Online English Teachers' Salary Range

Hello to all Online English teachers out there! I just want to know how much you are earning monthly and so far, are your incomes stable or not? I, myself, am an online ESL teacher. Sometimes kasi nakaka discourage whenever other people ask for what kind of job I do and every time I say, Online English tutor at home-based, mapapa "Ay, so asa bahay ka lang buti at nakakaya mong magbayad ng bills buwan buwan"

So, I wanna know how much other online teachers here are earning so I can be motivated to work longer hours. Siguro naman hindi masyadong malayo sahod natin sa ibang jobs out there right?

Bizmates offers a startin salary of 160 per hour. i think it's higher than most call center jobs out there plus you dont get to be shouted and cursed on by Americans.

Hi. Online English teacher ako for the past 6 years. It all boils down kung ilang hours ka willing mag work. Sa current company ko 155 hr max ko plus 300 php incentive for attendance. I have to work for more than 300 hours monthly para malaki talaga ang kita. Sobrang haggard haha.

Based sa isang thread on online English teaching, rates range from around PhP100 per hour to something like PhP 160.  But i think that's really way too low.  If you get an ESL teaching job in foreign companies, minimum pay is $10-12 per hour. No tax pa. Yun lang, kailangan ma-establish po talaga ng ESL teachers yung credibility, i.e. kailangan may credentials na related to ESL teaching.  Much better po if you can find direct clients from non-English speaking countries like Korea, China and Japan.  You can dictate your rate based on your competence and experience.

Paano mag-apply dyan, sis eekai?

Mga sis ano anong website ang marecommend nyo na okay applyan. I'm sure marami ako mahahanap sa google pero siguro mas okay yung may naka try na talaga hehe.

May particular course ba na dapat grauate ka or kahit saang field ka galing pwede naman mag apply?

Lastly, sa mga newbies, ang minimum hourly rate ba is Php 100 or mas lower pa dito sa mga first timers magoonline tutor? TIA sa sasagot.

Monthly? It shouldn’t be less than 20-25k, if you’re part of a company (as opposed to teaching online independently). Leave or don’t accept any online teaching jobs that can’t promise you that range.

^ online companies (mostly asian owned) will promise you the moon and the stars to get you on board.  truth is they have a lot of teachers,but the turnover is high due to inconsistent scheduling of students and lack of communication and organization from the companies themselves.

the best way to get the most income out of esl teaching is to land yourself a teaching gig that pays at least 8 usd per hour.  anything less is just disappointing.

What are the requirements to be an Online Teacher?

^ For starters, an internationally competent degree of English oral and written communication skills (C1-C2 if you are familiar with the IELTS or the CEFR). You must have native-approximate language proficiency, meaning you sound extremely passable for American, as simply speaking in English?gasp, Philippine English?will not get your foot in the door. If it?s an online job, you don?t really need classroom teaching experience, or any of the basic certifications such as TEFL or CELTA, but having those really, really raises your chances of standing out and being hired. I would also recommend that you upgrade all your wares (ISP speed, a sturdy headset with noise-cancelling features, a non-grainy webcam, etc.) and keep them in optimum condition because you are facilitating lessons on a purely virtual classroom and any technical screw-up is tantamount to a matter of life and death. I don?t mean to sound negative, but for non-native English speakers like us, the odds are rarely in our favor. This is not to discourage you, but to urge you to be more competitive and do everything in your power to show that we are worthy of being qualified English teachers too.

hi mga sis, pwede ka bang magfile ng leave in case na online english teacher ka? let's say you're going to be on Vacation for 2 weeks. can you not open slots?

i'm currently applying sa Bizmates, i passed the english exam na and the interview and now going through the mentoring process before the final demo. just curious lang if ever na possible bang magleave and can you cancel classes?

^sis with Bizmates if more than a week ka hindi makakacomplete ng at least 10 hours, you have to file a leave of absence (unpaid). Iindicate mo lang dun kung kelan ka hindi makakapag open ng slots.

Re: cancellation, yes pwede, sa pagkatanda ko until 15 minutes before your booked class pwede ka magcancel. But of course that can affect your KPI score, may negative points yun sayo and may corresponding monetary deduction pag sumobra ka sa allowed negative points.

Sa experience ko (around feb-march last year), madaming students sa bizmates, almost always booked lahat ng slots ko kahit first week ko pa lang, whether sa AM or PM sched. Not sure if ganun pa rin ngayon ah. Siguro kung may di man mabook eh isa lang in one day (out of 6 open slots).
