Animal Shelter/Welfare Volunteers

Hi. I've started this thread for those who might want to help rescued and abandoned animals in shelters either by giving their time, effort, brain power, or money. 

Please post lang if you're looking for volunteers or if you want to volunteer or if you just want to share your thoughts and experiences with animal welfare groups.

I'll start first, hehe.    

I've helped out at the Mandaluyong Animal Shelter several times, actually 3 times pa lang. So i'm still new at it. It used to be a city pound where they brought dogs to be killed  but the Mandaluyong government has declared the city a no-kill zone. Though they are no longer executed, they still die because of lack of food and sickness.

There are more than 100 dogs there and just a handful of citizen volunteers. Volunteers come on Saturdays and Sundays. I come on Saturdays only. Last week there were only 5 of us, so we need more people. We feed, give treats, and clean up after the dogs. If we have time, we walk some of them. Sabi ng ibang volunteers dun, they also bathe the dogs pero I haven't seen it happen kasi laging wala ng time, tsaka sobrang pagod na kami.

We really need more people sana. I haven't donated anything except for time and effort kasi manual labor talaga ang volunteer work sa  MAS. Volunteer work usually happens on Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm to 5pm. If you're interested, please visit https://www.facebook.com/Help.MAS.Dogs or pm me.

Good for you, sis. Malayo ako sa Manda but my cousin and his gf goes to volunteer at CARA IIRC. I'll send them the link to the fb page baka magka interest sila since they're from Manda as well. I hope dumami pa ang mag volunteer. If taga jan lang ako, I'd go but feeling ko di ko kaya. I just don't have the heart for it. Maawa lang ako then maddepress.

Sana nga makapag-join sila. Two weeks ago nag-fundraising kami sa boni avenue. Ukay ukay ang ginawa hehe. Maraming pumunta din dun na taga-CARA.

Di naman nakakadepress pero medyo nakakalungkot lang kapag aalis na kami kasi dun sila sabay yung awoowooo. Parang ayaw din kami paalisin nung mga dogs. First time I heard it, i realized that the dogs appreciate what we're doing for them. They know we care. It made me love rescued dogs a lot.

hello mga sis, pwede po bang buhayin ang topic na to? kaya lang ay hindi ako sigurado kung nasa tamang thread ako... here goes my story...

kakalipat lang namin ng bahay this week, we have 3 dogs na naiwan sa dati naming bahay kasi wala akong mahanap na bahay na uupahan na pwede mag alaga ng aso...  hinabilin lang namin sila sa pinsan ko para pakainin at painumin at linisin ang dumi..

gusto sana namin sila ipaadopt sa iba or ihabilin sa animal shelter temporarily..  habang naghahanap kami ng ibang pwedeng upahan na iaallow ang dogs.. willing kami bisitahin from time to time at iprovide ng food.. wala pong breed yung mga dogs namin.. kaya lang syempre napamahal na samin.. TIA..
