Bad or Weird Job Interview Experiences

Engineering grad ako nun, right after ng board exam, niyaya ako mag apply ng friend ko as Flight Attendant. Wala akong experience noon pa sumakay sa eroplano so wala akong idea kung ano ginagawa ng mga FA. After initial interview, bigla akong pinag demo at pina basa sa akin as lively and as clearly daw yung routine about safety ng flight bago lumipad ang eroplano. Dahil wala akong idea paano yun, naisip ko yung Pirate sa Sponge Bob Square pants kaya nagboses at accent Pirate ako habang binabasa yun. Nung araw ring yun, nareceive ko agad ang message na I didn't get the job. hahaha

ako naman, tinanong ako ng hr kung anong fb ko, as in chineck nya right there and then! eh sobrang private ng fb ko. nagcomment pa sha "wow private person" lol kakaloka!

^ Uso na talaga ang background check ngayon. Kaya mas ok na wala kang FB, or if meron man, use screen names.

^ it just weirded me out na ichcheck nya sa harapan ko, lol. siguro nga kaya ganun ginawa nya kasi marami nang gumagamit ng mga alias haha kaya on the spot sha magcheck? haha. nakakailang kase tas ang mischievous pa ng itsura nya habang chinicheck. parang powertripping lang

one of the worst experience I had for an interview was via skype, tapos chat lang, sobrang tagal ng process tapos mala-essay dapat ang sagot sa questions na di na related.. article writing yung work na yun e. sobrang naweird talaga ako. super tagal pa ng process. one thing i like about bpo pa is one-day processing

Had this interview last 2013 - for a sales account (BPO company). Wala pa akong experience sa BPO nun, and lalong lalo sa sales. Nung final interview ko, pinabenta ako ng lollipop for Php100 sa diabetic patient. Hala, mukha akong ewan. Sabi ko lang "I have this lollipop for 100php. Please buy it because this is sweet and will make your day better." Hahaha! Lol. Sure fail na yun, pero hindi ko talaga alam if nakapasa ako or hindi kasi nawala yung phone ko at hindi na ako nag follow up sa kanila.

Then, nag try ulit ako BPO company din dito sa Makati. Hindi pa ako careful sa grammar ko noon at para lang akong neneng nag apply (I was 18 that time). Dapat 5 kami sa initial interview, pero suddenly, biglang lumabas yung apat na kasama ko natira akong mag isa. When the interviewer came, she asked me: "Where are they?" And then I replied "They leave." Tapos sabi nya, "Ahhh, they left." Hahaha! Kaloka. Sa isip ko "Oo nga past tense kasi." Tapos same interviewer, she asked me what's my fave subject in college. Then sinabi ko "My favorite subject is Filipino. I love to do declamation piece in Tagalog." Grabe! To think na call center agent yung inaapplyan ko, and I'll be speaking with Americans sa floor. Pero guess what, pinasa nya ako. Tuwang tuwa ako nung sinabi niyang "Okay. You may proceed to the testing area." Sabi ko: "Really I passed? *with matching happy and smiling face*" Lol

Mine was not a bad interview experience, it was a weird one. The interviewer asked about my opinion on Pre-marital Sex. I was caught off guard and I didn't expect that kind of question will be asked. It was beyond the common interview questions

Dito sa 1st job ko as lawyer, nung interview ko, tinanong ako ng mga partners (na boss ko na ngayon) kung okay lang daw ako sa mga under the table transactions. Syempre sabi ko NO. Mas gugustuhin ko na lang matalo ang kaso ko pero intact ang dignity ko kaysa panalo nga pero binayaran ko naman ang judge o kung sino mang opisyal ng gobyerno. Ang awkward lang ng tanong ha. Pero they assure me na wag daw ako mag-alala kasi di daw nila ginagawa yun sa firm. Buti naman!

1. Call Center in Makati -
HR asked me why I left my previous company. I said, I rested for awhile and now wanted to go back to work. Then he insisted, seemed not satisfied with my answer. So I told him with all honesty the issues I've had with the previous call center I've worked for. Ending, I was not hired and he taught me pa of the correct way of answering HR questionnaires. Sarap sabihin, ikaw kaya namilit! Haha! Fresh grad pa kasi too mabait pa nun. Good thing na din kasi kung tinuloy ko I might still be working in a call center and wouldn't be able to pursue a job related to my studies.

2. Agency for abroad -
This job I really taught I was hired na coz I was able to speak with the owner and manager of the company. We had a good interview din talaga and it was related to my studies. Now the bad thing was, the manager of the company got my mobile number and kept on asking me what time will I go out of my work (I still have work that time when I applied) to finalize the contract. So I was surprised because why would they direclty ask me, diba dapat dadaan ng agency? I thought nung una, ok lang. Later on, invitation for dinner na. Miss na daw ako. Hala syaaa! Kala naman papatol ako! Ichura naman! Scary!!! Haha!

As the person who does the interview naman, I find it weird when I see applicants coming in unkempt and applying for a position that requires them to look presentable. Weird din for me to get extremely negative feedback about the former employer kasi kahit pa tinanong ko un, I expect the applicant to be professional.  What if client na kausap mo, every time someone pushes you maiinis ka agad?

^ Maybe the interviewer wanted to see how you would react to unconventional or controversial questions.  In addition, he may have had a hidden agenda. (moreso if you answered "will I get the job if I say I crave premarital sex?" hahaha)

My sister's friend applied sa isang hotel near UN Ave as a receptionist, the interviewer asked her if she's still a virgin. It was awkward but she still answered the question thinking na it was normal lang (fresh grad kasi). Then she told my sister (who was also a receptionist in Makati naman during that time) about it. My sister told her friend that she was never asked that kind of question naman during her interview. Her friend did not accept the job offer, natakot na baka maging victim ng sexual harassment.

With my present company,  I was also asked several personal questions like yung setup ng family, sino nagbabantay sa child ko, paano kapag may sakit ang bata etc. I find it awkward lalo na yung question regarding family setup. Pero later on I realized naman na gusto pala nila malaman kung gaano ako ka-committed sa work lalo na I have a kid. They were worried kasi na baka biglang magresign kasi walang mag-aalaga ng bata or always absent for the same reason.

Happened during my first interview here in Dubai. Pag open pa lang nung door bungad agad nung HR Manager na lalake "Oh you look like my ex" so syempre ako nabigla kaya dedma lang. Then nung sinabi niya saken na I'm qualified and kung kelan daw ako pwede magstart, sabi ko next week pero wala na talaga akong plan na iaccept yung offer. Kasi naman ang dami niya ng personal questions and feeling uncomfortable na ako. Last week lang eh nagmessage pa siya sa whatsapp, ugh. Hindi ko na lang sini-seen.

Pasensya na at OT as this was not a job interview but a rental application. And weird lang kasi nung interview, kailangan ko makwento, LOL. Bukod sa halos pinag-usapan namin yung personal and professional life ko mula pagkabata (na soobrang wala naman kinalaman sa pagiging tenant), eh inimply pa kung kabit ako. I felt bad that I had to answer those questions, to be honest. Grabe lang. I've been interviewed for rentals several times already at dun lang ako nakaencounter ng ganun. So arrogant.
