday). We also had some wine, pero save for the ceremonial toast, parang hindi ata masyadong nainom! Hehe.

for white i think sauvignon blanc is a safe choice and merlot and tempranillo (spanish) for red. Not a big fan of shiraz unless you like the full-bodied red wine. As for hard liqour whiskey will be on our list. We'll probably have rum and amaretto also and some beers. as for prices of wines the ones i liked that i didn't want to splurge to much on costs around 350-800 either in groceries or in restaurants. prices might be cheaper if you get directly from the supplier.

Hi sis! My dad and h2b love to drink double black, blue label and glenfiddich. We'll be serving those (aside from san mig beer and cocktail drinks from our mobile bar) on our wedding.

When we bought our wedding rings sa Mayfair along Ongpin, may nakita kaming imported liquor store dun na mura. We'll compare pa with SnR sis if san kami mas makakamura. ☺️

That's all we'll be serving sis. As for rum, our mobile bar has a selection of rum-based cocktails na.

@rowan: glenfiddich 12 is good.  If you want to serve something nicer at your presidential table, you could get glenfiddich 18

We are not serving spirits, only wine and beer.

^the last time I bought, glenfiddich 12 was about 1700, and the 18 was 3700. They should have them in SNR but it might be cheaper in other stores. I think either would be good for your ninongs/head table. Just depends on your budget.  For regular guests, i think black label should be good enough, if you want to serve whisky.

For ninangs, wine should be okay, i think.  I know a supplier who imports Italian wines that are good but affordable. If you're interested just PM me.

^ Kasi I can get boxed wine at P350 for 4L. If I want bottled naman, I can get it for P200 a bottle.

Ok just checked with BOC, alcoholic drinks are not allowed.

^Sis actually we haven't tried it yet. I'm planning to buy one for xmas para matikman namin. It's called House Wine, pinkish yung color niya. It's actually the cheapest I saw in M&S.
