No Prenup
« on: February 21, 2015, 09:23:07 am »
hi sissies! im considering not having a prenup for our wedding. it may be a horror for some, i know. but h2b and I are not really into this, napipilitan lang kami because its already becoming a huge (and expensive) part of wedding traditions. has anyone here skipped the prenup pictorial? saan nga ba ginagamit ang prenup photos and will we be missing a lot if we dont have this? please let me know your thoughts :)

side note: prenup is already included in our photog package, but i think i can ask him to remove this if ever we decide not to have the prenup.

For keepsake purposes sis, you look back and realise that somehow you guys became cheesy. :) -kidding.
The real purpose of prenup is to make you feel at ease with each other in front of the camera. Para you won't look awkward sa wedding photos kase comfy na kayo in terms of posing.

prenup video you can do away with but prenup photo for me is important para lang to preserve yung moment at mabalikan niyon ni h2b yung time na ganun :)

Cont: We had 2 prenup photo shoot sessions. First one is overseas, and another one in Manila with our official wedding photographer.. and it was really a tiring but enjoyable experience.  :) we are more comfortable in front of the camera during the 2nd prenup. Photographers were amazed how my hubby managed to do the poses easily. Usually kase sa groom medyo nahihirapan. At least on the wedding itself, it will be easier on both sides. :) Pero I have read somewhere here before that some couples are not really into it talaga. Ok lang din naman yon. :)

it really depends on the couple whether they'll have a prenup pictorial or not...it's not a requirement for a wedding so if you want to skip it for whatever reason then you can...it is nice to have some memories captured for posterity and to show your kids and grandkids though :-)

If you're not going to use the output for anything, do away with it.

Additional gastos siya talaga and just a nice to have.

And masaya din pala mag prenup.

Nasa inyo naman if you want it eh.

Having a prenup depends talaga sa couple, for us kasi kahit sa travels namin ni h2b parang nag-pprenup na rin kami. Mahilig din kasi ako sa pictures so its a must sa akin ang prenup pictorial. And sabi nga ng other sissies natin dito, you'll be prepared din para sa wedding day lalo na kung same photographer lang din kukunin niyo for prenup and wedding. Wala ng awkward poses, walang sayang na shots. Tsaka makikita niyo rin how well you and your photographer work together. :)

We're also doing away with prenup. Ayaw lang talaga namin mag spend ng money for that and mapublish ang cheesy pics namin sa social media haha

Pero yung hobbyist photog friends namin gustung-gusto kami ishoot sa Bohol beach this May. Sabi namin di namim sila babayaran and ok lang sa kanila na libre, so why not :) we also told them not to upload the pics without our go signal, and they agreed.

Nasa inyo naman talaga if gusto or ayaw and for me wala naman talaga mamimiss kung wala. Kanya kanyang preference lang din talaga.

Just to share we had 3 prenups. One in our fave beach destination (Super gastos), one here in Manila (yung gusto ko talagang concept) and one yung nanalo kame sa isang pacontest ng isang stylist. I joined kasi very simple lang naman ang contest you just need to send in couple photos then from there pipili, nothing more. And I can say kahit may freenup dito magastos parin yun kasi ofcourse yung damet, food and venue magbabayad ka parin. And syempre yung other 2 prenups mas magastos, but  1 year na kameng kasal pero most of the time babalik balikan namin pics at tatawa ng tatawa lalo na sa mga raw pics/behind the scenes na kenkoy talaga. This is just us ha, anyway nasasainyo parin talaga :)

I didn't have a prenup either. Not officially. Since I'm a freelance photographer, we did the prenup by ourselves lang, with tripods (we needed photos para sa wedding page and invitation namin). It wasn't exactly ideal (napagod ako kakatakbo from the camera to the posing in front of it), and to be honest, looking back, tama si hubby eh: hindi naman necessary yung prenup sa wedding. You can do without it. In my opinion, the wedding industry has ballooned in such a way that suppliers are shoving products and services and touting them as necessary, when in fact, they're not. But that's my opinion.

If you and your hubby are not comfortable in front of the camera, and don't really need prenup photos for anything, then don't. You can use the money elsewhere like the catering.

But on the side of prenups, it's actually for you and your hubby to be more comfortable with the photographer. Speaking from a photographer's standpoint, less awkward kasi yung kalalabasan ng wedding pictures pag meron na kayong rapport beforehand with your wedding photographer, and the prenup is the best way to do it.

We had a portrait shoot a few years ago with an awesome photographer -- no concept or styling or professional makeup, just cool pictures of us hanging out in our favourite spots. I know our wedding pictures will be fantastic but I'm really happy to have great "normal" photos of us too :)

Because we have these pictures na we're skipping a full prenup session, but I do think it's really valuable to get comfortable with your photographer before the wedding day. We hired our photographer to cover our welcome dinner as well as the wedding, so she's taking a few pictures of us beforehand as a practice run. Hehe.

We didn't have a prenup either. It's just not our thing. Besides, if ever we need memories we can 'look back on' we have enough photos of ourselves and those aren't 'staged.'  We also didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable with our photographer come wedding day. If your photographer's really good, you won't feel 'ilang.' You'll be too busy being happy on that day to be ilang anyway.  So yeah, I think not having a prenup is perfectly fine.

I would say that try to assess yourselves and your personalities when factoring in the pros and cons. It will all boil down to how you are and what you want as a couple.

In our case, I really want to have an engagement shoot because we don't have that much pictures. Fiance doesn't like taking too much pictures (we only have a couple pictures such as when our families/ friends take pictures of us during gatherings/hang out sessions/out of town trips, but we only have a few when we're out on our own). So for me, I would like to have some really nice photos that we can "look back on". Never mind that it's staged, but I know that we look our best. I told our stylist that I want our shoot to be comfortable, laid back, no costumes, and most importantly, reflect our personalities :)

Count me in. We also don't have pre-nup. H2B is a very private person and it's also not our thing. Instead, we have a wedding animation for us to show something during reception.

My fiance is sort of a hobbyist photographer so we opted to prioritize having a prenup video as it's something we can't do for ourselves. :) Agree it's only a nice-to-have but we really treasure photos and videos so this we picked to splurge on. It got very expensive, parang another SDE ang cost nya din kase may OOT fee, HMUA, transpo, food, and of course the service fee, haha.

We initially agreed to do prenup photos kung may budget pa but because we overspent in other things for now we decided not to have prenup photos anymore. If ever, we'll shoot ourselves nalang din. :)

h2b and I travel a lot so we already have a lot of photos together, pero syempre its not as good as the output of a professional photographer. we wont have guestbook, sign frame, well wishes, etc. so aside from display, hindi ko na maisip kung saan pa namin magagamit ito on the wedding day. walang hilig si h2b magpapicture so siguro dito makakatulong ang prenup, para we can get comfortable posing in front of the camera with our official photog. if solely for this purpose baka hindi na kailangan gastusan ng malaki? still a lot of things to consider. glad we can share thoughts here :)
