^ you have to follow the minimum initial contribution and monthly contribution depending on the fund you plan to invest in. there's a yearly management fee for each fund, the % depends on which fund you choose. then the other fee is the early redemption fee if you don't hold it for the minimum holding period.

if you want to know more, you can check out the FAQ section. ^

3.   Management fee

Management fee or advisory fee is the compensation given to the investment manager of a mutual fund. This fee is based on the total value of assets under management of a fund. This fee is imputed already as part of the NAVPS and is not reflected in any statement or receipt.

Aside from these costs, investors must keep in mind that mutual funds, like other businesses, also incur operating expenses such as brokers commissions, taxes and licenses fees, custodian and clearing fees, directors fees, and other expenses. These operating expenses reduce the overall net asset value of a mutual fund so investors essentially pay for them.

yan ang nakalagay sa Mutual Fund nila.
magkano exactly yung:

brokers commissions
taxes
licenses fees
custodian and clearing fees
directors fees

each fund will have financial statements, they usually produce this annually...however, for those listed on the pse, i believe they also give quarterly financial statements...if you go to the statement of comprehensive income/statement of profit or loss, you will find how much are the operating fees incurred by the fund for the year...these are not fees that you pay up-front but are operating expenses incurred by the fund...that's why they say, these expenses reduce the net asset value per share (NAVPS) of the fund.

i'm also investing in mutual funds and i'm planning to do so as a long-term investment for myself and my husband. of course, the bigger the amount you put in, the higher your return - God-willing that the fund continues to thrive in the next 25-30 years.

Update: Ba't ganun not available for trading pa daw si ALFM Growth Fund.  ::)

Click on "Fund Code"
Under "Display Type" It defaults to "Suitable" Go Ahead and Click on "All"
Now you can select from all of the funds offered by COL

You're welcome!

As for your other question. ALFM Growth Fund has ran out of shares.
They're still awaiting approval from SEC to increase the shares.

Check out this link: http://www.alfmmutualfunds.com/news

Please be advised that the ALFM Growth Fund, Inc. has reached its Authorized Capital Stock (ACS).  Thus, effective October 21, 2014, no further subscriptions of ALFM Growth Fund, Inc. shares are allowed until the SEC has issued the approval for the increase in additional ACS. Redemptions, however, are still allowed during the temporary closure.
Please note that this is the Fund's 4th increase in Authorized Capital Stock, following the latest increase approved only last October 2013.

Once the increase has been approved, we will notify you immediately, and ALFM Growth Fund, Inc. will resume accepting additional subscriptions.

Thank you very much.

I've been reading on investments and recently opened an account with COL. I attended the free seminars offered by COL last month. I attended 4 seminars, the Fundamental and Technical Analysis, Online Trading Power with COL and Investing in the Stock Market Today. I even filed for leave just to attend the seminars because I really want to learn. For newbies like me, if you have the time, register na kayo sa seminars nila. It will help you tremendously.

I'm still contemplating ig I should also sign up with Bo's TRC. Quite honestly, his advices also come from COL so why pay for something I get for free just by being a COL client? What I'm after are the the positive 'talks' included with the membership, pampa good vibes araw araw. Super undecided pa ko dito.

I have CEB and MBT in my portfolio, I'm keeping my eye on JFC next. :D

^Hindi kaya i-summarize yung seminar eh very complex especially sa Fundamental and Technical Analysis. They also have a seminar where they will teach you how to navigate the COL website so you can fully utilize everything they have there. If you guys can find the time, I'd suggest that you attend kasi ang dami mo talagang matutunan.

hi, happynlove, no, i don't see recommendations for mf at the moment but the mutual fund platform is very comprehensive. it will show you the fund's performance from its inception to date. it will also show you who the fund manager is and how long the fund manager has been working for the fund as well as the age of the fund and other details like minimum initial investment, minimum additional investment, other direct fees, etc.
