Hi girls! Any of you know where i can get the most affordable rates for this? We're planning to have wine mostly and champagne but might also have to add a few hard drinks and beers for the after party.. where is the best place to buy?

Hi sis, you can try cash and carry and/or unimart, a lot of people i asked said alcohol was cheap there, even cheaper daw than s&r. I never got to check firsthand if they really were the cheapest because when I was supposed to buy the alcohol na for my wedding last march, one of my ninangs volunteered to provide all the wine and hard liquor.

There's a store sa may kanto lang ng pa-Tabora Market selling puro alcohol. Medyo mura sya especially if maramihan ang bili (1box of wine has 12 bottles, 1box of Johnny Walker has 9 bottles yata). Their helper can help naman magdala ng boxes sa parking.

Hi sparklingjewel, if you're mostly planning to serve wine you might want to try going through a wine wholesaler -- most of them will give substantial discounts for a bulk purchase. Sommelier Selection is good (they used to sell mostly French wine but they have a pretty well-rounded European selection now), or you can try Philippine Wine Merchants. If you go through the latter, I suggest looking into Yalumba -- it's an Australian winery and their Y series bottles are some of the best I've ever tried at that price point; really solid value for money

hi sparklingjewel, tama si sevenstars check Philippine Wine Merchants. I think they distribute most of the important wines here do you get the best deal from them. They're located in Aurora blvd (Tramo) in Pasay. I think there's also a branch of La Vie Parisienne in Timog Area that has cheap good quality sparkling wines. If there's a particular wine that you like, try to check who is the distributor and contact them directly.

sparklingjewel: If you have some particular wine brands in mind, you can try contacting the local distributor directly so that you get a wholesale price =) As for hard liquor, I plan to just buy in s&r or cash and carry or duty free.

Wow, thanks for sharing! I was initially just thinking of buying bottles at S&R. How much wine do you think I should allocate per table if we're planning to offer it mostly just for the toast and if anyone wants to chill out after the wedding?

reese17: I think 1 bottle of wine per 10pax table is very safe for toasting purposes. Then try to estimate how much will be consumed for chilling out =)

 In my case for 200 pax I am initially estimating 40 bottles of wine. (2 bottles per table) And 40 bottles of hard liquor: 18 bottles whisky, 18 bottles vodka, 3 bottles Patron Tequilla. Im not sure though I have a feeling Ill have to add more wine =( =(

Thanks Chili are your guests heavy drinkers ba? My fiance also wants us to serve hard drinks but Enderun will charge us corkage kasi. Only the wines are waived.

hi reese17: hehe I dont think many of our guests are heavy drinkers. But H2B are kinda heavy drinkers ourselves when we do go out. and some of our friends there. But we both want free flowing liquor from cocktails, till after party. However, I am not sure I might add wine and lessen the hard liquor.

One of the reasons why we didn't heave a hotel reception is because corkage alone is about 1800 per bottle and each beer and soda ordered will be about 230 php in a hotel. we have many beer drinkers. HAHA Manila Polo Club is about 100 pesos per soda/beer and has a bit more manageable corkage rates. However, there is corkage for both wine and hard liquor.

Oh my, since Enderun doesnt charge corkage for wine I suggest you take advantage of that! Youre so lucky!!  =) =)

TIP: My coordinator mentioned it to me, that if we want, we can opt to mark the bottles we are bringing in. At the end kasi all both empty and unopened bottles will have to be returned to me. Honestly, there is really no way to track the alcohol consumption as very dishonest caterers can even open your unused bottles and transfer its contents to empty bottles of theirs, even if you mark your bottles. That's why I want to really make sure I have an accurate forecast of what will be consumed.

Another thing to consider, is that for every hard liquor bottle your bring in, guests will order mixers for it such as soda. And you will have to pay for that too. So honestly lots of wine is the best solution too cut down alcohol costs.

Thanks for the tips! We will definitely mark our wine bottles plus my OTD coordinator specifically stated in the contract that her team will make sure that unopened and leftover bottles (as well as food!!!) will be turned over to my family afterwards. I think we will stick to serving wine and scrap the hard liquor idea. I can always say that it's a Sunday night reception and I don't want our guests to nurse a hangover when they report to work the next day. Lol!

We've allotted a huge amount of our budget for alcohol alone. Haha! My fiance and I and majority of our guests are drinkers talaga and we have an after-party that a lot of our guests are looking forward to.

As for the beers we're planning to buy directly from distributors. They deliver on your location naman we tried it before na. As for liquors/hard drinks we have a friend who works for a liquor company that has a tie up liquor store in Makati and they give 10-20% off on all their bottles if you work for that certain liquor company, so we're planning to source them there unless we find another deal that is better.

For beers, we ordered SMB kegs. Mas manageable for us dahil malamig na yun, we didnt need additional ice anymore. we had 2kegs (i think 1keg = ca.7 cases)

We also had hard. Binili namin sa SNR. Para syang poor man's Jack. Hehe.

Thanks for all the help, girls! Finally talked to the fiance on this and he wants to stay with just red and white wine, and once we finalize the selection and quantity (in Nov pa after RSVP) then we'll contact the merchants/ visit S&R as recommended =)

I'm not sure about the price in S&R but there's this liquor shop in Newport mall na duty free ang prices ng hard drinks like Blue Label  etc. I didn't notice the wines though but if they also have there, then it would be duty free price din. You may check it out in case you're in RWM area.. It's located in the 1st floor, near the money changer/washroom area

Unimart and Cash&Carry's hard liquor cheaper kaya than Puregold? 
Haven't checked the former, but Puregold's a lot lot cheaper than SM when I compared liquor prices (when it comes to all products actually). Will check nga Unimart and CashCarry

^Actually i know nothing about buying alcohol cheaper in bulk hehe not sure if cheaper sa distributor, sa certain wine stores or sa S&R/ Unimart etc.

My fiance has finally agreed to at least serve some hard drinks on top of red and white wine. Pero since iba iba brands/ distributors baka best that we just get them all in a retail store than separate distributors.
