@roxyhart, long term investor din ako :) I need to wait for my salary bago ako makapag top up, sana hindi pa masyadong mataas ang shares by then hehe

PSEi down significantly largely due to contagion, not fundamentals. Mentally prepare to buy when conditions stabilize.

To the experts, anong wave are we in?

I'm in the stock market as a super long term investor--- greens man or reds, i wont be touching the money i placed there anymore for a long horizon, maybe 10 years. Kunyari nalang wala siya and i'll have to survive on my liquid assets :p Kakalimutan ko na muna siya, im sure in the end it would be worth it. Pero parang year on year i noticed paliit na ng paliit yung earnings. It would pay to keep a watchful eye on when we're entering a bear market para makapagdagdag. Question is... are we there yet?

Going down lang yung equity investment ko 😰
Will start buying stocks pa lang and it's good to enter low but I'm worried about the market as in impact to the country😔

^^hahaha! I can relate. But still, at the back of my mind, malungkot makita na red yung portfolio ko.

our portfolio is red too ;D what can we do, have to grin and bear it

we're itching to buy but hubby wants to wait then buy at the lowest point... sabi ko, medyo hard to predict when it will be at its lowest but I'll keep reading and watching.

Haha, biglang long-term investors tayong lahat :)

At 6,600 today (6,800 support did not hold), the Elliott Wave we are in now is Wave IV. Downward waves ABC should follow, with target range at 6500 then 5700. If there will be a bounce back to 6,800-7,200, it will be an opportunity to sell and/or to raise cash for when things start bottoming.

Locally, we are actually okay (like what April Tan said). OFW remittances still okay, our growing economy benefits from low oil prices, and remember, presidential elections are still coming up. So that means the government will be spending. However, we are not an island and we are affected by global issues. And no matter how much our big market players (SSS and GSIS most recently) inject into the stock market, they are still small fish compared to foreign funds who have been selling since April/May.

Did you gals receive the newest COLing the Shots? It's got some valuable insights on what to do in this major correction/start of bear market.

1. Make decisions based on what you see and not what you think. Meaning, if everything is going down, logically you should cut loss and sell. Don't rationalize and say that your stocks are still fundamentally sound, business is still okay, and etc.
2. Raise cash.
3. Do cost-averaging instead of lump-sum investing.

For the last point though, John Magun has an interesting insight on why cost-averaging is NOT an investment strategy: http://www.businessmirror.com.ph/cost-averaging-is-not-an-investment-strategy/

TL;DR: Cost-averaging makes sense if you do it for professionally managed funds, but NOT for individual stocks. Individual stocks behave differently.

^^According to John Magun's article, yes, okay for managed funds. But basically, what he's saying in his article is you should learn when to take profit and when to cut loss when it comes to individual stocks. Hindi yung blindly investing like what is done in cost-averaging.

Sa mga long term investors dito, how long it is when you say long? 1 year? 5 years? 20 years??

I try to keep mine for 10 years, not sure if it's good though. :'(

PSEI fought to stay within 6785. Fighting hard to keep the support at 6800, I suppose. Closed at 6846. Tuesday pa lang. Let's see where this week ends.  8)

Long-term investor here (dati hindi, but I changed my mind, tee hee!).
But I am still human and I still get worried with red.  :P
