H2b and I are both from Ilocos. And it's part of the wedding tradition sa province. Kahit pa dito sa Manila kami ikakasal, most of our guests will be coming from our province naman so hindi na rin ito bago sa kanila.
I don't see anything wrong sa prosperity dance. It's the guests' mindset lang. I've read on the previous thread that some brides consider this as tacky pero tradition rin kasi. Di naman ifoforce yung mga guests to give.  :) Tska di naman magroroll call yung Emcee kung sino ang mga dapat magbigay haha It's just a song number na sasayaw yung couple tas magssabit yung mga may gusto.

Although sa province namin is tradition to. And then yung tito ni h2b sabi baduy daw yung money dance, medyo nagpintig nga tainga ko nung sinabi niya yun. Pero okay lang ba yun mga sis? Hindi ba sya redundant? What do you think?

^ Hi sis Jandel! Same tayo. meron din ako niyan sa invitation. Then meron pa kong money dance. Wala naman ako narinig from the guests. ;)

^For me personally, it's okay. It was fun nga. Nakakatuwa yung mga ninong minsan pabalik balik pa. hehe

Thank you sis!

Hindi lang naman sa Batangas tradition ito, my cousins got married in the US and they did this. Gumawa pa ang guests ng crown using US dollars.  :)

Siguro, iba-ibang opinyon lang. Kung taga Manila ka at ang mga bisita mo e taga Maynila din, panay may kaya at hindi ito nakasanayan, talagang you guys will find it as nakakahiya at as if begging/asking for money.

Kung sa probinsya ka galing, and majority of your guests are from the province also, mga simpleng tao na hindi naman gaano may kaya din sa buhay, they know the importance of the prosperity dance and they don't find it offensive or nakakahiya or as if the couple is asking for money to pay for the wedding. For us, mga laking probinsya, it's a way for our family and relatives to share in the new beginning that we are about to have. They understand.

Opinyon lang, kasi nakakagulat na yung mga iba palang tao is iniisip na nakakahiya ito and all. Tradition ito and it's a fun activity. I'd say give it a try. Instead of thinking na you will be judged that you are asking, begging or making a money business out of the wedding, focus on the reason behind the tradition. It's for prosperity. It has been passed through generations and generations. It didn't stop because it's for a good reason.  :)

We're not doing it as well. :) Kahit na we know na some guests are looking forward to it kasi chance nila yun to give their cash gift. We thought na they can give it to us straight naman. Hehe. Nahihiya kasi kami pareho. :)

Me too. i don't plan to do it. They can give it straight to me naman if ever may cash gift sila  ;D

It will be part of our program. Kahit sa tagaytay area kami ikakasal, we are both from Ilocos and majority of our guests will be coming from Ilocos. It is symbolically wishing the couple prosperity so part talaga ng tradition namin. ☺

^ ohhhhh.... mapilit kasi ang parehong moms eh.

inisip ko sa reception, pag magrregister sila sa entrance, mag provide nalang kaya ako ng envelope and pins? para those who will give cash gifts eh yun nalang ipi-pin nila sa sash. noh? (actually medyo shyness galore padin talaga eh. tee hee!  ;D)

^If you and h2b are not comfortable with it, then exclude nyo na lang sa program.

The pins will be distributed by the MOH before the money dance starts. Pero hindi namin iaannounce kung how much yung nakuwa sa money dance. hahahahah

I've watched two weddings na me Money  Dance:
1. The first one I think  hindi nacommunicate ni  coordinator. Very few lang nag sabit as in wala pang 10 or 5 tapos tipong tagal nila  nag dadance wala nag sasabit. 2nd hand na kahihiyan nafefeel ko nun. I don't know if tatayo ako kasi nahihiya ako para sa kanila  na walang nag sasabit kaso nahihiya din ako na ako lang tatayo hanggang sa natapos na song.

2. The second one, I think well coordinated, all the relatives are ready to put the money even before they dance, the coordinators are going sa mga table to give aways pins and say na next is money dance. It was fun kasi parang nabibiruan sa bawat table kung sinong mag bibigay, tapos me mga tinutulak ganyan. Also, me mga bente and fifty pesos na sinabit yung mga relatives I think in order to  not intimidate everybody na need ng malaking money and it was all for pure fun. Even the kids ng entourage parang inaassist nung coordinator sa pag pin.

Yung first di ko na sinabi pero parang nakamove on naman kagad siya based on our conversation after the wedding parang di na niya naalala.

Yung second wala dapat honeymoon, pero dahil sa money dance, naafford nilang mag Singapore.

Originally ba sis, iaannounce dapat ng couple kung how much?

Yung napuntahan kong kasal na may money dance, may provided na small envelopes sa guest tables. So ayun marami naman ang nag-pin sakanila at mga hindi na nahiya kung magkano man nilagay nila kasi ng naka-envelope naman. Parang ampao :)
