Bad or Weird Job Interview Experiences

Hi! Just curious. Have you ever had bad or weird job interview experiences? Feel free to share them here and how did you handled them!

These were my experience as the interviewer:

I noticed that the applicant was chewing gum so I told him na iluwa muna nya yung nginunguya niya. Ako pa nagbigay ng tissue kay kuya, haist! 

I interviewed another Restaurant Manager applicant. Wow, talk about grudges vs previous company. Although may pinaghuhugutan naman si Sir, I think its still not right to bad mouth your former employer. Needless to say, may grudge din siguro sa kin for not hiring him 

Meron naman masyadong nerbyoso as in nanginginig na yung voice tapos panay punas ng hands sa pantalon.. Ako yung nadidistract so I just told the guy na parang magkukwento lang naman sya ng tungkol sa work experience nya,nothing to be nervous about.

When I was in my early 20s naman, booming pa lang ang call center industry, wala ako maresearch masyado about the job. On my final interview, I was asked to do a role play of customer service transaction, my golly speechless talaga ako as in na blangko isip ko wala ako nasabi. Obviously hindi ako natanggap hahaha, okay lang, I think di ko calling ang maging call center agent

During the interview of my sister, her resume was criticized because she should have submitted a Bio Data daw dapat. Hindi na maka-move on yung interviewer dahil ang pangit daw ng resume niya kasi kulang sa details at nilait ng nilait yung resume niya for not including details like birthday, family details, etc...

She was applying for a Quality Inspector at that time for a company owned by the family of a friend. She informed the friend and the friend said "She's (the interviewer) old and likes to stick to what she was used to." The friend eventually offered the position to my sister but my sister declined.

I was over dressed for an interview. The interviewer was commenting on my answers.
Q: What will you do if you made a mistake...
A: I will ask for forgiveness...
Q: Ask for forgiveness?!? Makasalanan?

I didn't get the job but I was fine by it.

Weird job experience ko... newly grad palang ako kumbaga wala pa gaano experience pero nagbabasa naman ako ng articles about job interviews and how to answer the questions properly. I had an invitation for an interview as Trainee. Headhunter palang yung nag interview tinanong nya ako what will I become 5 years from now... 19 years old ako noon, sabi ko five years from now I am studying my masteral degree and purchase my first real estate investment which is a house... nakakaloka, tinarayan ako ni ateng HR sabi nya napaka ambitious ko daw for those kind of thoughts as in tinaasan ako ng kilay at kinontra nya na I won't get those by 5 years alone... nakakaasar lang. I didn't get the job (thankfully kasi di ko rin nakikita sarili ko working for them) but looking back gusto ko balikan yung HR at sabihin nagawa ko sya by 24 y/o ako nag aaral ng masteral and purchased my own house. Napaka bitter ng HR na yun and looking back she was unprofessional.

Out of desperation, I applied for a Sales position. I was asked why I was applying for that position. I said the office is conveniently located in ____ and that I have always wanted to work in that area. That was me being perky lang, you know to avoid stiff answers. Eh ayaw ata nila ng perky at mukhang nababawan sila sa sagot ko The interviewer went on asking me about past job experiences, what did I do, blah blah. Basically they found out I'm not meant to be in Sales. I know this for a fact. As in I don't see myself in Sales and the only reason I applied is because it's located conveniently to where I wanted it.

Ang ending tuloy ng interview is parang pangaral hahahaha na I should pursue this other interest of mine, etc. I even asked for advice jusko!

may naexperience ako before na to be able to get in kelangan akong makabenta ng kung ano man yung product na yun. i forgot na what item was that. tumawag na nga ako sa parents ko na sila na lang ang bumili, buti pinagalitan nila ako at hindi kinunsinte.  worst experience yun ever.  parang nung time na yun usong uso yung mga ganung raket.

The weird experience interview i had. Interviewer: do you go out at night and party up till dawn? Lakwatchera ka ba? Me:(na shock) no i don't have time for that and other blah blah (echos answer). Got hired after the interview.

Sa last job ko before my current company. After ng mahabang technical interview ito ni Team Lead, wala na siguro maitanong.

Team Lead: Are you married ( I don't wear wedding ring kasi )
Me: Yes Sir, I'm married for 4 years
Team Lead: Huh? How come? Wala kang suot na wedding ring?
Me: Huh? Pag po ba may ring ibig sabihin married na?
Team Lead: ( Natawa ), so my kid ka na?
Me: Yup, I have a son who is currently 2 years old
Team Lead: Ah ok, ( tatawa tawa )
Me: ( sa isip ko ), kailangan ba talaga itanong yun? pang HR yun di ba??

Natanggap naman ako dun sa job.

Hindi naman sa nagyayabang pero yung isang inapplyan ko ng work sa Manila, super wrong grammar at hindi niya alam kung ano ang work process, tungkol saan yung business nila at hindi siya naka damit ng maayos.

Prior to the scheduled interview, sinabihan kami na mag corporate attire, since corporate ang pinapasukan namin. Nabigla ako naka plain white shirt siya at Naka slacks na black. Commendable naman shoes niya kasi maganda.

At the interview proper, questions were asked and nag answer naman ako, excellent sabi pa nga niya eh. Di ko lang talaga mapigilan na isipin at sabihin sa sarili ko yung mga corrections ko kapag nagkakamali siya sa grammar. Hindi ko naman siya kinorrect, sa utak ko lang ako nag cocorrect.

Yun nga, I didn't get the job din naman, may kakilala siya doon sa mga co-candidates ko.

Nagkakilala kilala kami ng mga co-candidates at balita ko yung nakapasok eh yung kakilala niya.

My gosh mga sis medyo quota ako dito hahaha! May mga super funny akong job interviews nun kabataan ko na hinding hindi ko makakalimutan.

1. First time kong ma interview via phone call. At nangyari ito one very early morning. Tulog pa ang lola nyo syempre groggy ang pagsagot ko ng phone, half asleep pa ako at oo lang ako ng oo sa sinasabi nun nag iinterview. At eto na ang scenario question nya.. if you would be invisible for a day what would you do? At ang sagot ko ay.. I would go to the mall and take everything i want. Hahaha magnanakaw ang peg. So syempre I didn't get the job.

2. I was very nervous, first timer pa kasi.. I didn't have breakfast tapos i bought mocha frap. Ayun medyo nag alburuto ang tyan ko in the middle of the interview. I had to cut it short, sabi ko im really sorry i cant take it anymore and i rushed out of the room to go to the nearest bathroom lol! I didnt get that job as well hahah

Group interview muna yung ginawa sa amin hanggang sa napunta yung usapan sa eleksyon, yung interviewer is matanda na and mataas na tao sa company - sobra buildup niya kay Gloria Arroyo na kesyo mas magaling daw at mapagkakatiwalaan - at sinisiraan niya pa si FPJ sa amin. Before that group interview ended tinanong kami paikot sa mesa kung sino iboboto namin, nagpressure ako kasi lahat sila Arroyo ang sinabi pero dahil may paninindigan ako sa iboboto ko ang sinabi ko FPJ, nagulat sila lalo na yung interviewer dahil ako lang nag FPJ talaga.. Buti na lang natanggap pa rin ako..

In one job interview I had, the interviewer used up most of the time bragging about her own achievements rather than listening to mine. 

Apparently she wanted to foster the impression that if she hired me, I should fully understand that she is superior to me in every imaginable way.

I still find it lame, sa Civil they don't need wedding ring. Symbol lang naman yun. Same here wala rin akong wedding ring.

May na experience na ako na parang clueless kung ano mga itatanong sa akin 
Meron naman parang frustrated lawyer kung magtanong.

Sa dami ng inapplyan ko hindi ko ma detalye yung iba. Although I will post again if may na recall ako.

i applied in an international bank. i was call interviewed by a British lady and asked me at the beginning how was the weather . I answered, "we have a sunny day right now"....parang i was surprised and nervous and i  didn't mind to lie since i know she's not in Manila, second am not really sure of the weather since am on the 8th floor of the building with roman blinds around. hehe. my interviewer replied back, "uhuh, i think it's a bit  gloomy weather right now.  yay, she is on the same building lang pala. hahaha. she turned out to be a nice interviewer and she passed me  but i failed with the final  interview  and was conducted by  a pinay. mga kababayan nga naman natin mas meticulous pa sa foreigner.

^ako naman, i can't say it's weird pero traumatic ata yun experience ko, fresh grad pa lang ako nun and wala pa work experience, almost got a job na kaso sumablay sa last interview with the company president. during the interview, nun nagstart ako magspeak ng tagalog eh sinabihan niya na ako na "speak in english", then if nagkakamali ako ng grammar kinokorek niya ako, english teacher ata yun hahaha..

Engineering grad ako nun, right after ng board exam, niyaya ako mag apply ng friend ko as Flight Attendant. Wala akong experience noon pa sumakay sa eroplano so wala akong idea kung ano ginagawa ng mga FA. After initial interview, bigla akong pinag demo at pina basa sa akin as lively and as clearly daw yung routine about safety ng flight bago lumipad ang eroplano. Dahil wala akong idea paano yun, naisip ko yung Pirate sa Sponge Bob Square pants kaya nagboses at accent Pirate ako habang binabasa yun. Nung araw ring yun, nareceive ko agad ang message na I didn't get the job. hahaha

I've experienced a lot of "namemersonal" interviewers. Lala na kapag gay. One of my experiences eto recent lang. Lalake interviewer, pang IT pala yung inapplyan ko eh sa job description naman nila na nakapost walang hint duon na for IT Professionals pala. Nagtanong tanong sya about sa web maintenance and blah blah ang yabang. Tapos pinansin ako "is that howbl you seat?! I'm sorry,  I'm just irritated!" ang ayos naman ng upo ko. He should be amaze pa nga dapat ang dami ko nasagot regarding sa IT-related-stuffs to think HRM graduate ako. I'm applying for Office/Admin Staff btw. Expected ko na work as posted naman is more on Secretarial, typing, and basic MS stuffs. Nabwisit ako gusto ko magwalk out kung hindi lang ako bastos. Pinagmukha nya ako t**** grabe. Alam mo ba inaapplyan mo?? Nagbasa ka ba?? Like duh?? Hello, magpapass ba ako kung hindi ko alam inaapplyan ko diba? I won't waste my time lalo na ang layo ng binyahe ko. ayun di ako tinawagan which is ok naman for me. Kung tatawag naman I'll tell him that I'm employed already. Hahaha!

Another pala eto da hotel ask nung hr "How do you find blah blah Hotel?" tapos sagot ko naman "It's one of the best hotel ing Angeles" sumabat yung isang tao dun sa HR office "How can you say it was the best?" nagulat ako hindi naman sya nung interviewer. Haha!

I experienced yung group interview. na shocked ako kasi now lang ako nakaexperience non.4 kaming applicant pinagsabay nila. naaawa ko don sa isang kasabay ko from province sya, hindi straight ang english at kinakabahan. ako nga na mas may experience sa kanila kinabahan eh. tapos yun isang kasabay namin pa bibo, english speaking tapos fresh grad pero dami nagawa sa thesis, yung isa naman eh nag ojt sa kanila. tapos na offend pa ko sa sinabi nung isang nag interview. 5 years na daw ako sa field ko bakit naisip ko pa daw naisip mag change ng field pagisipan ko daw mabuti. Galing ako sa company nila but ibang department. nakakainis pa pinamalita sa mga dati kong ka team nung isang nag interview na nag apply ako sa kanila. oh di ba?

So, before I got hired from the bpo company that I am working for now, I had this weird yet kilig moment during the interview before I got hired nga.

So the interview as usual, blah blah blah, and then the interviewer asked me if I can work under pressure and If can deal with the workloads that they're going to offer me. I subconsciously told the interviewer "Oh yes, I can take a lot" <---for those who doesn't know, that sentence is usually being used to flirt LOL. Weird enough that I told him that, He smiled at me. Alam ni koya yung meaning LMAO. Oh well, If I wasn't just unhappy with the company then I would have pursued him. Ako talaga LOL. I'll be transferring na kasi to a better company.
