brands you hate (or will never buy)

rant time!

okay, maybe "hate" is a bit strong, but brands you don't get, but everyone else seems to love ---

I, for one, am not into Balenciagas. my sister had a Balenciaga Work but we sold it off after it started fading on her and got a bit rough on the edges. i know a bunch of people are like "Balenciagas leathers are so great and soft!" i'm just like -- no they're not. they're just super thin and weak.


also can't get behind Marc Jacobs on anything. dudes watches are so tacky and his bags are so.... generic, for the lack of better term.



which designers/brands do you avoid?

1.  Michael kors as it design is like rip offs of other luxury brands.
2.  Louis Vuitton neverfull, seems like everybody has that model already and fakes are everywhere.
3.  Gucci GG trademark bags, I don't like their trademark canvas, sorry for this but it looks tacky to me.

Probably would never buy:

- Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Michael Kors...too ubiquitous
- Technomarine or Tag Heuer watches

Never bought a single Coach item for myself, but I do have it --- everything I got were gifts.
Not into MK as well --- be it the bags or watches, not my style!
Then, there's Marc Jacobs --- another one I won't spend for; got a couple, gifts as usual!

Not really hate but ok:

Moschino-- Ang cheap tingnan ng bags tapos ang mahal.
Michael Kors-- No original design. Parang lahat kinopya.
MCM- panget
Toms-- ugly, ugly shoes and arguably worthless "cause"
Ralph Lauren-- can't seem to make up its mind if it's high end or not
Hermes-- the Birkin to me is an overpriced old lady bag. Maganda lang talaga leather. The other bags are nice, though.

Hate is a strong word, but I dislike these brands:

Prada - Became famous for those nylon bags with the triangular prada logo back in the 90's early 2000's.  You're charging that much for a plain nylon bag?  The gauffre line (yung parang ruched nylon) is not much of an improvement either.  I have to admit that the fairy bags were cheeky and I loved those but other than that, Prada bags are just a big no for me.

Michael Kors - All those rip-off of higher-end designers really turn me off. Sayang, because he really has nice designs when he tries to be original.  The Miranda, for example.  The basic structure of the Selma, actually nauna siya with that shape but because he copies so much, most people think he ripped off the winged bags of Celine etc. 

In defense of the others mentioned here:

LV and Gucci - I've actually stopped buying their logo bags/accessories, but their leather accessories are top notch.  Especially LV's SLGs.  I have a wallet na several years na, mukha pa ring bago.

Longchamp - The bags are so darn functional that I just can't hate.   In terms of cost per wear, di na rin siya mahal kasi super tibay.

Wouldn't say hate but not a fan of marc jacobs-i prefer michael kors over MJ. Having said that, yes MK seems to have a lot of knockoff bags lately...I have 2 MK bags i'm happy with but I'd never go for the monogram prints.

I don't hate coach, i have a bunch of coach bags but always the full leather ones. I never buy the monogram print (exception is one bag i bought years ago). In fairness, the leather bags i have have held up beautifully over the years.

Celine and chloe neither have any appeal to me

I have a couple of Michael Kors bags (bought it on employee sale for like 1500 each). Although I got them almost for free, I got really disappointed. Nagbakbak agad yung bag. I got the metallic one and unfortunately, ganun daw talaga ang reaction nun lalo na pag may contact with alcohol or even sweat.

Long champ - One of those brands na kahit original dala mo, mukha pa ring peke.

Salvatorre Ferragamo - the designs are not for me. For my Mom or Lola maybe.

Ninewest - not good enough quality. nagbabakbak din agad. Hindi lang magamit for a couple of months, yung leather nya, because synthetic lang kasi, pumapangit na.

^True with Nine West. It's severely overpriced here in Manila but the quality is sooo poor. Mas nagtatagal pa Charles & Keith bags ko kesa dito.

^So true! Charles and Keith bags ko, super okay pa hanggang ngayon yung the ones I bought years ago. Not worth the price ang ninewest.

Ditto on Nine West. Yung handbag ko na once ko pa lang nagamit then kept it in my bag cabinet for a couple of months, nung gagamitin ko na, bakbak bakbak na. I stopped buying Nine West since then.

Ang dami palang hindi nagustuhan ang nine west ako rin yung nine west kung bag na madalas ko dating gamitin nagbakbak nang konti tapos tinago ko muna mga months din nung tiningnan ko rin bakbak na bakbak na hindi na talaga pwedeng gamitin. First and last na nine west bag ko na yun unless may magbigay sa akin. Mas ok pa nga ang  guess and mango na bags sa ninewest.
