At 33, the idea of a dream wedding no longer appeals to me that much, I intially preferred a civil wedding dahil ang reason ko is sayang ang pera, akin na lang hahaha! H2b said no kasi he wanted to give me daw a church wedding. That's a nice gesture from someone who means a lot to me so I agreed.

Sabi ni h2b na as long as makakakuha ako ng suppliers na hindi kamahalan pero super ok, kunin ko daw at kakayanin nya bayaran.

Pero naman! Parang wala na mura these days. Horror story na sa kin noon ang marinig na 400k ang ginastos nila noon tapos ako ngayon lalampas? Huhubels.. Wala talaga akong ka-talent talent sa pag-budget.

Thank you ladies!! Ohhhhh It is such a feeling of relief when I realized for once that I over allocated for something as big as the catering! It really takes away a lot of pressure from my worries about having to keep the guest count low. Although, I really do prefer a small and intimate wedding, but then at least now we have extra leeway just in case we cannot avoid inviting more guests.

Hehe since now we have a bit more budget to work with...

Which do you ladies think will be a better add-on to the wedding: 2 min firework display OR tiffany ghost chair rental for all our tables?

A 2-min fireworks display wouldn't cost that much (yung 5 min with dragon fireworks i couldn't believe na mura lang pala sya) so if you have excess budget, try to get both fireworks and ghost chairs.

i think the package from dragon fireworks starts at 15k. Not so sure. But if its that cheap...go for both.

For the fireworks will it be viewed at your cocktail area? the lounge beside your event hall? i like the vibe of that place

WOW! Dragon Firewords start at 15 k for 2 min? Here is the catch pala. My venue gets Dragon Fireworks also. BUT the venue doesnt allow direct booking with Dragon. The venue's fireworks display is 35k for 2-3min, then 50k for 4-5 min. Laki pala ng patong ng venue!! Hehe and I dont like paying so much more for exactly the same thing, so Ill have to reconsider this pa pala. Siguro Ill only book this if I really free up more budget!!

Sayang... nice pa naman fireworks. My cocktail area will be outside facing a big field with a view of BGC skyline. Then usually daw they set off the fireworks right after cocktails, to signal the start of the formal dinner reception right before our grand entrance daw. Hehhe I dunno though if thats worth 35k though.

Chili, that's great! You must feel a lot better about your styling budget now, hehe. I've seen fireworks at your venue before and I love the way they set it up -- but you're right, it would piss me off to know that I paid for so much patong! lol.

If i remember it right, dragon fireworks charges 15k for a 5min display. So yung 2-3 minutes na 30k plus is malaking patong talaga.

We had 7-mins fireworks display on our wedding.  It was non-negotiable to me so I vote for fireworks..
Pero check mo din kung alin sa package ni Dragon ang kasama sa venue mo.. The basic packages kase of Dragon Fireworks are 15k (1min30sec) and 16.5k (2mins) and those are just simple fireworks with medium caliber effects lang.. Those packages dont have round shells yet.
The packages which have round shells are those starting with 19k (3mins) and above. Btw these rates were the ones given to me by Dragon Fireworks when I inquired way back Dec 2013 So baka mas mataas na ngayon ang rate.. Pero anlaki pa rin ng patong sis chili! 😁
Or is it possible to get other fireworks supplier aside from Dragon Fireworks? I have a list during preps research which I can share to you if you want

Thanks so much for your tip re the different kinds of fireworks haha I should ask the venue pala noh for the details? Papatulan ko pa yun for an 8-10k markup. But 20k is too much. No way talaga papatulan ko yun hehe.

I also emailed Dragon re their updated price list. Unfortuntely the AE of the venue really made it clear that fireworks are only allowed if we book it through them. I guess it's really part of their business to earn from the fireworks display.

H2B doesnt even want fireworks at all. But he kinda paused when I told him we should take advantage of the fact that our venue is one of the very few ones that can do fireworks in Metro Manila.

^Actually, 5-mins lang talaga fireworks display ang package na in-avail namin.. Kaso on the wedding day, biglang last minute na di pinayagan ni venue ang bigger shells namin and those shells na heart-shape etc.. Kase me nasira daw recently sa fireworks area because of bigger shells.. Me ibat ibang sizes din kase yung shells So what our supplier did was they added more standard round shells to compensate for those bigger shells And heart-shaped shells na di pinayagan.. Kaya naging 7-mins na
Yes sis, better check kung anong details ng display package ni venue.. 20k mark-up is too much nga!

Just prayed for you. There are things you cannot change anymore but for sure, some things you can still save on even if you are almost done with wedding preps. You can do it!

its true that brides tend to get carried away, but it is our big day and sometimes, our personality shines better with this set of suppliers rather than the super simple and affordable ones. Quality does usually come with a higher price tag.

Our wedding budget was originally 500k lang kaso ang dami namin hindi nasama na important naman so now nasa 650k na for 150 guests! Sana huwag na kami mag exceed.  :

Hey Chili1113, so sorry to hear about that. From what I understand though, majority of your suppliers are booked and you're pretty much set for your wedding next year. I can only imagine how you're feeling right now but I hope you just trust in that, when you and your fiance agreed on the budget, both of you knew what kinds of tradeoffs you are making/foregoing for your wedding. And also trust in that, when you booked your suppliers, it was because you knew that they will deliver the wedding you have in mind.

On a more low-key affair: Though other weddings (regardless of the couple's personal taste or net worth) may be different from ours, I think the way we visualize and shape our own wedding reflects our own nature. Whilst your friend went for a simpler event, if you've always gunned for a grander celebration then that's you. If you stuck with how you've always wanted your wedding to be, then you shouldn't blame yourself for it.

I hope you get some peace of mind soon dear From what I gather in your other GT posts, I don't think this meeting with your friend would faze you for much longer

^Chili1113 I had sort of the same realization a few days ago, but given that we're both pretty much set already with our suppliers, there's no turning back at this point. Useless na to cry over spilled milk. That being said, don't punish yourself from having a high standard, that is how you were raised and it's not really a crime. You just lived a certain way that happened to hone you to have certain expectations of how you wanted things to be. As you said so yourself, what you're going to spend naman is still well within your means. Im pretty sure you can recoup what you spent for the wedding in like a year max and then just invest later on in the lot. Chin up!

Also, i bet if you kept within a budget of 500k or say 1M, you'd end up disappointed with most of your supplier options, knowing you. As papemelroti said, quality will in most cases, come with a heftier price tag.

Hi Chili1113   I know this line has been said over and over, but a wise man (or woman 😊) once said that things happen for a reason. We may not know it now, but for sure we will know it when the day comes. No need to berate yourself on what cannot be undone.  You have booked your suppliers, and there may be some small bits and bobs  you may need to change if you really  want to scrimp a little. But at the end of the day when your special day comes, I'm sure you and your fiance would be glad that you booked who you booked. 😊😊😊 Hope you'll get out of your rut sooner than expected. Cheer up. But If you're really concerned about the business  venture, then all the more for you to be motivated to work more, so you can easily gain money that was lost. ☺☺☺
