Accounting for Small Businesses
« on: March 10, 2015, 11:33:34 am »
Hi! Anyone here who can share how they handle their accounting & bookkeeping for small or home based business? I currently have a freelance accountant that I pay a monthly retainer's fee pero hindi siya okay. Kailangan ko pang mag follow-up lagi then minsan sablay pa ang computation. Baka meron sa inyong makakapag recommend ng maayos at matinong accountant?
Home Based lang ang business ko pero my clients are all corporate accounts kaya I need a matinong accountant sana.
Thanks.

I have a business and I do my own, since I have a background in accounting. I also have an accountant friend that will check my work kung ok tapos submit na lang sa BIR.

Since I also love this type of work, I am now planning of taking Bookkeeping course and hopefully in the future I can also add this to my business.

^Good for you Cheesecak3.

I really suggest those small business to attend a seminar/workshop of Accounting for Non-Accountants instead. And better to include tax compliance. At least one time payment na lang yun. Kaya na nila since small lang naman ang business.

Usually kasi, you pay for an accountant for BIR filing purposes lang. Bihira yung aware that businesses should maintain their books. Ang sisipag pa naman ng BIR ngayon.

hi! me naman i have a small laundry shop. i hired an accountant on the first month tapos tinuro niya sa akin how to book/write on the bir ledgers. also sa pagfillup ng forms. succeeding months, ako na lang gumagawa. nagdownload rin ako ng offline e-bir forms sa bir website. madali lang siya gamitin, as long as alam mo mga forms na isasubmit mo. i think it's on your certificate of registration kung anuanong mga tax ang need mo i-file. auto-compute na yung sa ebir forms, just supply your business' gross revenue and other info then magcompute na siya.

this april i will ask for her assistance ulit kasi annual filing and i have a regular job rin kaya medyo lito pa ko on how to merge my office income with my laundry business.

for the books, i was given 3, pero 2 lang nagagamit ko.
1. cash/receipt ledger - i record here all the ORs i issue, in sequential order yung OR#s.
2. disbursement/expense ledger - eto yung may marami columns na ledger (8-column, 12-column), depende sa dami or types ng expenses na ilalagay nyo. record all your expenses here but yung resibo ng mga ginastos dapat may copy kayo.
3. general ledger/journal - sabi ng accountant ko, kung may mga adjustments or entries na kailangan idagdag, dito ilalagay. pero so far di ko pa siya nagagamit.

hope this helps :)

i heard in the office that you can use the receipts of your expenses (business-related) to reduce the tax that you need to pay, i think it has something to do with input VAT and output VAT... is this also applicable for small businesses? Can anyone enlighten us on this? TIA!

yes you can claim all your business related expenses to lessen your income tax that is your sales - expenses is the your taxable income. This goes to vat and non vat registered companies.

Sana may makapag share sa mga naka attend na. Thanks.

Kailangan ba CPA? Ako kasi may background sa accounting and that was my previous work pero matagal n. I've worked as business and tax consultant year 2003-2006. Thank for this idea, I think I have to take a refreshercourse in this line. Thanks for being here. I also have a friend na ganito ang work nya.
