How do you pray for what you need?
« on: May 02, 2015, 09:45:37 am »
Actually i don't know what to put in the subject line...

But here it is...

I usually pray to God to provide us with our daily need. Protect us with our everyday life...ganun mga sis. Then i say thank you sa mga blessings received. Never ko sinabi specific kung ano yung needs namin.

Until my husband told me that may teaching shang pinapakingan sa Youtube and mga reading na binabasa sa isang spiritual speaker then nag bigay sha ng mga sample na nasa bible.

Dapat daw you ask God specifically vocally of what you need. Oo daw God knows what we need and wants before pa natin e pray yun but we need to say it specifically. Like for example: Dear God I need 75k this week before May 5 to pay off my bill or else maririmata nayung sinanla ko... Ganun daw ka specific mga sis.

And sample daw na Ginamit is when Jesus heal the blind man na lumapit sa kanya. Sa nya kay Jesus please help me... Then nakita ni Jesus na bulag yung lalaki but still Jesus asked the blind man what do you want me to do for you? Then the blind man says...Please make me see, heal my eyes and make me see you my God. And Jesus touch the blind man and gave what he asked God to do for him.

Pero tayo daw nahihiya mag sabi kung ano gusto natin. Minsan sagot daw natin is bahala napo kayo samin. Maniwala daw tayo that God is a very generous God...Galante!  :D

What do you think of this mga sis?

Most of my prayers is to thank God for all the blessings he has given me everyday. Bihira lang yung time na humingi ako sa Kanya.

I used to ask, very specific.  IMO, It isn't because God needs to hear it from me -- but yun nga, sabi "ask & you shall receive."

Looking back, I realized that oftentimes, what I asked for was what wouldn't make me a better person. Not bad, but not as good.

During the dark phase of our marriage, I used to pray to sangkaterbang santos & make deals with God -- basta tumigil Lang sa effing around my philanderer of a husband. Until I just couldn't take it anymore, pagod na ko.  Yon pala yung sabi ng mga matanda -- surrender it all to God.  So I said, I am tired, I have done everything, wala na ko maisip -- no more deals with You, I have nothing more to promise. Bahala ka na. You want this marriage to end, fine. You want it to go on, fine. You make the chips fall wherever. But I pray to The Holy Spirit to give me Guidance to sort it as You want it, and to have the courage to do Thy Will.

I wasn't any happier, but I wasn't in a sorrier situation.  Kung baga, that's it pancit.  I got my brains out of the freezer, shucked all my fck-sades; and kicked myself back to my real real self.  Oo mabuti akong wife, but not stup1d;  oo I am a caring/persevering wife, but not a martyr.  I said to myself: I am not taking anymore of this crap. We aren't both happy, so be it -- go.  I really regained my old strong self.
Shortly thereafter, things unraveled for my husband. Hindi ever ko ma kausap about his effing around -- king of denials. Eh ang galing magtago! Hindi ko mahuli.

Well, God threw a bathtub at him. Hindi kasi tinataboan ng  tabo tabo Lang.  I gained info about the kab1tch he left 6 months ago -- in a manner he could not deny. Oo, tapos kung sa tapos -- sorry kung sorry but I said ayoko na to go through all that. Trust is hard to regain di ba. Atchaka my heart was sooo tired parang when I looked at him: kadirz, sino ka nga ba?!

So I think yang being specific works if you get to a level higher than your suffering.
I had to be strong enough to say: bahala ka na God, if you want us to part, so be it.  Dati dasal ko ma fix my marriage, it gets better. Hindi ba andon yung takot you lose the one you love?  But when I stepped past the fear, and returned to my real self, na Eto ako I will focus on my good points, quesehoda iwan mo ko or not. -- ayon, things got better than I could have imagined to ask for.  Our marriage is much better than it ever was, he has really transformed (accdg to my sisters, ako yung may sungay and buntot nowadays).

So, when I got hold of myself to be the better stronger person I am -- nung tinigilan ko pagka wala ng sarili ko -- God helps those who help themselves. Sure, he is a very generous & loving Father. But di ba, as a Father you want your child to grow strong and better focused? So yon, I am no longer obsessed with my husband. Yup, love him and all, but I will not crack if he leaves.  I learned that a life dedicated to 1 person is not worth it.  We were created for so much more.

I do believe:  PRAY ASK RECEIVE
But instead of saying, God I wanna nail down this specific project. I pray that He gives me the clarity of mind and the courage to risk appropriately enough to get this specific project, and the Divine Guidance to complete it with integrity and generosity.
God helps those who help themselves.  IMO, He will get you to where you wanna find yourself IF you give clear/focused/committed signs that ikaw nga eh doon nga gusto mo mag landing.

Tama si Sis LONELY MISS:   Start and end prayers with gratitude

^i know that feeling sis :)
Recently lang ito, i was so confused kung itutuloy ko magpa opera or wag muna. I was diagnosed kasi w/ endometriosis, ang hirap hirap, laging may masakit... One saturday afternoon, i attended a wedding bilang part of the choir. Before ako umuwi i really prayed hard to God,  i was on my knees then, sabi ko bahala na Sya kasi naguguluhan na ko talaga. Then i went home tapos umalis ako uli to meet some friends. Wala pa ata 3 hrs after ko magpray I received a text from my doctor postponing the scheduled operation. Nasa mall ako nun pero halos maiyak iyak ako sa relief, at sa immediate answer to my prayers.

God is really good :)

even for simple thing and makalupang kagustuhan pinagdarasal ko na parang kinakausap ko lang lagi si Lord. example lagi ko sinasabi pag may gusto akong pagkain or damit/ sapatos bag, sasabihin ko Lord, Lord bibilhin ko lang po yan pag nagsale yan. then mawawala na sa isip ko yung gamit na yun then pagtingin ko ulit next time sobrang mura na nya, as in lahat ng gusto ko naka sale. wow talaga!

“A certain one of his disciples said to him: ‘Lord, teach us how to pray.’”—LUKE 11:1.

As part of his response, Jesus related two illustrations that teach us how to pray and be heard by God. If you have ever wondered whether God hears your prayers, you will be interested in Jesus’ reply.—Read Luke 11:5-13.

The first illustration focuses on the one who prays. (Luke 11:5-8)

In the story, a man receives a guest late at night and has no food to set before him. To the host, the matter is urgent. Despite the hour, he goes to a friend’s house in order to borrow some bread. At first, the friend is reluctant to get up because his family is fast asleep with him. But with unembarrassed persistence, the determined host keeps asking until finally his friend gets up and gives him some provisions.

What does the illustration teach us about prayer? Jesus is telling us that we need to be persistent—to keep asking, seeking, and knocking. (Luke 11:9, 10)  Why? Is Jesus suggesting that when we pray we are, in effect, pounding at the door of a reluctant God? No.  Jesus’ point is that unlike the hesitant friend, God is eager to grant the proper requests of those who pray in faith. We show such faith by our persistence. By repeatedly asking, we reveal that we really need what we are asking for and that we truly believe that God can grant it—if that is his will.—Mark 11:24; 1 John 5:14.

The second illustration focuses on the “Hearer of prayer,” God . (Psalm 65:2) Jesus asks: “Which father is there among you who, if his son asks for a fish, will perhaps hand him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he also asks for an egg, will hand him a scorpion?” The answer is obvious—no caring father gives harmful things to his children. Then, Jesus applies the illustration: If imperfect human fathers “give good gifts” to their children, “how much more so will the Father in heaven give holy spirit”—the best of gifts—to his earthly children who ask him!—Luke 11:11-13; Matthew 7:11.

What does this illustration teach us about our Heavenly Father, the “Hearer of prayer”? Jesus invites us to see God (Yahweh or Jehovah) as a caring Father who is eager to respond to the needs of his children. Hence, God's worshippers can feel free to approach him with the requests of their heart. And knowing that he wants what is best for them, they can readily accept his answer to their request, even if the answer is not what they expected.

When i pray for something, i pray specifically then follow with Jeremiah 29:11 and Ephesians 3:20 verses. and sometimes in the middle of the day thank him for blessings on the way. Whenever i get stressed i stop and remind myself to pray. Like what he said sa Philippians 4,6,7 don't worry, pray and tell God everything so you will receive the peace that surpasses all understanding. If nasestress na talaga ako, i surrender na to Him. Let go and let God and wait for His best version :)

Buhayin ko lang na thread na ito.  I just cant help eh. Ang saya saya ko kasi. Friday I asked the Lord. "Ama, one last time bigyan mo ako ng work and I promise pagiingatan ko na. Magbibigay na rin ako ng oras sa iyo." Then voila!!!! Saturday I met a friend through facebook and asked me if I can apply sa company nila coming monday. If everything went well start daw ako agad. So pumunta ako Monday 8am. then interview and exams. Around 11:30 I was asked kung makapag start ako same day. I said yes!!!! Dayshift and Weekends off !!!! Ang galing talaga!!! Ang lakas ko rin sa Ama talaga.

So ayun. When I pray I thank Him first for everything. Ask for forgiveness then ask for whatever I want. I am always specific. Kahit nga sa prayer ko na makapag-asawa pati pangalan nung lalake sinasabe ko sa Kanya!!! LOL
Sure God created man before woman.  But then you always make a rough draft before the final masterpiece.

dont ask for it affirm it and give thanks even if you haven't received what you are asking for just yet, the way our mind works is a little different than what we know about.

say it like you already have it when you pray, and say thank you

Does it really happen that you need to sacrifice something in order for God to answer your prayer?

--------------

ganito ko mag pray as much as possible sinusunod ko yung tinuro ni Jesus Christ na prayer
(Matthew 6:9-13) insert na lang yun mga prayer request in between.

I feel like i am in a never ending test of faith. Na parang kahit anong dasal ang gawin ko, feeling ko hindi ako sinasagot ni God. Kaya pumasok sa sa isip ko yan, that i need to sacrifice something in order for God to answer my prayer.

Ayoko naman isipin ni God na napapagod na ko magdasal at magtiwala sa kanya. Kaya hindi ako tumitigil magdasal. Minsan lang nakakainip kase hindi ko alam kung sasagutin pa ba nya yung dasal ko.

^ bakit hindi mo I change yung prayer mo sis? I mean if ang prayer mo halimbawa lang eh payamanin ka, try to pray na magkaron ng stable na company na mapapasukan na tipong magtatagal ka talaga. another example if ang prayer mo malampasan mo ang mga pagsubok na dumarating sayo but still feeling mo patuloy pa din ang pagdating nito sayo why don't you pray kay God na gawin kang malakas at matatag ask wisdom and knowledge para maharap mo ang lahat ng mga break through sa buhay mo. sometimes we need to assess our prayers baka kasi temporary solutions lang ang hinihingi natin sa Diyos, eh pag Siya nag bigay ng answer pang matagalan at talagang masasabi mong sagot sa panalangin. God answers sa mga prayers natin in perfect timing. kasi alam Niya, His grace are sufficient sa bawat araw dahil alam nya ang mga pangangailangan natin.

every night i pray even if i don't really need something in particular.  i think it's important to have communication with God through prayers, it is a calming way to end the night as well, and it's good to have a relationship with our God regardless if may problem tayo or wala.

hi sis, i'm so sorry to hear this. I'm a regular attendee of "The Feast" and one of the key messages recently is that "You are more than enough". It means that you don't need to do or say anything to deserve God's love or God's blessings.  :) God answers our prayers in many ways... sometimes he says "Yes, watch for it"... other times he says "Yes, work for it" or "Yes, wait for it." or "No, wish for something better." I got this also from The Feast and incidentally may notes ako kaya na-share ko. :) The last type of answer is probably the toughest because it's a No. But maybe that's because what we're asking for is not what's best for us? Why would we settle for something that is mediocre? It's like let's say a kid asking for Php20 from his parent and the parent says no, because yun pala, he was preparing a Php1,000 gift for him on his birthday." Something like that. I know it's easier said than done, but just keep the faith.

My mom also once taught me na when you pray, pray for what you want but also pray for the strength to accept the Lord's will. One example, was when we were looking for a house. There was a house we really wanted already (within budget, bnew, etc) but we didn't buy it because the terms from the bank and the appraisal value was not good. I prayed that we get that house, but I also said "Lord if it's not for us, give us the strength to accept it and follow your will." It's also a form of surrender and trust that He has great plans for us.

Tama yung husband mo sis. God knows His plans for us but He still listens for what we specifically want or need.

I always pray everyday to God - to thank Him, ask for forgiveness and pray for my own needs and the people in my life. And I'm so lucky na I witness God's miracle in my life several times. Binibigay niya talaga sa'tin kung para sa atin. Kung hindi naman niya ibigay, let's trust Him because He knows what or who is best for us.  :)
Live a happy and positive life.

never say I WANT, I WISH, SANA, WISH KO LANG, HINIHILING KO or anything similar phrases when you pray you dont ask the heavens for anything the heavens has provided you with with everything you  need to survive in order to get it all you have to say is THANK YOU....

ex:  THANK YOU (NAME OF YOUR GOD) FOR GIVING ME ( THE ITEM YOU WANT OR THE AMOUNT YOU NEED)

thank you god for giving me P100,000.00
or
thank you god for healing my father from his (name of disease or sickness)

once you have affirmed that what you wished for is already with you or you have accepted it its easier for the heavens to grant it to you your wishes.

:) most of you know  where to find me for more questions.
