so sis if 11 days kami kami pasok namin is narita airport out namin osaka mas ideally ba yun SUICA card samin?.....11 days kami and we are 9pax with seniors..mas ok  ba na mag travel agency nalang kami to arrange?......if kami lang ni hubby wala problem...but hirap kasi if may kasama seniors di ba mga sis?....what can you advise.

^sis sorry I am not that familiar with the JR pass since I live here. Pero depende din kasi yan sa mga pupuntahan mo. kung gagamit kayo bullet train ng malayuan sulit pero kung hindi naman better just get a suica card and charge everytime.  alin ang ipapaarange mo sa travel agency sis? yung suica? I don't think they can do that. Makakabili ka ng suica sa mga information centers ng train stations.

Para sa mga nagtatanong if purchasing the JR Pass is worth it, the answer is... DEPENDE.  I have written a short itinerary (with the train rides you need to take) to make the JR Pass pay off. Take note that JR Pass is not available in Japan. You have to get it elsewhere. Pagdating n'yo doon, kailangan n'yong pumunta sa office ng Japan Railways para makuha at maactivate 'yung pass n'yo.

^during my stay in Japan, I've used Pasmo card. I used it on JR Line, Subway and Seaside line going around Tokyo and Yokohama. Plus you can also use it in vending machine inside train station. Rechargeable card siya, then iniwan ko siya sa bahay namin sa Yokohama. Pagbalik ko dun sa August, recharge ko lang yun then yun na ulit gagamitin ko.

Just got back from our 11 day trip to Japan. It's super fun! Went to Disneyland and Kamogawa Sea World. We stayed mostly sa house and shopping sa nearby places. Super tiring ang lakaran but super worth it. I love the Purikura booths! Nakakalito yung trains pero for us medyo hassle free naman kasi we are accompanied by our tita who speaks Nihongo. Sa Chiba kami nagstay so medyo province type siya and you really need to walk a lot. My sister and I are addicted to the Daiso or hakyen shop, we spend like ¥15000 there but we had to walk 30 mins papunta dun kasi walang ibang means of transpo. Daming great finds talaga. The 7-11 stores are one of the best too! I love the karaage there, almost lahat naman talaga hahaha.

You need to know a couple of Japanese words kasi mostly ng mga hapon di marunong. Eki is station, densha is train, chikai is near, yasui is cheap. So-so ang train fares. Birds there na looks like an uwak are so malaki.

I love everything talaga. I want and will go back soon

usually pag 3 cities pupuntahan which IC card ang worth it ba bilhin ICOCA, PASMO OR SUICA?...if naka buy nako nun 1 of those 3 IC card na namention ko na reloadable so hindi na sympre advisable na magpurchase pako ng JR pass di ba?...take note 11 days po kasi kami from tokyo going to osaka-kyoto  ..hindi napo kami magroundtrip pabalik ng tokyo ...

@darna88: It doesn't matter kung Pasmo, Suica, or ICOCA card ang bilhin ninyo sis kasi same lang essentially ang function niya: transportation!  Now, purchasing a JR pass with or without an ICOCA or Pasmo or Suica is a different story.

Ganito, kapag hindi kayo bumili ng JR Pass (which costs JPY 29,110), ang magagastos per person for your trips would be:
Tokyo to Kyoto (bullet train): JPY 13,910
Kyoto to Osaka: JPY 560 (JR Rapid Service)
Osaka to Kansai International: JPY 2,360
TOTAL: 16,830

With that kind of scenario, hindi talaga masusulit if bumili kayo ng JR pass kahit na most likely magagamit n'yo rin yung pass sa Tokyo (kasi mga JR-trains 'yung usual na sasakayan ninyo doon: kindly google the Yamanote Line).

But, if you're also considering visiting the Himeji Castle, Hiroshima, and Mt. Fuji, ang potential savings ninyo if you decide to get the JR Pass eh medyo malaki. Nasa PhP 8,000 pesos per person. Kindly check your inbox, sis para di ka malito.

sis shygirlme, what do you mean magkano bayad? ang daming attractions around Mt. fuji. Some sisses here opt for the day tour na since maiikot lahat. kung around lang hindi malamig unless umakyat ka.

if rechargeable cards buy either pasmo or suica. mas ginagamit siya everywhere. went to Osaka and Hokkaido both were fine. yung ICOCA kasi parang hindi widely accepted sa Kanto Area. Tama si sis Fittotravel. Icalculate niyo yung train expenses niyo for your whole stay. kung mas malaki without JR pass get JR pass. Try googling hyperdia on how to get from place to place with the expenses.
