how to prevent cats from pooping on my yard

Hello mga sis!

Nakakapagod na maglinis ng front yard. Araw araw nalang may poop ng cat ng kapitbahay sa gilid pa ng front door namin. Nililinis ko araw araw binubuhusan ko n tubig na may sabon, nilagyan ko ng picture ng aso baka sakaling matakot! Wala padin!

Naglatag pa ko ng plywood wala padin dun naman siya nagpoop sa walang plywood.

Nakakainis na talaga eh. anyone with the same experience? Anong ginawa niyo?

sis I bought Lavender plant. Napansin ko di na pumapasok yung stray cats sa property namin. I googled to verify my suspicion, it's because of the lavender. There are other plants, mostly herbs, that repel cats. Apparently hindi nila gusto ang plants na may malakas na scents.

I bought the lavender plant in Baguio. Try mo sa Tagaytay or Centris baka meron.

- Either you keep a real dog, or
- Talk to your kapitbahay na magawan ng paraan yung pagpoop ng cat NILA. Sila dapat ang gumawa ng paraan kasi alaga nila yun e.

^you are aware that there is an Animal Welfare Act, right?

@aicute12, talk to your neighbor who owns the cat and tell her the problem. If he/she is a responsible pet owner they will do something about this. In the meantime, placing strong-odor plants is a good idea. Cats don't like strong scents like citrus.

Naku nakakaloka wapakels ang kapitbahay mga sis! ambaho pa naman tas alam niyo na nilalangaw. Kanina nga paglabas ko ng bahay e papasok na naman siya samin binugaw ko nalang!

Hindi talaga tumalab yung picture ng aso na nilagay ko hehe hindi natakot!

Try ko nga buy ng lavander! nabasa ko nga ayaw ng cats ng amoy ng napthalene balls. Totoo kaya yun? (e hindi naman sila ipis! hehe)

Try vinegar, spray mo sa area na possible sya mag poop. They don't like the smell of vinegar kasi.

Cats are very clean kaya usually kung saan malinis, mas dun nila prefer mag poop. I have a foster cat, if his litter box is not clean, he will not poop/pee and won't stop meowing until I clean his littler box.

Aside from Lavender, we have Tarragon and Basil plant. I guess the combination of the smell those three plants drive the stray cats away

Mahangin nga sis lalo na sa gabi samin sa cavite. Ang problema, ambaho ng simoy ng hangin samin.

Have you tried taking this to a barangay official?  Kasi if nakausap mo na yung neighbor mo and aware na sila na dumudumi yung cat nila sa property mo tapos wala pa rin silang pakialam, then maybe it's time you took this to your local authorities.  Responsibility ng neighbor mo yung cat na yan e since kanila yan, so kung magkalat man yung cat, mag-damage ng property/person or mag-cause ng inconvenience e sagutin yan ng neighbors mo.  If they cannot take responsibility for the cat, then they should not have it as a pet.

Dapat sila ang naglilinis ng dumi na iniiwan ng cat imbis na ikaw.  That's the least they could do as decent people, mahiya naman sila.  If they're not willing to do that, then gumawa sila ng paraan para iconfine yung cat inside their house or within the boundaries of their property.

Pareho tayo sis ng problema ang mabahong poop ng pusa.

Merong pusang naligaw dito sa bahay namin, dahil gustong gusto siya ng anak ko napilitan kaming ampunin.

Natutuwa naman ako ng una kasi halos maubos ang lahat ng daga sa bahay.  Kalaunan naiinis na rin ako dahil hindi ko makayanan ang mabahong pupu niya.  Sa ngayon wala pa akong maisip na paraan kung paano ko tuturuan wag dumumi sa loob ng bahay.

^provide a kitty litter box inside your house (and clean it often). I have 18 indoor cats and 1 outdoor cat and I am proud to say na hindi nangangamoy ang bahay namin. People who come to my house are often surprised to learn we have a lot of cats since hindi daw nangangamoy panghi or baho bahay namin. OC kasi kami sa paglinis.

Absent ako ng ilang araw sa gt at may trangkaso ako hanggang ngayon. Ang nakakabadtrip pa nun, pag open ko ng door, napakabaho lalong sumakit ang ulo kp dahil 5 tumpok ng poop ang dinakot ko.

kanina naisip ko ng bumili ng moth balls. kaso ayoko naman makapatay ng pusa!

ok, since everyone here is pretty much against cat killing i got another idea, get a dog and let it loose - besides, its fun to watch dogs chasing cats - even better when they catch up and you see them chewing on the cat's head. That should send a message to the owners.

^Once again I ask you, are you aware of the Animal Welfare Act? If you're trying to be funny, it's not.   

@aicute12, I admire you for your resolve to not hurt animals. As what has been suggested earlier, try to talk to your neighbors first and let them know the problem you're having with their cat. If they really care about their cat gagawa sila ng paraan. Kung hindi sila receptive sa yo then go talk to your local barangay. You can also get in touch with local animal protection groups who can help in relocating the cat or offer you more constructive and non-violent solutions.
