May mentor ba kayo?
« on: March 10, 2015, 11:25:31 pm »
Hi, mga sis.

I was just wondering kung meron kayong mentor. Kung meron, papano niyo sila naging mentor?

Naghahanap kasi ako ng career mentor. Yung pwede kong tanungan ng mga bagay bagay tsaka yung pwede mag-share ng experience niya sa akin. Of course ang hanap ko is someone sana in the same line of work.

Share naman kayo. Thanks!

I consider my current boss as my mentor. One of my exes din hehe. I learn so much from them, not just about career but also about life in general. My boss is like a much nicer The Devil Wears Prada haha. Very quick, wise and will push you to your limits. I'm very lucky to have her. Knowing them made me realize that it's true what they say: You need a mentor to move up in your career.

^you are so lucky! :D
^^TS naghahanap din ako ng mentor.
I was told that I need to have someone to look up to, para mas mapabuti pa yung career path ko at mas matuto, lalo na daw na may nakikita syang potensyal sakin.
Within the month eto daw ang task ko?! agad agad? e wala pa akong makita :'(

This is a timely topic for me. Actually my latest blog entry is about my dream mentor. He's my professor in group psychotherapy and a co-founder of Center for Family Ministries in Ateneo. He's a priest.

The closest connection I have with him is being a part of his team in one of his ministries and then tail him in all of his subjects.

Kung pwede nga lang maging personal assistant o alalay sa mga ministries nya eh... labo naman at my present stage.

Di ba they say na you have to spend 10,000 hours doing a specific craft before you can be considered a master. And having a mentor can shorten that length of time dahil you can learn and observe how your mentor think and perform.

The author of Mastery, Robert Greene, advised that after absorbing all that you can from your mentor, your goal is to exceed him/her, to find your own uniqueness and not be contented in mimicking him. But the mentorship in his examples took few to several years of mentor-apprentice relationship.

Maganda yung book lalo na if you're serious of finding and having a mentor, it will teach you how to maximize your relationship with your mentor. If you will be an apprentice syempre dapat may maitulong ka rin sa kanya, not just one-way, hindi lang sya yung bigay nang bigay.

Mentor is a big factor to an individual career growth. Unfortunately for me, I have no mentor. I-mementor daw ako ng friend ko as long as iiwanan ko yung current company ko (Which is okay lang kasi hindi na ako masaya). How bout you, girls?

hi sis. yup napakalaking tulong ng mentors. if you're looking for one, the best course of action is i-define mo kung anong mentor ang hanap mo. Be specific. You said, career mentor. Anong industry? etc. Then iresearch mo kung sino yung mga best in that field. Connect with them sa social media. Once na makabuild ka ng relationship with them, it's easier to ask them to mentor you. :)

^ Would someone actually be willing to teach what they know for the sake of sharing?  :)  I'm just thinking out loud that as much as I would want to be helpful, I would not just share what I know in my line of work.  What I know is after all a trade secret, and it's the reason why I am good with what I'm doing.

Now I realize I have none. Parang suntok sa buwan lahat ng actions ko. Trial and error. Walang defined path, scattered in all directions. I wish I would be able to have one na soon. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and reconnecting with those that I knew from the past this coming year. :) Sana among those may makilala na kong mag-iinspire at makagagabay sakin.

mentor as in nagbibigay ng tips pano ayusin at gawen certain workloads sa current job or mentor sa pag pili ng career ?

sa una kong work pinaka nag guguide sakin yung IT program head namin which so bait and understanding then later on pati na din yung ibang kasamahan ko sa work.

pero sa pag apply, pagpili ng career and stuff. wala ganu. merun man hindi ganun ka indepth ang tips. yung iba sana related sa career na gusto kong mapunta pero ayaw mag share. so inaalam ko na lang mostly sa iba kong kakilala kunware yung mga dapat ayusin sa work or nagtatanung at nagsesearch na lang ako sa internet kagaya ng the female network
