Caterer Review : K by Cunanan PART 3

^msdianne Decided ka na sa menu mo? Compare tayo. I'm finalizing mine, sitdown din ako.
This is what im planning so far (though obviously not yet decided on some items...ang hirap na di ko pa natikman):

1) Hors d'oeuvres - Blinis with smoked salmon, Crostini with prawn thermidore, Korean soft tacos OR Chicken on crisp tortilla, arugula and caramelized onions
2) Bread and Dip - Pesto butter
3) Soup - Broccoli and Cheese OR potato and leek OR mushroom with truffle oil (i want the last but the 2nd is safer for most people )
4) Salad - Barbecue chicken salad OR oriental chicken salad
5) Seafood - Salmon with mushroom risotto
6) Sorbet - Raspberry lemon
7) Main Course - Grilled tenderloin, ponzu, truffle butter, onion rings
OR Pepper-crusted tenderloin au jus, grilled root vegetables, truffled mashed potatoes
Desserts - Fresh fruits, Chocolate and hazelnut cannoli, queso de bola cheesecake, crepes with strawberries and bananas, white chocolate cake
9) Beverages - Raspberry iced tea, brewed coffee, tarragon tea

Sa lahat i am most undecided with the desserts. Parang wala akong gana to choose masyado but i just chose the safe ones so far. Does anyone have bad feedback on any of the above? Please do tell me, hehe.

We're also getting the Blinis with Smoked Salmon. Chicken on tortilla is good too.
For soup, parang walang wow factor yung broccoli and cheese for us and i haven't tried the others. Although if you get the mushroom soup, di kaya umay na you have truffle butter or truffle mash with your steak?

Desserts White chocolate cake is a must, I didn't enjoy the Quezo the bola cheesecake but its highly recommended here along with the chocolate and hazelnut cannoli. Not sure about the crepe though. we tried the strawberry and cream cheese crepe but didn't like it. Since its sit down also, maybe you want to consider some of the desserts with ice cream?


Is it true KbyC also have a s'mores bar where you can just bring chocolates, marshmallow and graham?

^sparklingjewel. We don't have final menu yet. We're still going to book this weekend. Probably next year June 2016... 3 months before na finalize.

I'm getting their sitdown. Plus their lechon from Elars, lechon Baka to confirm sa weekend supplier sana Ellie's, cheese and smores bar. Plus drinks Dalandan Basil Granita for welcome drinks apart from the iced tea.

Thanks for the inputs, rightback! Yung sa soup, i guess you're right about not getting the mushroom. I want broccoli pero feeling ko hindi safe (i may have guests who hate veggies hehe) so baka potato nalang Havent tasted it, pero it sounds boring kasi. Haha!

Sa desserts, to be honest i dont care so much about it eh.. i just considered the ones often suggested. I dont want to serve ice cream kasi feeling ko matutunaw if not served agad (i personally hate that, yung may soup na), plus i think the weather will be cold. No feedback pa nga about the crepe, i just decided to include it kasi para maiba..

I think may smores bar nga sila, im just not interested. A lot of my guests iv seen in other weddings and di masyado pinansin yung smores dun.

msdianne Actually thinking about adding lechon kasi my brother wants.. kaso i told him feeling ko over na eh, most people might not even finish a 7-course meal since binusog ko din sila sa cocktails haha

^we have mixed crowds kasi. Some people may not appreciate sit down dinner. That's why I have lechon and lechon Baka. I'm skipping the candy buffet instead cheese station and smores bar lahat yan sa cocktails.

sparkingjewel i totally forgot your wedding will be in tagaytay in december. not a good idea nga for ice cream. the crepe i find it a bit thick so i wasn't a fan. not sure if any of their panna cotta is good.

for the soup we were getting squash. a bit different from the usual squash soup because of the thyme but it might be a bit blah for your overall menu. we liked it better than the broccoli and cheese though. i've seen raves about the paella soup. clam chowder i think bellev2g did not like that one. unfortunately no feedback on the potato and leek.

for the smores bar i'm reconsidering it for cocktails just in case everyone gets bored. we don't have activities e--not even a photobooth. my mom keeps contesting me though that the round of cocktails might be bitin and she's insisting on other stuff like chips and nuts but di ko feel.

Yes smores bar is an option of you don't have photobooth. And entertainment nalang din.

I have different profile ng guest so mahirap sa amin that you have to please each ones taste... Crazy talaga! Cocktails palang bubusugin na namin para walang masabi....

^rightback There were mixed reviews also on the panna cotta. E im only relying on reviews so far. If not crepe.. i dont know, parang wala na nga ako mapili eh..pilit talaga yung 5 desserts sakin. For soup i like squash usually, but ayaw ni fiance nga parang di daw wedding menu (arte haha). I'll request the potato in my final FT para magkaalaman na. I'll update you when we finally have it in a few weeks.

^msdianne I feel that guests will be super hungry when they get to my cocktails kaya yan din strat namin, busugin. But i'l try pa to manage kasi baka naman di na makain yung steak, e yun yung mahal haha. Wala rin ako photobooth gimmick or candy buffet.

Both Squash and Broccoli & cheese soup were served during initial FT, we liked the latter better. I requested Clam chowder for final ft, we didn't liked it either.

Strawberry and cream cheese crepe, no appeal. Sounds yum lang but for the taste, nah.

Mushroom soup with truffle oil. I like mushroom soup so much but i did not request for it because of a review i read here.

With their pana cotta range, i liked the kiwi pana cotta the most. (Though i Did not include this one on our menu) Just make sure guests don't have allergies. (E.g latex allergy).

Baliktad naman sa amin ladies, the 4 of us (fiancé, his dad, mom and myself) liked the strawberry & cream cheese crepe. Out of all the desserts we've tried from them, yun pinaka nag stick sa amin. But of course we haven't tried the white chocolate cake yet, which seems like a blockbuster, so we'll definitely request that during our final FT. ☺

Just sharing, we had the mushroom with truffle oil soup. We didn't like it as it overpowered the soup. The odor of gas can be clearly smelled. Either they used too much truffle shavings, or they used truffle oil na hindi maganda. We didn't get that earthiness that you normally get.

The kiwi panna cotta was also a hit and miss for me. There were 2 who liked it, 1 blah, and one who didn't.  I found it a bit too sour for my taste. For the desserts they've brought us. I don't think that we were floored by any. So it will be difficult  for iur final food tasting as we'll have to ask for more selections para sa 5 desserts.

I asked Ellen kung until when applicable yung discount kasi if I ever I decide to book them, I'll do it sa Nov bridal fair (to get the 5 desserts) and she said na applicable pa din daw yun. Sa Sept 18 pa lag kasi kami mag iinitial food tasting and even though I've been to weddings catered by K by C in the past, ayoko pa din mag commit agad without doing the food tasting just because of the discount.

Booked kbyc na kanina sa fair. 890 per head na yung rate nila pero limited food choices tapos 2 appetizers, soup or salad yung pipiliin. Sayang nga lang kasi wala ang gustong food choices ni h2b sa 890 package but nakasave kami ng bongga hehe. Nakabook pa tuloy kami ng mobile bar dahil sa nasave namin haha

sisses, what can we expect and what are the things that we need to prepare for our initial tasting with k by cunanan?

Pansin ko lang na parang iba iba rates binibigay sa atin. Kasi may nagpost na 850 yung package nila, tapos akin naman ay 890. Diba dapat same lang ang rate?

Thanks so much girls belle_v2g, bonzaigirl, juwie for all the inputs! Mixed reviews talaga yung iba (mushroom soup, crepes) kaya medyo hirap pumili.

Bonzaigirl, hirap na hirap din ako sa desserts. They served us before yung white choco cake (ok lang pero not super impressed) and yung crepe samurai (eto nadiri fiance ko sa itsura plus maasim yung mango sobra). I was hoping my current selection would pan out na but i think i have to remove the crepe again... Sa soup, il have them serve potato and broccoli altho most likely will have to choose potato for safety. Hay, want to get this over with!

By the way, have they allowed anyone to convert the 3 free desserts into hors d'oeuvres nalang since the cost is the same? Parang they do better in the appetizers than in desserts and i think mas ma-appreciate din ng guests ko. My AE hasnt replied. Thanks!
