Hi ladies. Hope you can help me. I've been enrolled in COL since last year but I don't think I maximize it mostly because I can't understand the terms! I bought shares from some companies like AC and JFC pero I still have funds left and I want to learn more bago ako bumili ng iba.  Paano ba mag analyze ng stocks? What should I watch out for? What should I learn? Paano nyo nasasabi na ang laki ng tinaaas or binaba ng isang particular stock aside from green or red? Without the green or red hindi ko malalaman na naggain or nag lose na pala ako. Haha. Yung nakikita kong guides usually 'how to buy stocks'. That much I know na. Nakapag sign up na rin ako sa seminar ng COL on April 28 pero ang tagal pa non. Hope you can help me. Thanks!

^If all you bought was AC and JFC last year, then you must have really good gains this year :)

For beginners, it's good to start with companies that grow when the economy grows, like food/consumer, housing/property, and infrastructure. That's really all you should look for in a company, and if you can't be bothered with following the movements of the market, that's really all you need to know.

Some of the best long-term investors only look at their portfolios once a month or even less. Peter Lynch, who is among the best investors I mentioned, famously said, "If you spend more than 13 minutes analyzing economic and market forecasts, you've wasted 10 minutes."

What funds and most people use as the benchmark for their equity investments is the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi). Check out the chart here: http://www.bloomberg.com/quote/PCOMP:IND. Year-to-date (Jan. 5, 2015 to March 28, 2015), the PSEi has returned 9.78%, and from exactly last year (March 28, 2014), has gained 26.30%. If your gains are somewhere along those figures or even better, then you're on the right track.

Thanks so much sis! Actually, as per my portfolio, I made the biggest gain on DD. Hehe.

Another thing I want to know is, what do you look for when you want to know the " health" of a company? When I was buying stocks, I relied mostly on COL's stock picks and recommendations from friends.  Gusto ko matuto, paano ba mag basa ng stocks without relying on suggestions? Kumbaga I want to make my own conclusions about my stocks. When you say certain stocks are consolidating, what does that mean? Pag sinabi bang FV is 10, and current price is 5, does that mean it's a good time to buy? Para ba syang buy below price? Lol sorry daming tanong. I have a lot of time on my hands now to study these things so gusto ko lang talaga aralin.

^Sa totoo lang, I don't really look for anything. What I use is gut feel. Haha.

The market is total chaos. Look at CPG -- beautiful buildings, huge potential for recurring income, Paris Hilton endorser, but where is its stock price? The market doesn't like CPG. Maybe because the market doesn't like its narcissistic owner? I don't know.

SMC is another example. Diversified, invested in everywhere including consumer, telco, oil, but it's not well-loved.

DD, as you know, is a whole different story. All that was needed was the name of Jollibee's Tony Tan Caktiong to push its stock price from 2 to 10. Partida wala pang nakatayo  na building yan ha.

IS, a super basura play in late 2014, had absolutely no income, no story, no assets, no nothing. All it was going on was rumors. But how far did rumors take it? From 0.047 to 0.82, or an unbelievable 1645% return in just under 3 months.

Fundamental analysis and technical analysis -- they help, but sometimes, all you gotta do is just go where the market goes. Listen. Go with the flow. We're really all just little fish anyway in a sea of big fund players and market movers.

Hi sis nathanielle, I'm in the same boat as you so I can relate. Ako nga I signed up and bought my first ever stocks from COL just last week. Because I don't fully understand the technical terms, I just went with gut feel. Awa ng Dyos pula buong portfolio ko ngayon. Lol. But then I'm still hoping they will pick up so I'm keeping them, and will probably just add more funds in the future.

I think it makes sense to study fundamental analysis, if you have time. But like ikaela said, use your gut feel.   And just read a  lot I guess. The stocks thread here is helpful.

Question, in the investment guide of COL, are those blue chip companies? What about other stocks, like X? Saan makikita kung buy or sell or hold?

Same with ikaela - I go with gut feel haha. My portfolio includes BDO, ALI and JFC. All blue chips. We are also patrons of these companies.

Mga sis, question. Pag nag sell ba ko ng stocks at a high price. then hindi agad nabenta, since low ang market, then kinancel ko yung sell, mababawas ba agad yung charges dun? kahit kinansel ko?

I enrolled in COL's EIP. It was supposed to start yesterday. Pero when I checked my balance, nandun pa rin yung funds na I allotted for the EIP. Is that normal? When would it reflect the EIP? Thanks!

^ Sis m_lim,

That's where joining the truly rich club by Bo Sanchez helped me. Meron na kasi sila list of recommendations and explanation as to why them. Maganda for beginners.
