^^ i NEVER said those japan homes carried a much more cheaper items than those found in ikea, what i said was in divisoria/binondo area especially if you know how and where to look for it, or better yet, if you know the right person to ask. I cited japan home as an alternative kasi it has similar ones as to what you see in ikea (minus the furnitures) tsaka accessible dahil dami pang branches. At yung mga nabibili sa sm/rustan's obviously mas mahal kasi mall sila at marami silang operating cost na kelangan i-cover.

Personally, even when I was still in sg, di naman kasi ako choosy as I never needed to buy more than what's necessary or even rely on branded ones - i also don't care either kung stylish sya or old school as long as it serves the function that i bought it for then ok na sakin. Dito sa pinas, if you really are a "super-tipid" person, why bother buying overseas for only small items? hahanap ka na nga lang ng prituhan kelangan pa ba branded at naka-teflon or non-stick pa? it's no longer about practicality, it's all about vanity na. Masyado lang kayo nagandahan sa itsura ng mga items plus the brand it carries kaya most likely dyan nyo na nabase yung purchasing decision nyo. Uulitin ko, madami na po ditong ganyan, all you need to do is to just take the time to look for them.

One more thing I find amusing is binabase nyo ang testimonials at responses nyo thru only the handful of small items that you bought from ikea and had it shipped pa from overseas. Just bec you got yourself a fancy looking kitchen knife, drapes, towels, etc from them eh justified nang magkaroon ng ikea dito sa pinas? try getting furnitures from them like beds, cabinets, sofa's, sofa beds, etc, and let's see if those can withstand the conditions here in pinas at kung ano maging reaction nyo after using them for a year.

And if you still haven't figured it out yet, hindi po masyado kilala ang ikea brand dito sa pinas, let's say most people have heard about it pero majority of the society belongs to the lower strata pa rin so practicality becomes a big factor hindi lang yung halaga. Just bec you can afford it eh agad ka nang bibili sa mas mahal, syempre titingin ka pa rin ng mura. Heck, just last week I went down to divisoria just to browse pero naka-score ako ng 1 dozen na face towels for only 100 petot, the price was actually for just 10 ten pcs pero the tindera threw in 2 more, ganda pa ng quality mas makapal kesa dun sa mga good morning towels kahit nung binabanat ko sa harap ng tindera.

And if magkaron nga naman ng ikea dito sa pinas, ang tanong, would the items still be cheap? You know very well the saying "you get what you pay for"

I also want Ikea to open here sa Pinas! Pero san kaya pwede, yung medyo accessible pa din? Naiisip ko pwede sa may Libis or sa Macapagal.

They're not really super-cheap and if mago-open sila dito, me select market lang na iki-cater. Not for everyone, for sure.

I have bookcases from Ikea, almost 10 years old na pero ok pa din. Very easy to clean pa. Got them when hubby was based in SG pa, and since free naman ang seafreight c/o his company, we brought it back to Manila. My brother has Ikea bedframes (for their kids' bedrooms), bookcases, cabinets and tv racks - more than 5 years na, still in great condition. So i'd say, sulit talaga. When abroad and me Ikea, i almost always drop by to get little knick-knacks that I can stuff in my suitcase or handcarry. Matitibay and reasonably-priced na din. Plus, they look nice and easy to incorporate with existing decors.

^ i think that one is/was not really an authorized reseller of Ikea.. just someone who personally imports Ikea items to resell here..

I think what's meant here is the actual Ikea franchise coming here in PH, with its full range of products and the usual Ikea display style.

^^ Haaay. I am based overseas. I don't need to ship them or pay extra to buy IKEA items. Again, I buy based on my need. Like yung hangers, honestly, not even Divisoria has those I want and not because mas maganda lang sila tignan. Duh. Again, for knits and delicate clothes, ang dapat na hanger ay yung round without any hooks or extra curves at the end because these types of clothes will form as per the hanger's shape. IKEA has, by far, the cheapest of this kind. If you don't wear knits nor delicate ladies' blouses, then I would understand why ok ka na sa hangers sa Divisoria. The thing is, I can't honestly fill my luggage with just hangers or frames when I go home. Syempre ang dami kong usually dalhin na pasalubong with just my 25kg.  Their quilt covers are cheaper than any you can find in Manila, too. That's why I want an IKEA to open in Manila. I don't care about their furniture, they're expensive compared to those you can buy in Manila. Stop judging people just because they have different wants and needs than yours.

Anyway, if they open a store here, pwede naman na maliit lang na home products lang. Rent-wise, it'll be much cheaper since they don't need a 2-3 storey space for all their furnitures. And I'm sure, patok naman sya sa mga tao.

^ sis baka yung mga bumibili abroad then nireresell dito. In case lang na authorized dealer nga then that's good. I used to buy the cutesy ikea stuff din abroad then resell dito sa pinas and yung non stick pans pero pag may time and budget lang heheh.

I am not trying to offend nor to take sides here.  But for me, I really don't want to brave divisoria for some kitchen utensils.  I was also based in SG before and I loved Ikea.  I still have their ceramic knives which I bought 3 years ago.  I frequent that place almost once a week, back then as I live nearby anchorpoint.  Whenever i visit, i always take home little things such as napkins that I bring home to manila coz my mom is fond of it (they are like the softest napkins we've ever had).

I would also tour around the place just to reset my mind as I see the furnitures as modern and functional. 

I would really really want Ikea here in Manila.  Since uniqlo, H&M and Cotton on are already here, Ikea nalang ang kulang. 

Most ikea items here are resellers kaya they are very expensive.  In case, magtatayo ng ikea dito, it will be my new playground / wasteland.

^^ True, sis. For me, I'm willing to shop at Divi if it will save me thousands of pesos (e.g. my entourage's clothes when I got married). Pero for a few pesos, even if P500 pa yan, I wouldn't waste my time, gasoline and pawis. My gasoline to and fro Divi is already P400 minimum (malayo sa akin kasi). Eh yung pagod and time mo pa na suyurin ang Divi, you have to count that too. Plus, they don't even sell nice looking home thingamajigs. I love interior decoration.  It's my de-stresser to have my house clean and look at least half of what the simple house showrooms look like. So IKEA does give me the home decors I like at cheap prices.

I like Ikea for little home knick knacks and the food kasi ang mura, plus I like building things. Hubby does not like the food. You get what you pay for nga daw.  But furniture, I have little qualms about it. They just do not look like real furniture to me. But that is me, maybe I am getting old so I want real wood furniture. We go to Ikea if we want something cheap and temporary or mga needs na hindi kailangan pag isipan pa like Kitchen utensils, beddings, etc. For big furniture like sofa, dining table, etc we go to a real furniture store.

Hi.  I don't know if allowed yung inquiry na ito pero true ba na madaming naghahanap ng Ikea products sa Pinas lalo na yung mga may sariling bahay?  We are a bit addicted to their products dati kaya meron pa kaming mga unused na gusto na namin idispatch like relo, tools, food containers.  Ini-encourage din kami magbenta ng cousins ko kasi mahal daw dito pero I don't find it feasible kasi parang bihira kong marinig sa mga kakilala ko unless from SG or Middle East.

Am asking from this thread since regarding household.  Thank you.

^ IMO, ok ang ikea furnishings if it is for short term. Kasi di ganun ka durable, sa experience ko ha. Cheap naman kasi talaga compared sa ibang Brands - assuming you are residing abroad. So sometimes Kung nagr rent ka ng room/ house and you need immediate furnishings na stylish but not for Long term, ikea is ideal.

Pag nasa pinas ka and I have my own house, I won't consider idea furnishings. Siguro pag nag b board ako or rent.

Now for the Everyday stuff, I don't think ikea is cheap sa Philippine standards, Pero compared different brands sa abroad, like the furnishings, it is cheaper and more stylish din. Rugs, plates, etc They're simple, nice, functional and kung masira, ok lang palitan nalang ulit. Yun nga lang, sa dami ng items nila, sometimes you just have to pick and choose which ones you really need. Otherwise, you will end up buying more than what you need.

^^ nakita ko nga na overpriced yung mga ikea products dito though di naman ganon ka-expensive sa abroad, di ko alam na may Ikea thread pala so I assume na totoo ngang may mga naghahanap ng Ikea products. At least this gives me hope na madidispatch ko yung mga Ikea products namin na natira sa Pinas at sa KL. Gawin ko na lang reasonable yung price basta mabawi ko lang yung gastos ng pagship ko.

^I like the little abubots sa Ikea. When abroad at naglalakad around Ikea, nakakarami din sa padampot-dampot ng mga small stuff. Haha. I like their zipped storage bags too.

I like their bookcases and storage cabinets din, tagal na nung ibang bookcases namin, maayos pa din. Yung mga sofa and beds, parang hindi pang-matagalan. For kids' rooms siguro, pwede na.

What do you have to dispose sis?
