Diversify.. Don't put all your funds in one bank. Nasa to do list ko ito even if I love BPI.

It's not automatic 50% but yes, they can freeze funds until you pay up estate taxes. Computation depends on total estate worth.

^^Thanks sa input sis, sa bpi din savings namin..i was planning to open another account kasi but i read na max of 500k nga lang per depositor, kahit different deposit accounts pa, so better na another bank na lang para safe..

^^^wow katakot naman yan, 50% na lang? Nangyari sa acct ng mom ko when she died, nafreeze ng bank before pa namin mawithdraw, nabanggit kasi ng bro ko na she passed away so ayun nafreeze nila agad ambilis, we were trying to withdraw sa atm kasi..andaming hinihingi ng bank ha, kaasar lang

We used to pool our money and take it from there pero right now, what we do is try to live on my husband's salary alone. My salary goes straight to savings. So far, so good. I am looking into investing on stocks pero baka next year or in 2 years.

Dati madali kami makaipon kasi derecho sa savings namin ni hubby lahat sa sweldo ko tas sweldo nya lang ginagastos namin for all our expenses. Then some years ago, we decided to invest all of our savings sa business tas nagloan din kami. Mula noon napakaliit nalang ng naiipon namin around 5% of our total income lang. Pero this coming May matatapos na kami sa loan so makakapag save na ulit kami ng malaki laki.

we pool everything tapos tanggal lahat ng expenses, insurance premiums at yung monthly top up for our mutual fund. aside from our mutual fund, di namin ginagalaw halos lahat ng bonus. diretso agad sa savings. for the 1st year of our marriage nakaipon kami ng more than 200k.

Daming ideas dito, thank you for sharing. We are newlyweds and ako personally kelangan ko talaga ng guidance for finances kasi aaminin ko hindi ako magaling maghawak ng pera. Hehe. Mas marunong maghawak husband ko.

Anyway, our initial plan then was to live off of single income lang din -- his, and then my income would be for savings. But because I'm pregnant right now medyo nabago. Ngayon, car mortgage + monthly allowance namin and groceries, sa kanya galing. My income is for baby fund and house rent and utilities. Remaining amount sa both incomes namin, emergency fund. Medyo mahirap ngayon kasi we're just starting and admittedly medyo marami talagang gastos.

noong newly married kami ganyan din, income ko sa savings, income ni hubby sa expenses.

but now, both salaries namin go to savings, pero kanya kanyang banck account.
50% of business income goes to joint savings account, the other 50% yun ang expenses. ;)

I'm glad I assigned the budgeting to hubby. He is so precise and strict with our savings and expenses. I can say this is the time where every dollar counts because we are trying to hit the figures with a very limited time. He uses excel pa to manage our finances. I learned how to avoid unnecessary spending too. Iba talaga when you are working towards a similar goal. In our case, we are saving money for our first home and looking at having it built starting August this year. I am excited and nervous at the same time!

Nice topic here. Sa amin naman we have joint account. Both of us are working abroad. Medyo mahirap ang budgetting dito dahil sa taas ng cost of living. Actually, almost wala kaming naiipon to think na abroad pa kami. Ang pinaka ipon namin ngayon is yung bahay na hinuhulugan namin. Medyo mabigat. We also have priorities both sides with our parents. Mahirap dahil super expect sila samin dahil nga abroad.

HI.. more than one year na kaming kasal ni hubby... ako lang ang nagwowork sa ngayon kasi ipagpapatuloy nya ang work nya.. naubos din lahat ng savings namin dahil nanganak ako at sa needs ng son ko  :( ... ang ginawa ko ay I cancelled my purchase of the house and refund it.. so starting next month I will have our savings back na.. kasi I will joined na sa coop dito sa office and sa coop where my mom belongs.. ang laki kasi ng dividend nila grabe.. as in more than 10% every year.. Then I will save ulit sa bank.. :) Hope my plans will work...

naku i need this topic.
mejo malaki na ang savings namin ni hubby dati tapos nagdecide kami na iinvest sa condo unit, just right across my office and 4km away from his. sobrang convinient for us para hindi na kami magrent and ma-hassle sa commute. we chose to invest sa condo dahil only child ako and my parents have their own house and lot sa bulacan. well, i think sakin din naman yung mapupunta lol!
so right now, sakto lang yung total income namin sa amortization, daily allowance, expenses sa bahay at monthly dates (hihi). yung pag save namin ngayon as in konti lang compare dati na halos 30% of our sahod ay savings na. nagttry parin kami magsave kahit konti para incase maging preggy na ako, somewhat handa kami for the baby.

We have joint account at dun napupunta savings namin. it is always 20% for savings then 10% sa tithes. The rest are for our daily expenses, mortgage, etc. Sa savings naman, 50% goes to investments. Really looking forward to make it 30%. Thinking of renting our current house and move to the smaller house na kinuha namin sa pag-ibig.

Pag walang budget wala wag na ituloy or better build a fund. Meron din ako garapon and envelope.

My husband and I don't have a joint account because when we got married, I just moved into his place. Currently, he takes care of the mortgage and bills, I pay for the groceries. I also got life insurance for us both so I'm paying for premiums. I've set up automatic contributions for the both of us to go into retirement investments/savings. We save 25% each of our monthly paychecks.

I think our setup will change once we upgrade to a bigger place. I like the idea of having a joint account which both our salaries will feed into and have everything (mortgage, bills, etc.) deducted from there. Then set up automatic contributions to both our retirement/savings accounts. Once we've set all that up, we can determine how much "leisure" money we can get as our monthly allowance from the joint account :)
