Preschool: AM or PM Sched?

My daughter will be in Senior Kinder na this coming school year, and we're contemplating if mag-morning sched na ba kami or stay with PM sched. My daughter was in PM sched nung Nursery and now (Junior Kinder). Mas convenient sa amin kasi 1. Di kailangan gumising super early 2. Distance namin from school is about 30-45 minutes, she has a school service naman. 3. Mas sanay sya gumising ng mga 9am ganyan.

But this year, naisip ko if shifting to AM sched (8am) would be advantageous kasi pagtungtong ng Grade 1 talagang morning na sya. I am thinking na it will be good training for her to wake up early, change her nighttime sleeping sched (she sleeps mga 10pm-11pm na eh), and get used to the morning sched para di na sya mahirapan magadjust pagdating ng Grade 1. Ang downside is ang aga sya susunduin ng service kasi by batch sila sinusundo, siguro mga 6- 630 sunduin na sya.

What do you think would be more beneficial, PM or AM?

For me, AM would be better, sis. As you've mentioned, it's a good preparation for grade school. Sa daughter ko naman advantageous siya because she's used to waking up at 6:00 AM since Nursery siya. By the time that she gets home, she's sleepy and tired. Normally, she'd take a nap at 3-4:00 pm then would wake up at 6pm na or sometimes, the next day. By next school year, I don't know if it's the same because we plan to transfer her to a different school.

@sis KVS if for preparation for grade school, better you get the am sched. Same tayo during nursery and now jr. Kinder son ko pm sched sya bu next year for sr. Kinder ill get the morning sched because for grade 1 morning till afternoon na sya. At least masasanay na sya sa ganun na routine.

^when my kids were in pre-school, i opted for PM. Sanay kasi sila (and me hehe) na late magising before, mga 930-10am, so hinayaan ko na lang.
Now they're in primary/grade school na, ayun sanay na sila gumising ng maaga. Siempre at first, nag-adjust sila to wake up early, pero saglit lang naman nakapag-adjust na.
Para sakin kasi, whether kinder or grade school, pareho naman talagang may magiging adjustments.. I let my kids enjoy a few more years na magising ng late. Because once they start na, tuluy tuloy na yun.

thanks sis chicafabulosa and sis  thebratinella! yan din isip ko, yung ma-adjust yung bodyclock nya for the morning sched, para pagdating ng grade school, easy na for her yung early morning routine.

sis ri-anne, same here sanay din ako na mga 8-9am nagigising so I know magiging mahirap talaga yung AM sched. Same kayo ng stand ni hubby, she'll get used to the sched and routine din naman daw pag nag-Grade one na sya. Very good point din naman.

Really have to decide super soon, bilis maubos morning slots sa school nya eh.

I think, maganda rin if you will factor in your daughter's preference. You can ask her kung anong mas preferred nya, lalo na't she could still choose a schedule. Unlike pagtungtong ng grade 1, she has no choice na.

Also, what is the worst thing that could happen kung sa grade 1 sya magstart ng pang-umaga, aside from the adjustment which she will still do should you choose an AM schedule this year? Mawawalan ba sya ng gana sa pag-aaral, something like that?

Kung adjustment lang din kasi, like what ri-anne said, mag-aadjust at mag-aadjust sya kahit this year or next year simulan yung AM schedule. For me it is best to factor in your kid's preference.

i would suggest AM para masanay na..
when my son was in kinder pa, they would start at 8:30 am.
Now that he's in prep, 8:55 dpat nasa school na.. so his dad will take him there mga 8:45 since less than 5 min drive lang ang school from here sanay na rin son ko magising ng maaga.

My daughter is currently in the mid-morning schedule and I choose to retain the same sched for next school year. At first, I wanted to transition her na to early morning para hinde mahirapan sa big school but then mejo mas mahirap kase for us pag morning since she takes the school bus and napaka aga nya masusundo. I also like na pag typhoon season, nalalaman ko kagad if cancelled ang classes even before I prep her.

My kid is a morning person (while I'm not) ;p So, nilagay ko siya sa AM, kasi nasanay na siya sa ganung schedule and automatic siya na pag after lunch nag nanap time, and factor din kasi yung schedule ko as a working mom, since I do the prepping, walking and homework teaching sa bahay

Hi sis, Nursery and Junior Kinder ang baby ko, mid morning siya. Inisiip ko din na gawin na siyang early morning as in 7am this coming school year para sa grade 1 niya, sanay na siya gumising ng maaga.

Afternoon. Nung nursery kid ko pang morning sya at ang daming drama sa pag-gising. Since then ginawa oo na syang PM sched.

When my child was in preschool, I placed her in afternoon classes because:

1. Typhoon/no-class announcements sometimes come in late. If morning, minsan nakaka-stress finding out kung may pasok ba o wala. Minsan ina-announce na walang pasok nasa school na ang mga kids ng morning classes.

2. More time to sleep in the morning. I didn't feel like rushing her into waking up too early kasi very young pa. Hindi naman sya nahirapang mag-adjust to AM sched pagdating ng grade 1 (we had a few months during the summer vacation to slowly transition).

3. Pooping schedule. Morning yung schedule nya, and I didn't want to impose on the teacher aide to wash her up (and I felt more comfortable doing it myself).

4. Transportation logistics. It was more convenient in the afternoon kasi hindi sabay sa morning traffic rush. Shorter travel time.

I prefer AM sched para masanay na kasi when kids enter grade school, classes starts early naman.

Yan din ang dilemma ko sis KVsMommy/Whammy, eversince kasi Mid yung sched ng daughter ko and mahirap talaga siya gisingin sa umaga. Her Pedia suggests that mas maganda kung AM na ang sked because mas mababa ang pollen count in the morning. May allergic rhinitis kasi ang baby ko.

Sa kid ko talaga PM pa rin this school year para no drama or pilitan sa morning.
