working after giving birth??
« on: February 06, 2015, 05:35:45 pm »
Hi mga sis i need your advices. Im about to give birth na kasi on my first child. Plan namin ni hubby na pahinga lang muna ko for 2-3 weeks then iwan muna namin si baby with my lola kasi im planning to go to work na. I also need to go back to school to finish my studies and eventually makagraduate this coming august. The issue is parang ayaw nung sa side nung sa in laws ko because masyado pa daw maliit si baby para iwan. Which i know na tama din naman. However in the end kami pa dn naman ang magpprovide kay baby ng lahat ng kekelanganin niya and hindi namin pwede iaasa kung kani-kanino. We have a lot of bills to pay including my tuition, allowances, yaya, etc and we also need to save money para makabukod. (We are staying with my in laws in manila, which is di ko masyado kasundo). I want to stick with our plan. Kaya ko tiisin anything including na hindi makasama si baby ng ilang araw for a week (we agreed that we will visit baby every off namin) just to provide lahat ng kelangan niya and for our family na rin. Of course we also need to save for binyag etc and i know hindi kaya lahat ni hubby yun, thats why i wanna help him. Ayoko lang sana na because of this is kwestyunin pagiging nanay ko just because i want to provide anything for our child.

Girls any insights? Tia! :)

Can you delay yung pagwowork mo ng kahit 2-3 months na parang nag maternity leave from work? I used-to-be weekend parent and I believe crucial to bond with your baby at least during the first couple of months nya.

To tell you honestly isa sa biggest regret ko na naging weekend parent ako sa panganay ko. If I could do it over again I will do it differently but here's my take on this. If it works for your family keber sa sasabihin ng iba.

^^ i don't think i can sis, kasi hindi talaga kakayanin ng sweldo ni hubby yung gastos especially i'll be going back to school din. Masyadong malaki ang expenses. Ayoko naman na umasa sa mom ko,super nakakahiya na and gustong gusto ko na din na makabukod kami ni hubby and sama na namin si baby kapag nakaipon kami (target namin is november lumipat). Why sis mo pinagsisihan ang pagiging weekend mom?

To each his/her own. Kung ikaw talaga yung tipong kakayaning malayo sa anak nang ganoon kaliit, so be it.

well i don't see anything wrong here given yung situation ni TS. at least may plan talaga kayo bumukod at makuha naman si baby and for you to finish your studies, though malaki talaga yung sacrifice. not everyone can afford na maging sahm especially magastos mabuhay at bumuhay ngayon. ang importante naman kilala niyo yung pag iiwanan niyo sa baby which is yung lola mo and you well know na madidisiplina naman at mapapalaki ng maayos ang bata. kelangan lang mapuno nag pagmamahal :)

Pero gaya ng sabi ko naman, if it works for your family go for it. It worked for us at that time.

Thank you mga sis. (i'll soon give birth in 2 weeks, planning to go to work by march). But all i want is to provide all the things that he needs. if i need to sacrifice the first six months na mawalay sa kanya and eventually maging stable kami financially para lang mabigay sa kanya lahat i would.

^Having given birth myself and being a full time working mom, I can honestly tell you na there is a reason why the maternity leave duration is typically 2 months. For the first month, your body needs to adjust and recuperate, and at the same time you have your child to look after. Are you intending to breastfeed or breastfeed only for 2-3 weeks? It means that you'll have to either pump and dump or just take medicines to suppress milk. I can tell you that it is super uncomfortable if your breasts become engorged, and you don't pump. Plus nakakapang hinayang that you pump and tatapon lang. If you happen to have c-section - I think you'll need more time to recover, and you stand a chance of incurring more costs kung magkasakit ka, bumuka ang tahi mo, or magkasakit si baby.

I can totally understand and have so much respect for you in that you are willing to make sacrifices for your future, pero you've got to be realistic and fair to your child as well. I had all these great plans of cutting my maternity leave short and resume my traveling quickly after I gave birth - all these plans went out of the window when my son was born. When he arrived, everything became all about him - and my wants and grand plans were all put in last priority.

I think you want an assurance that you are doing the 'right thing'. Sis, you don't have to defend yourself to the people around you. Do what's best for your family though I certainly agree with sis Priceless. Lay out your plan now but be realistic and set a plan b kasi posibleng mag-iba ang disposisyon mo once dumating na si baby.

Kamusta na kaya si TS? AFAIK hinde pa pwede magwork less than two months manganak. Ako nga noon nakunan, but I was not allowed to go back agad parang sa nanganak. Our body needs to adjust at mahirap mabinat. Kelangan may fit to work pa at ibibigay yun pag 2 months ka na nanganak unless nagapply ka at Hindi mo sinabi na nanganak ka. Well, marami naman moms na nagwowork talaga after giving birth. It is up to you. I used to work but since I have a little boy, I opted to be with him muna. Every milestone of him is a treasure to me.

Pano ginawa nyo sis pag after 2 month pupunta na sa work.

sa totoo lang I envy those moms who can afford not to go back to work after giving birth because they will have more time to take care of their newly borns. in my case, i had no choice but to go back to work after 3 months because hubby got laid off.  :( to make matters worse i got mild PPD. These are probably the factors why my milk supply lessen.

Sis, advice ko lang you should take a rest atleast 2-3 months para makarecover ang katawan mo. ;)

Ako mga sis I was only able to rest for 2 months and then I flew back to SG to work na. Tapos During the whole year every three months ako umuuwi. But now since tapos na ang binyag and first birthday Thank God makakapag-ipon na kami ulet. Mahirap pero ganon talaga.. Need to save until the time na magkamalay na ang baby ko .. God willing sana nandoon na ang mommy and daddy sa tabi nya by then.
